Tried some new Khans cards in the deck and these weren't enough of a difference maker:
Rattleclaw Mystic - Being a two drop in place of either Hierarch, BoP or Wall of Roots is not beneficial as you don't get the defensive body of Roots, exalted from Hierarch or the 5 colours from BoP.
Savage Knuckleblade - Although he looks like what the deck could use, the play to use him takes away from a set up if you're giving him haste off the bat. Good abilities and still worth some testing though but I replaced one Ooze for it and I somehow always needed that Ooze when he was in my hand.
Surrak Dragoncloaw - Good abilities but he is a 5 drop and we have others we'd rather play at 5, especially Conscripts. Depending on the board state, the trample for the win is quite good when going the beater route vs the infinite combo route.

While we are on the topic of possible ktk additions to Kiki Pod, Clever Impersonator (as a possible replacement for Phyrexian Metamorph) and Timely Hordemate are the two that stand out to me. As for the Impersonator, I have no clue whether or not the added utility is worth it but it seems like being able to copy certain things like Karn Liberated vs tron and even Bitterblossom vs fae could be useful utility. I have even copied The Rack against 8 rack and could see copying Shrieking Affliction as a valid play. The only downsides compared to metamorph are the mana cost and the fact that it cannot copy a man-land (ex: Celestial Colonade). As for the hordemate, it seems nice to be able to go for the play of podding Voice of Resurgence after attacking with it(get a trigger for the elemental)-->Deceiver Exarch then pod that --> Timely Hordemate in order to get back the voice. It seems like the equivalent of using Chord of Calling to get Eternal Witness which will get back the chord and generate value. The only caveat is that it needs to be a 2 cmc or less creature which is awkward though still useful.
The only two things that I would ever run a card like Glen Elendra Archmage for are 1: it has persist on a 4 drop, which is important to combo off with (pod into Zealous Conscripts, triggers for persist and conscripts targeting pod, pod the other half of the 4 drop for Kiki Jiki, Mirror Breaker, combo off with conscripts + kiki)and 2: it hates out the big finish combo decks really well (the ones that rely on a lot of mana/lands ex: scapeshift/tron). The only reason that I would replace Glen Elendra would be if it did one or both of those things significantly better but Glen Elendra can be podded into and can be used twice as a counter spell and it is way out of Mystic Snake's league in the second category. Im sorry but it is just not a competition as to which one is better in my eyes; it is clearly Glen Elendra as far as I can tell unless I overlooked something.
So what's the consensus on what fetches to run now that we have the Khans ones? Obviously, green fetches are going to be wanted, but beyond that, I feel like I'm in the dark.
I'm not sure if the new fetches are optimal, but for budget reasons I've been running 4 Windswept Heath and 4 Wooded Foothills and have enjoyed always being able to fetch basic forest. Only downside is that Hallowed Fountain, my usual go-to fetch target when I don't need green, is harder to fetch for than with Mesa/Misty
I don't recall even seeing a single deck list for Kiki Pod that ran basic mountains as the main reason for basics in modern are either for mono-colored decks or for playing around blood moon, which is definitely something that mountain cannot help us with. That having been said, Steam Vents and basic plains are among naya colored shock lands and basic forest for some of my most-fetched lands when playing Kiki Pod.
just played at a modern monday event only 4 rounds but won a cool $70 for 1st .
i haven't been on this primer for months after i took a little break from mtg. however i made a few changes to the deck and went to my lgs. my biggest change was adding keranos, god of storms this card is the nuts against control. they have no way to deal with it and is my number 1 card i want to get against them. the card is just insane and everyone should be playing at least one sb. the other change i did was make it so the mb was more combo centric by having 1xphantasmal image and 2xdeciever exarch. if people don't respect you're combo its to easy to punish them and those 3 cards can help you get a win from no where. and sometimes it just helps you if you're to far behind or have no outs and you just go for it.
anyway here's my decklist i played, i need to change my sb i know that for sure but didnt have all that much time to tune it but my mb feels solid atm. couple of things i bounce around and struggle to find the right number in the mb is the number of chord of calling, wall of roots, deciever exarch, restoration angel.
but seriously keranos was an all star vs control, has anyone else tried it?. im thinking i dont need thrun or sigarda now because of keranos but they're decent against jund so yea.
1 Kiki-jiki, Mirror Breaker, 1 Deceiver Exarch, and 1 Phantasmal Image. I never ran into a situation where I wanted more than 1 of these, and I needed some space. While it is good to have more combo pieces in some match ups, I believe for the most part you only need these 1 of each for most match ups.
no Chord of calling I found the card to be under preforming, and never good. also cutting themlet me cut a few Wall of roots which has let me add some good Bullets.
3 Grove Of the Burnwillows and 1 cascade Bluffs. I found myself drawing way to many grove, and relised that i didn't need double green as much, but needed red and blue (clique and kiki-jiki) It could just be wrong, and i could just put a Island in place of the bluffs. Also the fetch lands are in those colours because i wanted to test them out, as they are cheaper irl, and i didn't expect many blood moons.
1 Kitchen Finks the card is great, don't get me wrong, I just needed space, and it never felt like a core part of the deck. i did endup having a bad time against burn, but adding a second to the sideboard seems good, as you generally only need 1, because of the full 4Restoration angel, However if there was more burn or zoo, i could see going up to 2-3 maindeck.
The sideboard is pretty self explaintory, i found affinty, twin and Scapeshift to be meh matchups, and put hate cards accordingly. I could see running a Magus of the moon over Avalanche riders, as you generally don't need your coloured lands, with a pod and mana dorks out. But the combo and angel and riders is back breaking in the amtchups where its good, and seeing as i am running a fullset of angels, it was hard to not run it.
No talk about the winning list from the 5k? I think Geist is awful in this deck, same with not having 4 Hierarchs and 0 Chords. Thalias are interesting though and made an appearance in the winning list this weekend as well.
Yeah I have added an extra Hierarch. and honestly Geist is mvp of the deck, every time I've played him, I've won. Most of the time what happens is i untap and they try to block him, but the majority of the time i have a Resto in hand and save him,and deal four. he's just super good.
As for chord i never liked it, every time i drew it it felt bad. Im using domri atm, he seems quite good, He's drawn me like 5-7 in one game.
I also tried path in the main deck. But i've only played a game against twin once, and it was okay there. But i am sure i could just get away with the sideboard paths combusts, negate and path. i've also cut the witness since im not using chords any more. and it was mediocre without the,
If you want a dumb attacker Tarmo slots in much more easily than Geist. I find Geist to be super underwhelming in a deck that is far more geared to combo and provides little to no defensive ability as you set up the midrange game. Using Resto to save Geist so you can get 4 in seems like poor value compared to other 3 drops that can change the board state.

