I don't normally post in the Modern section of this site so forgive me if this isn't the right sub-forum. I thought of a piece of tech for fighting the Eldrazi: Painter's Servant. With the 1/3 out there aren't any colorless spells so Eldrazi Temple and Eye of Ugin are effectively shut off. Could this make a difference, or is it too slow and/or limited?

You would never guess, at the terrifying sight of the man, that Hunding was as charming a companion as one could wish for.
In the card rulings it says that it retains it's original color, painter just adds one so it doesn't stop colorless from being cast because they are STILL colorless.

Keep reading the rulings:
5/1/2008 If something affected by Painter's Servant is normally colorless, it will simply be the new color. It won't be both the new color and colorless.
Colorless isn't a color, so a card can't "retain" colorless as a color. Colorless means "lacking a color," thus a card with a color is by default no longer colorless.
I didn't realize it when I first posted this, but apparently people have already tried this and it's just not very effective. The issue is that painting the world usually results in a one turn set back for the Eldrazi player - since their lands still tap for 1 instead of 2 - but casting Painter's Servant is a one turn set back for the hate player. It ends up being a wash on tempo and a 1/3 doesn't do anything against the Eldrazi.
