Hi all, I'm new here, but I want to try Jeskai to a local FNM tonight.
Usually we have a couple of Affinity a player that bring Burn or Infect, a player that bring AdNauseam or Living end, some random creature based decks, another Jeskai and a RG Tron. But I can see someone trying Grixis o Thopter/Foundry due the recent hype.
I would have liked to try the Nahiri version but I don't own her So I substitued those 5 slots with another combo: 3 Foundry and 2 Sword:
I have a doubt on the lands: removing a Sulfur Falls for either an Academy Ruins or a Desolate Lighthouse. What do you think?
Plus, the sideboard I have in mind:
1 Disenchant (sadly I can't find any wear/tear)
1 Dispel
1 Negate
1 Counterflux
2 Relic of Progenitus (was RiP but Relic is good with Foundry if needed)
2 Between Vandalblast, Shatterstorm or Stony Silence: Thoughts?
1 Jace, Architect of Thought
1 Elspeth, Sun's Champion
1 Timely Reinforcements
1 Anger of the Gods
1 Vendilion Clique
1 Crumble to Dust
1 ??? (Supreme Verdict, Izzet Staticaster, Celestial Purge or a second Crumbele to Dust?)
I think since you are only running 5 of the sword combo, you will want to make room for 2 Muddle the Mixture. That card has proven to be pretty valuable in all my thopter builds. Thirst for knowledge is a good card to consider as well.
As for your sideboard: I personally love counterflux. It's a hard stop to opposing control decks plus the obvious storm synergy. That said, I've since cut it out of most of my builds. I rarely see storm at my LGS, and while nice vs control, it rarely breaks the game open. Relic is definitely better than RIP in a thopter build; it's another artifact to get the combo going if sword is in the yard, plus you control when you pop it. I like a second crumble in that last spot, but I also see tron a bit. You might want to go up to a second disenchant. Definitely don't play Stony unless you want to cut the combo against affinity, which seems wrong. Aside from Etched Champion, if you assemble the combo they really can't get through it. If your main plan is the combo, you probably want a way to fight RIP/Stony Silence/any other hate after sideboarding. Although in certain matchups, I would side out the combo entirely in G2/3 and play a stronger control game.

Here is what I have come up with so far. I have considered changing -1 Supreme Verdict to +1 Anger of the Gods and I really want to add some more card draw but it feels like I am very limited in my resources. I have been thinking about changing the filter lands but baiting people into over extending then dropping a mystic gate into Wrath is just way to good.

Thanks for the answers: I'm curious about that last part... Which are such MU?
Any matchup where I think my opponent has a lot of hate. Against GBx I go back and forth on boarding it out. Aside from scooze, they don't have many good ways to disrupt it (forgot to mention earlier, you should be running an academy ruins to buy back any pieces in your yard). Against all in combo matches (ad nauseam, goryo's) I'll shave or cut it since they are comboing much faster and win on the spot, so my game plan becomes defense. Most decks I'll board it out, and maybe board back in on the play for G3 or something. If you have enough side board defense, you can leave it in.

BBD's Nahiri Jeskai deck is running 4 AV AND 4 SV.
I think this is a good idea.
didn't it go 2-3 in the series? I thought he said his list needed some tweaking.
His list does need tweaking but some things were good.
He's too light on lands and shouldn't be running basic mountain. I would also run Tec Edge over Lighthouse. There is already plenty of card draw and selection. Lighthouse is too much durdle in this deck. He could also go up to 3-4 Lightning Helix.
Shaun Mclaren went 5-0 in his latest video series with Jeskai Nahiri. Deck was very solid!
Is there any record of this?
The most recent magic Vod on his chanel is from may 7th
A decklist would be awesome too
I think it is a premium article unfortunately, but would love a decklist if you can get one @Nikolaylay. I'm slowly falling into the Nahiri hype train myself, although after seeing BBD's list I was scared until I realized he was running 4 of each Vision(s). Definitely not the move. Excited to see where the optimal list for this archetype falls.

Can we talk counter magic for a moment? Cards like Dissolve and Counterflux have not made the cut. Is it purely because they're 3 cmc and everyone's terrified of not being able to counter Burning-Tree Emissary or Boros Charm? Or is it because the 1UU can be difficult to achieve early or consistently mid game?
What I'm getting at is, what are people's thoughts on Thoughtbind? It hits most of the format. Looking at the most played cards in Modern on MTGGoldfish, Primeval Titan is the only one it misses. It does hit Scapeshift though.
I'm guessing the reason behind 4 remand (in Shaun's list) is because you're just trying to delay them so you can ultimate nahiri? I only ever played 2 pre-nahiri.
I've also been accustomed to having 2 supreme verdicts in the main so weird not to see any sweepers main. Having 3 angers side is sweet though.
Thanks, tonight I got to play with a friend who's great at piloting Abzan Company. First things first Thing in the Ice plus Nahiri is a big NO in my book, the thing doesn't really get to protect her, and looses a lot of consistency to transform (multiple nahiris being the worst). Also Nahiri is at it's lowest when played in the 4th turn and it's best to play it with a lot of lands (23 won't cut it). I like Shaun's list as a starting point but I would add a 3rd cryptic command instead of a 3rd electrolyze. The deck plays very differently with Nahiri.
These lists seem to have some differing opinions, between Jeff Hoogland, Paul Cheon, and McClaren, They seem to be differing on things
-3 Helixe's is what the general consensus seems to be lining up
-AV may not be right for the Nahiri version
-3 Mana leak is the sweet spot
-26 lands if not running the 4 Serum Visions
-Players hate spellsnare, but 2 seems like the begrudged right amount
I'm really unsure what to do with the lists personally, I don't know the number of remands I want to run, whether to go 1 Pia or 1 Clique, to run 2 boardwipes, whether to run the 4 Visions or just go straight up removal and counter package, whether to run 2 Cryptic Commands, or risk the list being too clunky
Shaun Mclarens 2 Serum visions look like wasted slots, you're running 26 lands, so that spot seems wasted now, may as well be a boardwipe and a creature or another boardwipe
Do you guys think 3 Electrolyzes is the right amount, I often feel it's one of the worst cards in the deck in a lot of matchups, why is this a 3 of instead of a 1 or 2 of in the lists popping up? I get it's card draw, I get it can be a 3 for 1, but there's so many games where you need removal faster than at 3 mana or where 2 damage does nothing to the creature
I agree with you on most on what you say, 3 Lightning Helix and 3 Mana Leak has worked very well for me. I think both Spell Snare and Electrolyze are underrated cards; I currently run 2 snare 3 lyze but might switch to 3/2 because of how good snare is in the burn MU.
I'm currently at 25 lands with 3 Serum Visions. I've done this before, but in UWr geist lists; although SV seems like a 4 or 0 kind of card, in UWr you tend to actually not want to cast it on turn 1 but rather on turn 3 or 5 where it can be used to fill in spare mana basically. On top of that, the later in the game SV is cast, the more valuable the scry information gets

I think you're wrong. I see too many games where my opening hand will be nothing but lands, AVs, and serum visions.
The meta is fast, and running no helixes is foolish, it's also a great way to just burn people to the face to finish them off.
What are you talking about? I'm advocating 3-4 helix if you are going to run the Nahiri package.
The lists seem incredibly customizable
Also as I said, Remand is good with Nahiri but ***** in the meta so I'm switching to Mana Leaks
Tron is the worst top tier but I have some trouble with Dredge, Bogles, and stuff like 8rack that's just pure attrition.
