So I played against my buddy's blightsteel blitz deck (that Travis woo build, except my friend runs some Cranial Platings) that took second last week at FNM. Game 1 he got me but 2 and 3 were easy with Mindslaver in there. I am half tempted to run Slaver and Emmy but I think that is just too much on the high end for the deck.
The first thing is I cannot find a Talisman of Progress so I am realy not keen on playing Supreme Verdict and I totally doubt Sphinx's Revelation will help at all. I understand that Talisman is a debate issue but is it possible to stabilize colored mana without it?
The second thing is the sideboard is killing me. We have a diverse meta in my country and I don't know what to expect so I try to be ready for all , which seems impossible. I feel ready for twin but all else is hazy, especially GR Tron. Terastodon proved to be too demanding (you have to spend Unburial Rites on it but most of the time you don't want to, so it becomes a dead card). For GR Tron I try to use Crucible of Worlds and Mindbreak Trap for Emrakul but are they enough? Is Terastodon good for anything else? I feel like I will need one more Celestial Purge but and some graveyard hate but don't know what to left out. Maybe Mindslaver ? (Could you tell which decks do you find it effective for?)
And for main deck... I know I tried to cram a lot into it and manabase suffers but Whenever I trid to kick something out I regretted it. For example I entered one tourney without Repeal and every PW, Enchantment and Artifact on board became a nightmare. O-ring is far from enough by itself.
A little help and comment on deck list will help a lot. I really love the deck and refuse to play anything else on upcoming PTQ next week. Thx in advance
With that base plus 3x Azorus Signets (I don't like 4) I have never had a problem playing Verdict.
I personally like to have more counters. It works for me, and I run 3x Condescend, 3x Remand, and 1x Mana Leak. I wouldn't have it any other way.
Terstodon is very important. He is the only way we can beat Tron without relying on them having awful draws. I would dump Ghost Quarter and Crucible in the SB so that you can have a more consistent mana base, but it is up to you.
I would not personally run Karn. He will have little impact in the late game. He is game breaking on turn 3, which RG can consistently hit. He is not great on turn 15.
You know, I distinctly remember posting here that I had trouble casting Verdict. I also remember using the primer deck, and wouldn't you know, we have the same mana base. I, on the other hand, have 4 Signets.

I don't have trouble casting Verdict with that mana base and signets.
On another note, I will be trying out UWR Kiki again and maybe Mono U tron for a bit. UW Tron is very fun and I like it a lot but I think I need a break. I got completely dismantled by Zoo the other night in the finals at FNM (which would probably happen with U Tron as well) and it was...frustrating. I made some play mistakes for sure, and it is a winnable MU, but quite stressful.

You don't want to play UW Tron for a year straight like I did? But seriously, I was poor so I couldn't afford to change decks.
We really don't run sources for Verdict to be reasonable on turn 4. Whether you've never had problems is different than whether you could always cast it if you wanted to on turn 4. If you start actually thinking about it like that, you might find you can't cast it all the time.
I'm also testing UWR Kiki right now. I copied the latest McLaren list for now. I think I'm missing just two Angels, and my friend that I share with has one, so I'm only missing one Angel.

But yeah, so far UWR Kiki is looking great. I finally bought two fetch lands today (Arid Mesas) so my mana base will improve slightly. It just has an acceptable MU against most of the field, and the Kiki combo helps stem the bad MU's (Tron variants, Boggles, etc.). Also a resolved Blood Moon isn't game over for that deck as I only need 1 plains and I can still combo. Fun stuff.

I completely agree that supreme verdict is uncastable in the early game when you want to in most cases. You need 3 of your 4 lands to be colored mana, some of which come in tapped or we have to pay life for inorder to cast it when you need it. This card is unplayable imo and its not in my deck. I have no idea how you guys are running eye, ruins and ghost quarters with 3 signets and have no mana problems. I run 4 signets and 1 talisman and only 2 colorless lands and I have problem casting colored cards.
I truly feel that people GREATLY underestimate the number of times being mana screwed effected the game. If you had to make a non optimal play either with order of land drops, paying life for lands to come in untapped or changed your play from the "optimal" one due to the mana base, these definitely count as problems.
Supreme verdict is castable on turn 25 (exaggeration) which is why i think playing sphinx's rev is okay. but on turn 4-5 when you want it most in certain matchups, it is uncastable MATHEMATICALLY, regardless of any individuals experiences.
If Supreme Verdict is a problem, what about Hallowed Burial? Not as good against Merfolk but way better against Thrun and Pod. What is easier to cast 4cmc and 3 colored mana or 5 cmc and 2 colored mana?
Also I don't like Oblivion Ring and Detention Sphere so much... they are catch all silver bullets but them being enchantment means sorcery speed and they don't work with Snapcaster Mage. Naturally drawing the enchantments is hit or miss as sometimes they are clunky at 3 mana sorcery speed. I feel like having a 2nd Snapcaster, Noxious Revival or a card like Annul, Steel Sabotage, Swan Song, Erase, Hurkyl's Recall, Cyclonic Rift, Repeal or Revoke Existence would serve me better. Terastodon plays a similar role whenever going for Rites is not a problem.
Any other cards that would replace Oblivion Ring / Detention Sphere?

I'm also not in love with the 1 maindeck oring that a lot of people play. its a 3 mana catch all but im not in love with it. Its sorcery speed so it doesn't interact with twin or scapeshift combo, its slow at 3 mana and decks have abrupt decay and cryptic to get rid of it. I need 1 slot for my deck and im unsure if i want to cut the oring, repeal or talisman of progress. Im leaning towards either oring or talisman.
I'm also pretty surprised that not more people are playing sundering titan in this deck. It kinda works well with Iona in the sense that when the opponents deck has many colors of removal, Iona is not very good, but if the opponent has many colors of removal, that usually means that they are a 3 color deck where sundering titan is very good. On top of that, he is an artifact that you can discard to thirst and you can unburial rites him as well.
I've recently added 1 to my main deck to test him out. In theory he sounds pretty good. Hes the bridge between the early game and the mid game slot that slows our opponents down and forces them to chump or deal with a 7/10 until we find emrakul. He also helps shore up a few of our weaker matchups for example 4C loam/gifts, scapeshift being the big one, uwr/rug twin, hes also not bad against pod (although this is not a bad matchup).

It's very meta dependent. The card can be really good or really bad. If you look at the primer I definitely talk about him, and I've had him in previous lists.
The idea is that he's somewhat mediocre in the blue matchups because reanimating as a whole is somewhat hard to do. That tends to be the majority of matchups where you want him. Like UWR Delver, where you're unlikely to reanimate anything.
Against 4C Gifts/Loam, we're already losing that matchup. I'm willing to concede it since it's not popular. Scapeshift is certainly a matchup, but they tend to play enough counters that I have concerns about reanimating. I'm also not fully sure what the UWR Twin decks will do against us, I've gotten a mix of input. Some say they leave in Path, some say they don't. RUG Twin I definitely would prefer Iona and name blue, since red and green can't combo me and I'll race their Goyf. For Pod, I definitely prefer Elesh Norn, so I'm keeping Titan in my SB.
Tonight I've played with a friend piloting UR Twin. We only tested main deck and I am amazed how much his silver bullets worked. He played one Dispel and one Flame Slash . I had dropped Iona on Turn Four and he bolted and flame slashed and went on merrily. God I hate that deck!
The other friend I played had GR tron. Veeery bad match up! Did I say I hate Karn, too! Much!
I do agree with some of the points u made.however as u said I would gifts fo elesh norn vs pod and not s.titan. and its true that if opponent has lot of counters its hard to resolve rites/gifts but I feel that its a poor argument just to say they have counters. And lastly u seemed to only mention rite-sing s.titan, he can also be hardcast even if I dont rites him. I want something to fill the midgame slot between my intial rites for iona/elesh norn (if they get dealt with)/ wurmcoil and emrakul. I feel that if you do not play anything in the middle it takes too long before you have another threat (emrakul).
In a lot of people's lists they play. Elesh norn, Iona, Emrakul and wurmcoil.
I prefer to have 5 "big threats" the last slot either goes to mindslaver, sundering titan, ulamog, sphinx's relevation, another wurmcoil, batterskull etc. I have not decided which is best in the last slot.
When I was last playing the deck I was playing with Sundering Titan main. I liked it quite a bit, but I had Iona in the board too. Not sure how I would feel about maindecking Elesh, Iona, Titan, Emrakul, and Wurmcoil. Though I suppose Wurmcoil could be moved to the board too, but I like him because he is so easy to cast, lifegain is pretty relevant, and he can just beat down/stall a board. I like having something to do with Eye before Emrakul too. I don't think I Rites'd an ST more than once or twice while I was playing it, like realtalk said, it was more of a value play in that midgame range.
Guys, what do you think about Soul of New Phyrexia? I found that it's pretty nice in any tron deck, but especially in Gift ones. Why? Even if it goes to the grave, you still have the ability of protecting your lands, Wurmcoils, and stuff.
Your opponent automatically chooses Trading Post, if he/she don't, you get all your stuff back. If you still don't have the 3 Urza's land, he will choose one and you got no deal further than tutoring 2 win cons (which stills cool).
BUT, now the thing gets interesting, if you already have the Tron online, he will need to choose between Wurmcoil or Soul. If soul goes to grave, you can protect your lands and wurmcoil for one more turn (your opponent probably won't have enough [removal/land hate] to deal with [Wurmcoil Engine two times + the tokens/your lands producing tons of mana] for two more turns). If Soul of New Phyrexia ends in your hand, next turn, you can cast it and use it's ability if needed (7 mana of tron, +3 of the new Tower, and you casted gits, so I assume you have a blue land too, 11 mana).
Profit in both cases. And it isn't a goldfish situation, you just had Tron and casted gits. That all what happened.
I started playing UW Tron about a year ago and I loved having the over abundance of mana and the ability to hard cast Emrakul but getting off the ground was very very tough for me. I always felt like I was playing the catchup game and always felt that when I won was just due to luck. Eventually I got a hang of it and started to do relatively well, but now I am back to always feeling behind. I actually feel worse than I did when I started playing it in the first place. Is this just me? I understand this deck is incredibly hard to play but I just feel like it can't stand up to almost all of the commonly played decks at the moment.
I need the extra win con so I left Academy Ruins and Mindslaver in and I need mid-game action and expecting lots of agro so I have Wurmcoil Engine in the main deck. There is a rush of Affinity so I put second Kataki in the board. I preferred to have the third Map so that put one of the Remand s in the sideboard also. Well, we will see...
