why minamo and oboro? just because they get around choke? i have the deck built but i haven't played it much. wondering if its worth getting these two.

In a situation where you have mana from Mutavault or Tec Edge or Cavern of Souls and need an additional blue mana, but have not played any lands this turn, you can tap Oboro for a blue, activate it's ability with the colorless land to put it into your hand, replay it as your land play for the turn, and tap it for blue.
If you wanted to dodge Choke or Tectonic Edge, Oboro can help. Minamo can help to break the shield of your opponent's Kira in the mirror to dismember it if need be, but a corner case. We basically don't want to fold to choke and we want to set ourselves up for success in the mirror.
This could sound rather dumb. I was playing RG Tron last night, and we were just mucking around, then I decided to side Chalice in on the play against him. Funnily enough it turns out to be relatively potent against them if you can drop it T2, very similar to Bogles/Elves in function. Thee biggest issues i had in trying it were it is timewalking myself for the turn and the fact that it makes me even less threat dense, when sometimes we just want to kill them off.
What it stopped was actually quite alot. Approximately 18-20 or so cards. The Tron player afterwards actually thought it is a very valid option.

SO what i'm wondering if anyone has thought of something like this as well, or any further thought on it. I'm thinking it was just another crazy random idea as a result of having two spots in the board by taking all of the Master of Waves out or if it is actually viable
Chalice being good vs tron isn't really news, to be honest; they run like 20 1-drops. You need it on the play as on the draw it's too slow, but shutting down eggs, map and nature's claim is really strong. I've had tron players just scoop to a T2 chalice

But as a Lantern player I'll tell you its not that good, it might be better than Hurkyl since we can discard Hurkyl or force you to play it early when it doesn't do much. Leyline shutting down Lantern is meaningless as we never want to use it for shuffling anyways. Shutting down codex only shuts down half our mill rocks, Ghoulcaller's bell and Pyxis of Pandemonium still works. It only really shuts down discard, at least in stock lists, personally I've always played 3-4 Faithless Looting main which lets me discard those dead discard spells. This is is half the reason Leyline is not that good, the other half is it does nothing against Ensnaring Bridge, which is the card Merfolk needs to deal with. Leyline also comes in on game 2 where Lantern also brings in artifact/enchantment hate other than Decay, usually in the form of Nature's Claim or Seal of Primordium. So your best bet is to open with a Leyline AND Hurkyl so that you can stall Lantern long enough for Hurkyl to do enough damage. Other than that the only card I've seen few Merfolk lists run that Lantern dreads is Chalice of the Void, but it also isn't good enough on its own, it needs Hurkyl too, as Bridge again still locks Merfolk and Chalice is more easily dealt with than Leyline because Decay targets it. I'm really playing devil's advocate here, but hope it helps lol.

I went 2-0 vs burn. The first game I risked keeping 2 Vial hand, but it turned out to be great due to Eidolon!
Then I just patiently waited for my MoW, countered one sorcery with Cursecatcher and vialed creatures in. Though I admit that maybe the burn player had bad topdecks.
The second game I copied Eidolon with Phantasmal image, already having lords and Kira on the table. It worked great.
However, I'm not sure whether I'm going to bring Images to non-casual events, where there will be other powerful decks...
But anyway, thank you again!
P.S. Now I wait for the moment when my opponents bring in some artifact hate... it will be another problem to deal with...
I was going over your sidebaord plan and for Grixis Delver you're not playing Chalice. They average about 20 1cc's.

After board they will side out gitaxian probe and only have about 16 spells and they will play a few before we get chalice in play. The most high impact spells cost more than 1 like Young Pyromancer, Terminate, Kolaghans command (which can blow up the chalice), Tasigur, Gurmag Angler, etc.
There is a ton of Merfolk and infect at GP oklahoma. Saw a disturbing amount of Grishoalbrand as well. Get ready!

3rd tonight with fish. Affinity killed me. Cranial plating on a vault skirge. He had 40 life. I kept hanging in there until about turn 20 each time. Even me seeing 3x recall. Didn't help. I breezed through some burn and zoo. I hate besting zoo since I play it too. But 8 seas kills 2 and up color decks. With me just playing this month I have won enough to pay for a Liliana of the veil with no out of pocket cash, except my initial 5 buck fee at the end of August.
I got 3/4 in my last chance trail. Lost to Amercia control. There were two other merfolk decks in the top 4, and I saw a bunch for fish at other tables. In the fear of there being a lot of affinity (though I didn't see as much as fish) I currently jamming 4 recalls in sb. The biggest thing I'm struggling with is adding a 3rd reejerey over a Kira main board and either trying to fit Kira in Sb or just cut to one Kira. I didn't see a LOT of Jund/Junk but I know it's here. Being unable to get the byes means I'll be fighting my way through the early rounds. Hope to grab a feature match for everyone to watch . Good luck to everyone down here for the GP.

steven11788, sounds like the 8seas version has been serving you well! Would you be able to share your SB? I haven't been to a tournament with this new list, but have a meta of RG Tron, Delver, Jund, Twin, and some Affinity (was Recall worth the slots?). My current one is much like Nikachus:
