Maybe I've lost my mind or maybe my computer is glitching, but the page count only goes to 53 now.. It was at like 70 before I stopped viewing this thread...
Sorry to hear about your games, and it's also good that you also shared with us your matchups. We have bad matchups against Burn, Boros etc, basically decks with low CC big creatures and cheap removals are bad for us - and you pretty much faced up against them. Modern does have lots of decks like this though. Ninjas typically fare better against combo or slower decks.
In a mono blue list, there are lots of inherent weaknesses, and you also didn't run Cryptic Command, which is one of the most powerful blue spell available. At the moment I feel a BU is much better, since we can run hand discards and also Throat Slitter, which could replace Mistblade Shinobi. I like Mistblade Shinobi, but he can be very underwhelming at times.
When it comes to evasion spells such as Distortion Strike, Writ of Passage, Veil of Secrecy and Artful Dodge to name a few, they are obviously situational and can be 2 for 1 (upon a removal spell). Even then, I would still try to play 1 or 2 pieces of Artful Dodge, because there are enough instances which I just need to connect with a Ninja already in play to turn the game around or just win the game. Flashback from Artful dodge is so useful, and because of that is a card worth playing IMO.
I been thinking about using door of destines in the deck. I find myself thinking though it might be too slow...
Would it be a good idea or would it be too slow?

yes I based it off your blue/black ninjas accept without Vendilion Clique as he a little bit too much for my pocket book right now...
I am just look to power up my ninjas so they can hit a little harder... I find I can keep most decks on lockdown but lately I been fighting a lot of midrange decks. this leads to my Spellstutter Sprites to be all but worthless as most of time I have only 3 faerie on the field.
I really do not know what to do so the plan was to replace the swords of feast/famine with something to hopefully do a little bit more damage or maybe control.
Faerie because there always being bounce around more often then my ninjas. I never consider Scion of Oona that might be what I am looking for. the sword is not really a problem I am just looking for other possible options to use.
So yeah the creature base is basically the same. Finally got some thoughtsiezes, so yeah awesome stuff there. Now for card explanations
Undying Evil- It's either amazing or not, generally I've found it amazing as I use it on Ink-eyes or Okiba after a field wipe, and it's just good.
Shadow Slice- Still finding it good as it turns tormented Soul into a monster.
But yeah I would enjoy some help on a SB and any MB suggestions are appreciated. SB wise from what I've seen my meta has around two trons(mono-blue), a BW tokens, A living End, A scapeshift, a merfolk deck, quite a few pods, and I think a UWR deck.
Do you have any results vs. the meta you mentioned?
I have very little experience with black decks in general, so take my recommendations with a pinch of salt.
The weirdest inclusion is Shadow Slice. I like to call the card a Lava Axe - it does nothing at all on the board for 5 mana. If you have no creatures, it is dead (unless you opponent is on 3 or less life). If the opponent can remove the ciphered creature, it is dead. If the opponent can block the ciphered creature, it is dead. If the opponent is able to race you, it is dead... For example, look at Geralf's Messenger: It does almost the same thing and is an actual resilient creature - you can play it on empty board, you can profitably block with it etc. (and after it dies once, you can recycle it with a nija, while doing still more damage to the opponent!)
Dismember is a strange omission. I imagine Gatekeeper of Malakir would also be very good in this deck (given the potential to reuse it with ninjas).
Considering you are mono-B deck, you could afford to play some nonbasics - manlands like Blinkmoth Nexus or Mutavault (if budget allows; you may want to wait until after roation, but considering you have 0 tribal element in your deck, Blinkmoth would be better anyways). Land destruction lands like Ghost Quarter or Tectonic Edge would help you fight the trons and scapeshift (maybe, not sure about that).
I fully agree that shadow slice is a strange inclusion, but actually has been quite helpful, used it more than once to outright the game when I would have lost the next turn if I hadn't. Generally I only put it on tormented soul with the idea that if my opponent didn't get rid of it already, because it should be a large target seeing my deck, then they won't now.
I agree dismember is a strange omission mostly due to the fact that before this moment I forgot that the card existed I'll probably pick up a few now, and see how they work instead of disfigure.
No manlands mostly due to budget issues yeah. Umm yeah I could see GQ and Tec edge as good cards vs scapeshift.
Now onto the matchups I've played. Vs. death and taxes wich I forgot to mention I generally try to outrace it and it's a 50:50 matchup I find but shadowslice is what has saved me in the past. Living end isn't really a problem due to 4 skullsnatchers. I have a hard time against tron, and scapeshift. Pod is also generally a bad matchup I find. Merfolk are fine as long as I draw removal and mutilate I find helps me a lot against tokens.
Against Tron, I find that we had to hit them as quickly as possible, while saving our counters for their big spells. Since your deck is mono-black, hand discard plays a very big role here - seeing that Okiba-Gang Shinobi can only come down on the 4th turn at the earliest, while they could always discard their less useful cards, it is always going to be an uphill task against them. Sideboarding with Pithing Needle or Phyrexian Revoker could help though.
Scapeshift is tough, I have lost games to a topdecked Scapeshift before. Birthing Pod is tough too, everytime they land a Pod successfully it is good game for me - again Pitching Needle and Revoker is good against it.
Guys, what do you think of Hypnotic Siren as a 1-drop for ninjas? I will definitely try her as a replacement for Judge's Familiar.
The Mind Control is expensive, but it might help out in attrition war situations.
Yup I saw this too, the Bestow is expensive but again it beats having nothing at all. Definitely worth a slot if you are not playing a Faerie flyer for the Faeries count. At the very least we won't complain about drawing a late game 1 mana creature.
In breaking news, Triton Shorestalker might be also playable in ninjas.
Saw this in the spoiler and immediately thought of this thread. U Ninjas finally get their Tormented Soul. Couple that with the new harpy
and/or Ornithopter, and you've got some decent enablers in blue.

