I was going though the old archives and came across a small stint of time in which the creature type "Rebel" was a thing. Can someone elaborate on that. I think it was around the Time Spiral set. I did play back then but never got matched with anyone that ran them. Been stock piling them as they look like a fun tribe. Couldn't find a thread on them and wanted to hear the thoughts on them. Might just toss up a BW list because it like something people wouldn't see something but not asking for a high win % for the night.
I don't know if it will be viable, due to a lack of sergeant in modern. I figure white black gives 2 searchers for cards at 3 mana. At 3 mana we have 2 sources of creature removal between the rebel pacifism and the big game hunter. Mirror entity and the changelings will give you some filler.
I have been thinking about rebbels in modern for a while.
The streangh of rebels is that you trade mana for card advantage. The longer the game goes on, the better it is.
This is a challenge in a format as fast as modern. In order to adress this I would add rebbels to a controll shell. In order to make shure you are fast enough to winn I would suggest adding æther vial to your deck. You already have card advantage, and æther vuial give you the speed you need.

The time Rebels were a thing (a very big thing, in fact) was the Standards involving Mercadian Masques block; so much, in fact, that Lin Sivvi got outright banned in Block Constructed. Unfortunately, Masques predates Modern (though it is the earliest point Modern could feasibly start at).
Rebels got brought back in Time Spiral for nostalgia's sake, but unfortunately much like many of the things that were brought back for Time Spiral block, there weren't as many of them so they were much less of a force.