You can't really take the winning list into account when building Kiki Pod, as the guy cheated several times on camera. Thalia was probably in the deck mainly to help him cheat by "forgetting" to pay the extra mana on Pods and Chords.
That said, Thalia does seem like a good inclusion, especially with the rise of Burn. I agree on everything else.

I was surprised to see Lotus Cobra in his list, since I've been doing a similar thing. 8/9 Fetches + Lotus Cobra is ridic imo. The disproportionate amount of burn (at my LGS) has me using Courser and Obstinate Baloth along with Finks in my SB. I have a SB box for building SBs, and for a larger event I'd change things around.
My mana creature count is 4 Bird, 3 Hierarch, 2 Cobra and 1 Wall. Sometimes I play a third Cobra and no Wall of Roots. I'm going to post up a list in a bit.
I thought about trying to extend my Pod chain into Resolute Archangel but I don't think it could get there. I might just have to jam the Negates and hope for the best along with everything else.
Since every deck that can run blue is doing it, should we be running treasure cruise? I don't think it would be the right call since we run so many bullets, but if we cut down on the bullets and turn more midrangey, I could see the argument for it. I think we should also be seriously considering Timely Hordemate

I go for Steam Vents, basic Plains, and basic Mountain too often to not go with Heath and Foothills.

1 Kitchen Finks
1 Keranos, God of Storms
So Let me explain some of the choices I made
Aven Mindcensor,Geist Of Saint Traft, 4Restoration angel, and 2Vendilion Clique. I chose this set of cards because I felt it would improve my B/G/x match up, and my U/W/R match up, as both match ups i beilve are about Making them tapout on their turn, and hard to deal with threats. The Keranos, God of Storms and Sigarda, Host Of herons serve the same purpose out of the sideboard, Which I do believe Thrun, The last Troll could be good enough out of the side as well.
Ethersworn Canonist, Spirit Of the labyrinth, Thalia, Guardian of Thraben, and Fiend Hunter. the ethersworn canonist is mainly for the ascendancy deck as i was having a really tough time beating it, while Eidolon of Rhetoric may be better, i believed that i needed more 2 than 3 in the deck, for the ascendancy match up i was also thinking of running a Eidolon of the great revel, But it feels a bit weird to have it. Spirit of the labyrinth is for the delver and control decks, and somewhat the ascendancy decks. I find it invaluable against Cruise, and it beats hard in other match ups. Thalia, Guardian of Thraben is for any deck with lots of spells, ascendany, delver, storm, control, she's just a hell of a pain. Fiend Hunter is so i have a main deck out to Linvala, Keeper of silence, He's also been quite nice against aggro decks, and once against twin (when I was running chord).
no Chord of calling I found the card to be under preforming, and never good. also cutting themlet me cut a few Wall of roots which has let me add some good Bullets.
3 Grove Of the Burnwillows and 1 cascade Bluffs.