“Modern has provided us a non-rotating format that is far more accessible than Legacy or Vintage, but still retains many of the qualities that people enjoy in those formats—such as a more stable metagame, the ability to play and tweak the same deck week after week, and simply a much more powerful card pool than Standard.”

Thread unstickied. Discussion hasn't been as consistent here as it was in the past and we want to make some room for new stickies in Creation. If traffic ticks back up, there's a good chance this will be moved back in the future.

Haven't seen the whole of JOU so far, but it is great to see a UTormented Soul in Triton Shorestalker because I have seen decklists which splashes B just to play Tormented Soul. It also means we can have a manabase that is more heavy on U then before, since we don't need to ensure a first turn B in a UB deck with a small B splash. This makes the manabase less painful and more stable, and helps us to play Familiar's Ruse much easier.
Hypnotic Siren could also work well with Familiar's Ruse, since we can bounce it and re-cast again with Bestow.
To conclude, it seems like Mono-blue Modern Ninjas just got stronger, and even if it doesn't, it is definitely more easier to build and play by now with these choices.

Sad to see the thread unstickied. It has been on the Deck Creation front page for the longest time. Hope that enough interest in it can push it back to it's former place again.
In other news, I'm experimenting with Nivmagus Elemental as a one-of in my deck. It can serve as an ninja enabler (people are very hesitant to block him, but you of course don't want to waste counters). After eating one spell it gets out of Lightning Bolt/Anger of the Gods/Pyroclasm/Firespout range and after one more spell, it gets out of Dismember range as well. At that point, many decks are almost unable to deal with him (I mean all the UR delver/twin/pyromancer/red mood decks out there, just mind the bounce). It can also be a real beatstick against decks which don't play much board presence (scapeshift, living end, storm) - I actually just played an odd sequence T1 Nivmagus, T2 bolt his Sakura-Tribe Elder , he sacs it, I eat the bolt and attack with 3/4 on T2. It also helps fight counterspells (fizzling their Remand or Cryptic Command is delicious :)). It also blocks goblins, Memnites an their kind (and even Wild Nacatls or Geist of Saint Traft when fed a bit) all day.
TL, DR: It gives the deck a nice reach it wouldn't otherwise have, for a very low opportunity cost (there aren't really any excellent blue one drops, so this one is as good as any).
Hmm, I'm not sure if I run enough instants/sorceries in my decklists to be able to run Nivmagus Elemental. Even if I only play a singleton of it, I would also want to draw it early when I have spells in my hand, and odds are pretty low with only 1 piece in the deck.
That said, I could see the flexibility of it. I play a number of conditional counterspells such as Spell Pierce and Spell Snare, and they could be exiled with Nivmagus if they are not relevant to my current matchup. I also think the possible interaction between Nivmagus Elemental and Ninja of the Deep Hours - bounce Nivmagus and draw cards with NoDH for more spells to exile with Nivmagus might sounds plausible, but again this is usually the dream scenario and I usually don't expect things to be so smooth-sailing !

