I'm still confused as to what exactly separates martyr-proc and soul sisters— Can someone explain? I'd assumed it was just the use of martyr/proclamation but I've seen both of those in the soul sisters thread.
Martyr-proc is a mono white control deck that can either win with the Ascendent+Martyr combo early game or by gaining a ton of life trough Martyr+proc/Emeria in the late game. It runs card like Ghostly Prison, Wrath of God, and Squadren Hawk to stay alive until they can get Emeria or Proc online or beat them to death with Serra Ascendent, Student of Warfare, and/or Figure of Destiny.
Soul Sisters is an aggro deck that uses the martyr+Ascendent combo as a supliment to there plan of beating the opponent down with Ajani's Pridemate+soul warden/attendant, Squadren Hawk and token producers along with Honor of the pure to pump their army.
Well none of the lists I've seen in the last two pages are running hide and seek its absolutely amazing in thr eggs matchup. Sb or mb. I'm suprised I also haven't seen the Kami of false hope lock. Seems pretty good against the r/g aggro match which is about 50/50 for us. Just seems like more can be done with black to progress the deck.

So I am genuinely curious, how this deck does versus Iona? A lot of people are running unburial+Iona near where I live, and I'd love to try out this deck, but am fearful of Iona naming white.

I can't think of a time I won after Iona hit the field naming White. I think a little over a year ago I may have won 1 game when I already had 2-3 Serra Ascendants on the field and was able to get the last bit of damage in with my over-flooded board (I think I had those out and 2 Ranger and a Figure)
But besides random luck, it's pretty rough...
So this guy won a mtgo primer with this the other day.
I haven't played the deck much but I would like to see if Sun Titan is a sweet finisher or if he just gets Path'd.
There's plenty of options for card advantage and you're looking to get value from your wraths to grind the opponent out.
I'm not sure if cavern of souls is new tech for this deck, but it probably pulls its weight preventing your martys from getting countered and forcing UWR decks to go late game.
I'm going to test the list a bit, although there quite a few options and _Batutinha_ probably plays the deck better.
I don't understand the use of damping matrix.
What is it there for? And how to use it effectively?
With it on board martyr of sand is almost useless, so becomes serra ascendant. If you side them out ranger of eos is now a sad draw.
It shuts down a lot of decks like eggs, twin, pod, etc. by the time it comes down you should already be at a comfortable life total so Martyr won't be as needed.
Damping Matrix helps against kiki-pod as well as things such as eggs. I guess it's more of a meta call as to which one you use. Stony Silence won't stop kiki-jiki.

Mind Stone is there for ramp, draw, and is reusable with a Sun Titan. Thoughts?
I also found Kitchen Finks extremely underwhelming, not sure what could go in its place.
Couple of questions.
What decks did this deck play against?
How do you use cavern on martyr you wouldn't be spending any colorless on it? Would you use it on giant, or human for ranger of eos?
I didn't mean specifically martyr. You would name human or giant.
I haven't tested the deck yet with Cavern of Souls. I didn't feel like spending the 80 tix, so I just stuck 4 plains in that spot.
I'm not sure what decks the guy faced in his event.
The deck is fun, and you get some free wins vs. aggro. It can serve as a Grundy control deck with titans, rangers, and procs. But without having card draw you sometimes just flood out or don't draw gas. Having martyr with mind stones in hand is annoying too.
It's a neat control deck that can have insane draws, but I miss snapcaster and the permission of blue decks.
I like the idea of Martyr-Proc. I used to play snow-white and I thought it was a lot of fun. However I'm concerned how well it stacks up to other decks? I read it loses to Tron a lot. What about Jund? What are the good matchups and bad?
As a Tron player, the simplest reason martyr loses to tron is FSM herself. Your life may be 70+, but when your field is empty and your taking 15 a turn, it can really hurt.
The key to beat tron is to hope:
1. You get a fast solid hand
2. They get an okay hand
3. You can put ascendents at 6/6 and keep swinging....

The issue with the field is that it will hurt your own martyr and proclamation (If forecasting it)....
Stony Silence is probably the best bet as the tron player usually wants to focus on winning midgame vs. you and hitting the spheres can stop him from cycling through the deck.
What do you guys think about building martyr-proc so that after sideboarding it becomes soul sisters? Kind of switch it up to trick people into thinking it was control, then BAM out comes a WW deck?
Does this offer any advantages in terms of matchups?

The problem with that is they share most of their good and bad matchups.

I would probably do it the other way around. Aggro has a better game one against most of the field, at least in my experience.
