I've been considering building a tezzeret control deck for some time now, and I'm wanting to splash but I'm unsure of which color I am more interested in. I've been playing a RW Blood Moon + Ensnaring Bridge deck for a while now however I like how tezzeret can dig harder for that bridge and don't really want to lose the moon effect. Any suggestions?
Assuming you splash red for that effect, I'm afraid a Blood Moon would hurt us a lot. We would be a 3-colour deck, and we already play many nonbasics being only two colours. On top of that, in that case (being UBr) we would'n want many mountains.
another victory over infect...i thought this mu would be hard...maybe was just lucky, but needle on inkmoth is really helping. I had also a capsule lock one of the game...
what would you remove for dispel psycho?
also i will try the new jace once m15 is there...i think he can filter + we can throw away some artifacts in gy for post or ruins if we actually need both cards...bounce something we dont want and if we lock, the ultimate is probbaly a win... not saying it,s the best card ever printed, but since jace + tezz in legacy is so good... i wish the +1 ability could be on the opponent too
I think the other Tezzerator list lends itself to being a Blood Moon deck, it can run like a UR "Blue Moon" deck. Definitely the way to go if you really want Tezzeret and Blood Moon.
@altaran2
For the sideboard, thinking -1 Torpor Orb, -1 Duress, +2 Dispel.

Have you ever run into a situation where you wished you could get rid of your Ensnaring Bridge? For example, you controlling some 5/5 made with Tezz's -1 and/or Creeping Tar Pits
Thanks for the hasty reply! I'm kind of a big brewer as well and really the wrath effects aren't huge on my list of needs if I'm running the bridge. My main consideration was thinking I would run the full 6 talisman to avoid the blood moon from hurting me and keeping myself away from man lands. If I were to post a list of a brew I've been working on would anyone be interested in giving some suggestions or play testing?
Went 3-0 to start in the PTQ, lost out after that. Once I was 3-3 I was more having fun than playing super tight, but OK for my second PTQ. Tournament report later.
@Altaran:
Good on you, pal. I think (and my friends agree) that the deck is somewhat hard to pilot to its optimum. Like you said, with all the different angles we can take - thus you have to know all the other decks and their weakness - and the decision making going on, having experienced, tight play is crucial to get results. Its really nice to see that the deck can own the meta. Please keep going

I've done this via trading post. Setup with a couple 5/5 darksteel citadel's, cast damnation, sac bridge to trading post and swing for 10.

The problem is people can bounce the bridge, kill it in sideboard games, or have a combo that doesn't care about bridge (Melira). Bridge is a great card but you can't count on it being 100% permanent.
Also yeah, haven't had a good chance to do the writeup, busy week.

Tron is really a pain! But its a bit like 12 post in legacy, its unbeatable for tezz deck... I must be 1-15 vs this deck in legacy... For the modern part now, eversince i wrote i wanted to side one needle, i keep winning with it.This morning, I won 2-0 VS merfolk with first game bridge lock, second game, stabilized one turn before he kills with needle on vial and needle on mutavault. Lost 2-0 vs uw tron and dont think we can beat this deck except for poor draws.
@radouf Im from quebec too! The only problem is I Play only online... You can be assured that ill keep testing this deck. There are advantages to be rogue deck too...
concerning bridge. First, you dont want necessarly to cast bridge as soon as you can...You must think wich route you want a take. If you got early tezz and think you can win via tezz -1, well just keep it. I Rarely have a problem with the interaction of tezz and bridge. Also, modern version of the deck as 3 spellkites wich help vs hate and bounce .I see bridge as a soft lock and always plan accordingly. Im testing skites in legacy now. One thing is sure, you need mass removal and some instant removal also.Bridge is not enough
Now, im on my phone so its harder to type. Ill try to make a post that each people could discuss after that with sb and how i think we could handle each mu
Ill clear one now
tron decks: strategy is simple, pray the magic gods! Hahhahhahahab

One thing about Tron vs 12-Post is that Tron is much much weaker to land destruction. Ghost Quarter and Fulminator Mage can be hosers rather than a small speed bump they would be to 12-Post.
If you really really hate Tron (or Tron heavy meta), pack 2 Extirpate's in the sideboard as well as 3 Fulminators and you can permanently knock them off of Tron. Pithing Needle on O-Stone and Karn are great, Chalice on 1 is sick too as it turns off Nature's Claim which is their most common Artifact hate. I think its best to focus on beating down as fast as possible in this matchup.
The good part is that Splinter Twin keeps them in check.