And which blue 1 drop would you want to draw late game? I would certainly prefer Nivmagus before Flying Men or Judge's Familiar (yes, the new Hypnotic Siren might change this).
Nivmagus could be worth a try, so is Hypnotic Siren. I'm already thinking of brewing an Izzet Ninjas decklist, but I'm not sure if splashing B for a few Master of Cruelties is worthwhile though.

If you go 3 color, you lose Blood Moon. Is that worth it for a gimmicky 5-drop? Blood Moon is the deck's only saving grace in many matchups.
I haven't been playing Blood Moon thus far. I didn't have any copies of it so haven't had the chance to try it out in my Izzet Ninjas decklist.

Try it It completely wrecks many decks we are naturally vulnerable to - tron, WB tokens, UWR control, pod variants... Many of those can fight it (countermagic or immediate Abrupt Decay) - they often expect it on your T3, so I like to drop Vendilion Clique on their T3, forcing reaction or removing their ability to threaten the BM and then proceed to BM on T4.
It is a bit dirty though (you are preventing the other guy from playing Magic and force him to suffer through sometimes even ten more turns of agony), so I generally don't use it against casual or other clearly sub-par brew decks. 3 color decks without fetches get hit the hardest (fetches at least allow them to play around it a bit).
Have you posted your UR Ninja decklist before? Would like to take a look at it, it seems to be quite different from mine, that said, we probably approach it in a different way to begin with.

Venser and Nivmagus are last additions that I'm trying to evaluate right now. I would also like to shove a single Anger of the Gods into the sideboard. For more thoughts, see the linked post (I'm at work right now).
Nice decklist there, looks tuned IMO. Do you mind if I link this in the main primer? This is a good reference for players trying to make an Izzet Ninjas decklist. Currently I'm still playing a few pieces of Higure, the Still Wind in my UR lists.

Sure. Except maybe drop the Venser for one more Familiar's Ruse (I have only played the venser in very few games).
Higure isn't IMO very good 4 drop, because it's effect is sort of redudant (once you are hitting with a Ninja, you would generally prefer to draw removal and protection, not more Ninjas). On top of that, he is conditional (requires an enabler). That's why I have Ral Zareks (and am looking at other alternatives like Keranos, God of Storms and Thundermaw Hellkite).
Thanks, I'll add in your decklist in the next round of updates to the opening post.
Yup that's right about Higure, there are times when I was caught over 2 minds between bouncing a Ninja (NoDH) back for Higure or let the existing Ninja continue attacking - that said, I play Higure also because we can have more Ninjas and I want to have more Ninjas to Ninjutsu into.
The other alternatives such as Keranos, God of Storms and Thundermaw Hellkite or even Stormbreath Dragon are also good to test with. My Ninja decks always lacked a finisher, and even with swords I find it unable to push through the last few points of damages. That is also why I persist with Higure and his unblockable ability - that did won me a fair number of games.
I apologize beforehand for the poor format. I'll learn the deck preview system when I get back. Feel free to comment and critique.
NINJAS FTW!!!
I changed it into deck tags for you . Also I think you should play a full set of Gitaxian Probe, it's so good in this deck I really want it in my opening hand. With Knowles of your opponent hand you could use it to protect your Delver of Secrets or Ninja of the Deep Hours better. And I realised your decklist only have 58 cards.
Good luck to the Grand Prix and looking forward to your match reports!!! .

Haven't seen the whole of JOU so far, but it is great to see a U Tormented Soul in Triton Shorestalker because I have seen decklists which splashes B just to play Tormented Soul. It also means we can have a manabase that is more heavy on U then before, since we don't need to ensure a first turn B in a UB deck with a small B splash. This makes the manabase less painful and more stable, and helps us to play Familiar's Ruse much easier.

Have you posted your UR Ninja decklist before? Would like to take a look at it, it seems to be quite different from mine, that said, we probably approach it in a different way to begin with.

Nice decklist there, looks tuned IMO. Do you mind if I link this in the main primer? This is a good reference for players trying to make an Izzet Ninjas decklist. Currently I'm still playing a few pieces of Higure, the Still Wind in my UR lists.

Good luck to the Grand Prix and looking forward to your match reports!!! .
