Yeah, but Pod was dominant back then, and that's where we shined.
I'm not saying that the deck is gonna be bad - the core of Scapeshift is strong enough to be a good deck in pretty much any conceivable modern format (unless like Cryptic gets banned lol). But we're definitely gonna be back to T1.5 status.
we played this deck with peer through depths and serum visions before dig through time, and we can do it again

Decks I have in my bag of tricks- Needless to say, someone who wants to play will probably have a deck UB/x Faeries UR Storm XURWB Affinity G Elves UW control
So, rather than complaining, allow me to do a little bit of predicting.
Delver becomes much worse, if not gone completely, and Pod is gone. GBx goes up, and Dark Confidant is coming back with a vengeance. Another deck that will get a lot better is Zoo, in all its variants, because Pod pushed it out to a large extent. I also think Affinity and UWR will go up.
So our decks are losing 2-3 mainboard cards and we need replacements. Our sideboards will also get shaken up. Where to turn:
I think Electrolyze gets way better and should go back to a solid 2-of. It was too slow for T1 Delvers with counter backup, but that's not the biggest threat anymore. Electrolyze is massive against Confidant, Zoo, Pestermites and Affinity and cycles, which is good against GBx and UWR. Pyroclasm goes over Anger of the Gods wherever we had them in the 75. The exile effect was the main reason for Anger (against Pod) which is no longer particularly relevant. 2 damage is good enough against just about everything we need it for (stuff we might miss with 2 instead of 3...early Goyfs, early KotR, Wild Nacatl...can't think of much else) and coming down a turn earlier (and only needing 1 red mana) is huge against Zoo and Affinity.
The 1 mana slot becomes a debate again. Are Lightning Bolts still necessary? My inclination would be to say yes, at least in the early stages of the new meta. Should we also be playing 1-mana manipulation in the form of Serum Visions or Sleight of Hand? Or should the Digs be replaced with Telling Time/Peer Through Depths?
I'm fine with going back to Serum Visions and Peer Through Depths. Dig was a fun card while it lasted. I'll miss having an excuse for maindeck Bolts however. I'll also start working on my sideboard being Twin / BGx / Affinity focused.
For now i'm replacing the digs with Telling Time. No way I play peer on a deck that needs the landrop the first 4-5 turns. I also wanted to stop play electrolyze because it feeled so useless rigth now but I will wait because I expect more confidants and affinity.
with pod gone people can't alternative win con and gain infinite life.
i some what missed the whole dig through time period of this deck, went over to other decks, but I assume from here we go back to snapcaster mage for flashing stuff back?

Just go back to Park's list(GP Minneapolis). Though if zoo becomes popular you have to play bolt.
I posted a while back about my experiment with gifts. I'm on my phone so I'm too lazy to search for it. Basically it was clunky and made you play weak silver bullets.
A large part of what made Shift good was the excellent Pod matchup (and the decent Delver one). So Pod going away hurts the deck, and losing Dig at the same time hurts more. I don't think it's fair to immediately assume that the deck loses its position. I would predict a lot of Junk and Twin, neither of which are super great for us. However it is difficult to say exactly where the dust settles, and if (for instance) RWU somehow got popular again we'd be in excellent shape.
In the short term I expect a lot of Burn and Affinity on MTGO, which is bad for Shift, but that won't necessarily last. (Affinity is pretty easy to beat if the pilot isn't experienced with it, anyway.)

When you peer long enough through the depths, the depths peer also through you.
Now that DTT is banned, are people going to go back to playing Peer Through Depths? Serum Visions? I'm not sure what to replace the 3 I have in my deck with.

Telling Time is a little better than Peer Through Depths in certain situations. Mainly: Early on to fix mana, to have more outs for a ramp spell(steve) if you could win with it on the spot (Scapeshift + land in hand with 5 lands on the board), and when you SB in permanents like Wurmcoil or Vendilion Clique.
If Zoo becomes popular Izzet Charms can be bolts. If Jund gets popular 1 or 2 Kodama's Reach could be decent.
The SB could use work. Firespout is probably better than Anger. And Wurmcoil could go in there. I also like a Combust or two.
I don't like the idea of having no bolts. They are very good against burn/affinity and generally the best red removal spell in modern. Against the various creature decks and bobs and stuff I like lightning bolt

Definitely agree. Bolt is just a solid game 1 spell, especially after shakeups in the format.