I would say that you are right for green red tron wich is probably easier to beat...but uw tron does not care that much about land destruction (even blood moon they can easily survive...) and have less 1 cmc + they have counters for our big threats... they also have much more ways to kill, they have mindslaver lock, going big with creatures and lot of list also run gift package... Iona on black kills our game. Finnaly they can play annoying things like platinum angel... all in all harder to beat.
good thing though with your package is that its also good vs scapeshift...once you Knock off either scapeshift or valaakut...you are in good shape.
But yeah good points to try to fight them and if the meta justify it...I'll change the sb accordingly

Ah yeah, that was all for RG Tron. UW Tron I never expect to see at a PTQ, it just isn't really a great deck right now. Mono U Tron will show up online since it is a decently competitive deck and is cheap. That matchup we have to side like control + land destruction. The good thing is they are inconsistent in assembling Tron, Cyclonic Rift and the buyback counterspell I find are the most annoying cards by them.

this after noon, lost again 2-0 vs RG tron. First game I thought I was ok but he top decked a all is dust to kill my liliana at 6, all my tokens form bitterblossom. then top decked a karn to exile my 5-5 the rack (from tezz) I killed his karn with my tarpit he was at 4 at that time. then he top decked another karn to remove tar pit hahahahhaha. Second game was not close at all... I tried to disrupt him with my ghost quarter turn 2 bacause he had 2 pièces of tron...but he had all the piece by turn 4 and I weas down a land...no pressure. he landed Karn and that was it...
Also, he sideboarded leyline of sanctity vs me...this card is not fun for our deck either...the only disruption I had vs him was no good...
So now I'm a bit confused on how I should board vs them... If I board 2 more duress and they have leyline I have 2 more dead cards...but duress is so good vs them if they dont have... sice I bring chalice it,s also less good... Probably will just keep it at a 4 discard count but will switch duress for inquisition since all the things inquisition target is also targeted by duress
I won vs hate bears 2-0 with a bridge + bitterblossom lock. I also had spell skite in case he had pridemage or any artifact hate.
game 2 was harder because he went on the land destruction plan. Always targeting my black mana (guy was good...he knew probably that damnation was my mass removal. he Drew 2 quarters with arbitrer and killed 2 shores putting me back a lot... But I had the chance to cast blossom on turn 2 just before he destroyed everything.I was Lucky here cause I kept drawing lands and talisman staying a live with blossom token...also landed a torpor orb there during 4-5 turns. I finnally casted tezz and put torpor a 5/5. then I stabilized and won easily after that but I think I was drawing really good there...In fact If I could have place the cards myself, I probably would have put it in that order hahahhaha
another visctory this time vs UWR geist deck. needle on celestial is really hard for them...also, a capsule lock let them only with geist to win. bridges are good too. Here I would have loved those 2 dispels since I think resolving a big sphinx or chaining counter like cryptic is probably their only way or a turn 3 geist without a turn 3 liliana for us with lot of counter back up.
now a defeit 1-2 vs melira pod...second game he boarded kataki that caught me by surpise this card is so bad vs us... and of course he top decked it cause I had a cage on field and he could not use pod... game 3 we were in top deck war and he Drew like a god... I almost had a bridge lock cause I had post and bridge...but he Drew pridemage with abrupt decay and killed both while he Drew 3 finks along with township...I ghost quartered his town ship and he top decked another one just turn after...hahahah close one but he was way luckier than me...Guess its karma for game vs hatebears...
I will be putting your list together as soon as my talismans ship in. Found it hard to run without that 2 drop rock. I've got the 3 drops and lots of them but they are a turn too slow I feel. As for disruption has anyone tried throwing a couple Repeal into the list? It seems like a decent tempo card and has a cantrip effect as well.
Leyline is going pretty deep for RG Tron that needs 2 Chromatics to hard cast it. I can't imagine mulling hard for it as the whole point is stopping discard and they are eating up 4 sideboard slots? I thought Jund was generally a good matchup for Tron, I wouldn't count on them typically having Leyline.
Echoing Truth is our best answer to Leyline if you are running into it a lot.

