Well, I think the nature of Modern is just whose broken stuff can beat the other guy's broken stuff. I mean Tarmogoyf decks all try to ride huge bodies to victory, while white decks try to ignore that by getting to like fifty life, which Twin and Pod try to ignore by going infinite. I can really only remember matches for a day, so the only thing that even comes close to qualifying for me is when some woman playing some janky white lifegain deck go to like fifty life against me and had an Elspeth out. I forgot to crack my fetch and then drew a Pod and proceeded to win. Actually I had another game where I forgot to fetch and drew a Pod today. I guess that's something. I guess playing Pod(or Twin), you become jaded to amazing things, because the deck's Plan A involves an infinite combo.

"The imagination is not a State: it is the Human existence itself." - William Blake
He goes T3 mind censor in response to sylvan scrying, get a tron piece but not the one I need.
Game continues on for a few more turns he has a ghost quarter now and god knows how many counter spells. I just hard cast wurmcoil it promptly eats a path.
He taps out to play elspeth and collenade after dissipating my second karn, I follow up with an o stone and wipe the board. He swings with collenade next turn bringing me to 8 or so.
At this point he's dealt with 3/4 wurmcoils and 2/4 karns.
I cast mindslaver with activation mana (still no tron) which baits him into blowing one of my three towers (I had two mines). On his turn don't really draw anything but go snap caster path collenade fail to search.
My next turn I find it I get an eye of ugin and slam it down before his untap search for emrakul (only 10 lands in play). He swings with snappy bringing me down to 2. On my upkeep I rip the power plant cast emrakul, desperate for an answer he remands in response. He finds the cryptic to buy another turn.
His turn he plays sword of red and white and puts it on his snappy and brings me to one. I untap swing with emrakul he sacs 6 lands leaving snappy w/sword, a fresh collenade and a watery grave and goes to 6.
This is it I have to get there only ancient stirrings in hand. Grove for green find only chrome star. I need an o stone his vapor snag in hand kills me if I wurm coil, play the star sac for green draw another stirrings, find only relic play sac, there it is the o stone. Play sac go. He untaps and looks at his two lands and mutters something, I proceed to eye emrakul the next turn.
He likely tapped it down before it was declared as an attacker, hoping to find something like a wrath or an oblivion ring to deal with it on the next turn.

I support WotC's goal of shaping Modern in favor of diversity.
I ran a thought experiment on my blog Modern in a Nuclear Wasteland
of an extreme case of banning 20 more cards to make sure they get everything, then scaling back where appropriate. WotC seems to be on a slowly build up approach. Both ways probably reach similar end points.
The post Gatecrash metagame is proving to be closer to the endpoint than I estimated, so its very possible that few (if any) more cards need to be banned.

Ahh I understand now. He remanded just for the card draw and then he drew Cryptic to tap Emmy during the extra turn.

I'm confused how attacking with an equipped snapcaster mage makes you lose one life.

Current Decks:

Modern Warp / UR Control / UR Storm / Naya Breachshift / ElectroBalance
Legacy
Solidarity / Lands / Sneak and Show / Grixis Delver / Reanimator / Belcher / Storm / Dredge
Honestly my three best memories of modern matches would be these three.
I was playing infect and I go first. I turn 1 Glistener Elf. My opponent plays T1 deathrite shamen.
On my turn I play anothe land and go
Rancor, Might of old Krosa (main phase) and I swing for 7 trample. HE blocks and then I proceed to cast double mutagenic growth for 11 trample FTW turn 2.
I was playing speed mill against Jund before banhammer and they play a fetchland and I play triple Archive Trap to mill them 39 and then they scoop when I play t1 headron crab.
Lastly was against a Emerakul reanimator. I was playing UWR miracles. He sucessfully reanimated him on turn 4 and he took the extra turn. Before he swung I cantriped into Terminus. Then next turn I naturally miracled into temporal mastery and then flawlessly into entreat for 4 and then swing for win.
I don't think you should have immediately won with the 11-power trampling Glistener Elf in the first story, as Deathrite Shaman has 2 toughness and was blocking, so you would have dealt only 9 poison.
My most incredible moment wal playing delver, my opponent with 5 lives and was going to kill me on the nex turn, I was in topdeck mode, I draw Electrolize, use it on him and draw Lightning Bolt.
My bad... the story does still seems clunky though
actually a lot of these incredible stories are clunky
lol, there is a ton of BS in this thread. Either that, or people have no clue how to play Magic. Or both. I wouldn't count out the "both" option.
Just from the last page, the SoWaPed Snappy kills. It doesn't deal one damage (the person relating either had numbers wrong or was making stuff up to increase tension). Additionally, the guy who said his opp reanimated Emrakul on t4 and took an extra turn should've called a judge and handed him a loss.
So on cockatrice today i was playing mono white control. We played 3 games and my opponent was playing some sort of reanimater Grislebrand Ermakul combo thingy and i manage to survive sever Grislebrand and Emrakul attacks each game. Pretty sweet stuff.

Before I could afford vengevines for my dredge, my main win con was worm harvest had about 27 lands in deck
Was facing down an emrakul and wurmcoil and was able to win because i was making like 15 per turn (6 for annihilator, 2 to block, 7 damage, 1 more damage than the wurmcoil was gaining in life)

I don't think your story is accurate, as Emrakul has Flying and therefore can't be blocked by Worm Harvest tokens.
All of these incredible stories seem to involve the game not being played correctly lol.
I play a RW lockdown deck that has provided its share of unthinkable comebacks though. When that deck locks, it locks hard. I have won games from 5 or less life that make my opponent tear his hair out in frustration. I could be facing an army of beasties and then I casually rip an Ensnaring Bridge and say "go". A couple turns later a wrath comes along and their army is toast. About this time my planeswalkers get close to their ults and its usually scoop city.
Drew out the game for a long time, he had a lot more creatures than burn so holy day and darkness and Ethereal haze were saving me a lot of life each turn. We were drawing something like 5-6 cards a turn because of my howling mine and font of mythos to keep my hand full and mill him out.
He landed a serious hit against me because of a Skullcrack and brought me down to 4. He has 26 life because of a few lightning helix.
Pass to my turn, I draw my cards and get my 4th Batwing Brume in hand. He's got 6 creatures on the field so even if he attacks with all I'd only take him for 24.

Turbo Fog? Way to brew. That's a sweet play also. I would be very interested in a list if you have time. I tried to brew a list a while back but wasn't successful.

Emrakul blocked it and he took 1 damage from having 1 card in hand? Err wait that wouldnt happen.

Because colored spells work on Emrakul
the tapping down ability doesnt target, so protection doesnt matter...