Definitely keeping it, one thing that is a nice bonus about it is that people are willing to counter Thirst but very reluctant to (and usually cannot) counter Serum Visions. In the current meta Chalice of the Void is becoming a pretty bad card, so I want the 1 drops in the deck.

Woa guys. Lots of work going on. Keep it up! Scrambled-answers:
Cool. That's 3 of us in Quebec (Ace & I are in Montreal. Tezz coventum soon? :p). For the side-board per match-up idea, we JUST did precisely that a couple of pages back (2-3). If you wanna start somewhere, you could offer constructive criticism on what has been written, maybe. Though a couple of match-ups involve siding in and out Smallpox, and Im not too sure everyone is [kamikaze enough to be] running the card. It works well for me, at least. What's your stance on that one, people? Tron is hard, like, hard hard indeed. On the other hand, I think I still have to lose to Melira-pod. Its however always super challenging. The fox artifact-hate dude (brainfart), Ive always been horrified to see him hit the table, but I usually end up playing around him. After all, if he's his first drop and he's all proud and stuff, its not uncommon we have access to a Lili of Smallpox the next turn. If later, we can Serum visions our way through until Trinket mage / executioner's capsule or Damnation. Worst case (guy topdecked a second one after i just managed to free myself from his first one), you timely sacrifice a couple of talisman to pay for more important stuff. It hurts, yeah, but its manageable. Or maybe Im just lucky on my draws. And after two weeks I still love Serum visions even more <3

I don't know if it is because of the version i run but r/g tron always was an ok matchups. The two needle really shine here, often you need to fetch both to stop karn and o-stone. 3 main deck ghost quarter help a lot and Thoughtseize is super good too, although they can win with topdecks. Crucible from the board is also good.
U-tron is harder and i side in 2 negate and 2 dispel vs that version, it helps vs cyclonic rift and hurkyl's recall.
You have negates in your board? really thought about it... maybe for the spell snare that I rarely side in...also you running pox? that might help vs them dont know...About needle, I know it's a star in this mu, but you have to play guessing game since if you chose first karn then oblivion cleans it all and if you chose oblivion, he just can karn your needle when he wants to blow oblivion...guess negates could help countering first karn or oblivion would be key...
Tonight I had the most crazy game vs delver that I finnally lost 1-2 at turn 16 game 3. I had a lock with 2 skites, a bridge and ruins in play. All his creatures had no way to attack and I could redirect all damge too. also had a spellbomb in yard...I Drew lands after lands. finnaly got trading post that he countered twice with negates...then he top decked shttering spree whicH I survived with skites...then I decided to bring back spell bomb to clean that spree from yard but he had another negate and he top decked snapcaster just turn after that he bring back spree and win...if i clean there...probably would have won. Also verry unfortunate to draw like 12 lands in 16 turns when your deck has 22. No tezz...almost half the deck gone... Too bad...
I won vs cruel control just after that. 2-1. Should have been 2-0, but game 2, I have been mana screwed for 4 turns but i had a double bbitterblossom on table (starting hand had 2 lands, 2 blossom, and 3 discard...I discarded all his good cards then blossom hiim almost to death
But of course he top decked cruel ultimatum just before dying to survive one more turn and killed me with double bolts he Drew from ultimatum next turn
BTW I'm altaran2 on mtgo just pm me if you see me we can discuss! you can also tell me your name on mtgo ill add you to Buddy list. Already done for psycho and Lesage25
