I played in a ~180 ptq in Minneapolis on Saturday. I took ~25th and I just wanted to thank you guys for the help with playing against tron and scapeshift! Your advice directly affect my sideboard choices and strategy and helped lead me to a game win and a match win.
I don't find full reports helpful so I'll post my matches and thoughts on my specific card choices and sb.
1. UW Tron (1-1 draw)
2. UWR Control, Helix and Keranos (0-1-1 loss)
3. Fish (2-1 win)
4. UWR Twin (2-0 win)
5. UGR Twin (2-0 win)
6. Pod (2-0 win)
7. BG (1-2 loss)
8. Scapeshift (2-1 win)
I went 5-2-1 in matches and 12-6-1 in games. Both of the opponents that beat me made top 8.
I blame my round 1 draw and round 2 loss to me having not played live magic in a long time. Round 2 I had game two locked up but unfortunately my opponent got the last turn.
The only match I felt that was incredibly unfavoured was round 7 against bg. I asked my opponent about his deck afterward and he said he had 4 tec edges and 4 fulminator mages. I never got past 4 lands in games 2 and 3. He beat me with manlands and I just couldn't draw enough paths, bolts, and snapcasters to keep up while I held my wraths in hand.
MB Choices:
Wall of Omen: As I never want to cast one before turn four unless I'm against aggro I cut it down to two.
Shadow of doubt: I wanted something more for the scapeshift matchup and against pod. It also slowed down tron and stopped numerous fetches.
Sphinx: I think the most I cast it for was 3, and that was good enough when I needed it. Was only dead against GB.
SB Choices:
The only cards I didn't cast in my sideboard were Anger and Celestial Purge.
The only card that I cast and didn't really matter was Wrath of God against the bg deck who then killed me with manlands. I had so many cards I wanted to bring in against BG that I'm quite certain I sided wrong.
I swapped Sowing Salt with Geist based on your recommendations. My turn 3 Geist against Scapeshift was met with "That's a creature" and 3 turns later Geist and an angel were happy to win the game.
I couldn't find a Counterflux or I would have considered swapping negate out for that but I figured Negate is a good replacement.
Jeff Hoogland's 16th place list from kc is interesting.
Note the lack of Tect edges and the Mainboard Stobreaths, with no Resto angels.
An interesting mix of cards, particularly Negate instead of Mana Leak. Good if you're expecting lots of Tron and BGx? Is this really still UWR Flash with 3 Stormbreath Dragon and 3 Brimaz, King of Oreskos? They're good cards, but it feels more midrange-y with replacements for Geist. I really like that Brimaz and Dragon dodge Anger. I prefer Draw-Go, and tapping for either of these scares me.
The lack of Tec Edges is probably made up for with 5 sideboard slots between Spreading Seas and Molten Rain. I might try this - add 2 Spreading Seas to my SB, cut 3 Tec Edge for 1 Calciform Pools, 1 Mystic Gate, and go from 3 Mana Leak to a 2/2 split with Negates. I can make two sideboard slots dropping 1 Engineered Explosives and 1 Sowing Salt...

Another interaction I didn't really think about until now was Stormbreath dodges opposing Colonnades. I am really seeing Stormbreath as a solid option, especially with how many decks are running Lingering Souls. It was the #1 card at the GP.
@xseizanx
My guess on the 15th sideboard card is combust. I really liked Geist in all the control matchups I brought it in and thought a 3rd copy wouldn't be bad.
My reasoning for cutting a Kiki is that most of my games are actually won via angel or colonade beatdown, not comboing out. I rarely ever want a kiki early as I'm pretty comfortable playing a long game against most decks and the whole gamble on them not having spot removal usually turns into kiki being a 5 mana lightning bolt.
I didn't test 3 Wall of Omens so I can't answer on that. When I ran 4, I would side out 2-3 Walls every game that wasn't against aggro so I cut down to two. The only matchup that I missed having 4 Walls was against BG as those would have saved me from the manlands.
I plan on testing more basics, a fourth snapcaster, squelch, and molten rains in the next month before another local ptq.
People have tested the 2 dragons before. The consensus is that thundermaw is a better card vs lingering souls and the field. And stormbreath is better vs UWR decks. Stormbreath is worse against BGx decks since they can kill it and you get no/little value. BGx is much more popular than UWR.
Is there a version of this that's less controlling but with more burn and run young pyromancer. I'm curious how well he might perform in the current field with so many lingering souls.

UR delver has some lists that play a much more tempo style deck, using flipped delver or tons of pyromancer tokens and cheap permission and removal to win a quick game as well as blood moon to control that other decks can do.
Hey guys, this is what I'm looking at playing for this week's Modern tournament. Let me know if you think I should make any tweeks for my meta!
My meta is as follows:
2x Mono Red Burn
1x Scapeshift
1x Melira Pod
1x Merfolk
1x UWR Control
1x Living End
1x 4 Color Gifts
1x Mono White Hatebears
1x Junk

So this is what I would do based on the match ups you gave, and its just a suggestion.
Move Wrath to the side (2 decks that could play thrun) add another verdict or anger, I would switch batterskull and thundermaw slots. Drop banefire for an additional Anger of the gods. Spellskite is ok vs burn but its otherwise not being utilized fully in these match ups, if you have leyline of sanctity I would play those vs scapeshift & burn over spellskite. Try and find room for a single Keranos in the side, he has great match ups against a number of those decks.

I agree with all of the changes except I'm curious about the Batterskull and Thundermaw Hellkite swap? I'm guessing it's just because Batterskull is a more rounded card? Whichever ends up being in the 5 drop slot in the sideboard will just get swapped out for Keranos, God of Storms if I can find one before tonight.

Harder to deal with etc. Maw is great if you expect a lot of lingering souls, but it wont do a lot for you with the decks given, unlike batterskull.

I could see it having applicable uses against

As they either run Lingering Souls or fliers, but at that point I would be aiming against a smaller group and I should probably be aiming at what would be better against a larger group?
Hey guys, Im back again after playing in GP Boston I piloted this list to a 96th finish.
4 Snapcaster
2 Resto Angel
1 Vendillion Clique
1 Keranos
4 Bolt

A few notes on the sideboard and maindeck, I really liked the main deck wrath it was very nice to have a extra sideboard slot and a out in many g1s. The Timely reinforcements and threads were AMAZING they won me 3 matches. Timely is perfect in the pod and BG MU's where all we want to do is get to the late game.
Here is what I played against in the GP
R1- Bye
R2- Storm-W, Spell snare, Dispel and Counterflux are OP
R3- Prismatic Scapeshift- W, very interesting game where he could have floated mana for cryptic back up but he played around remand instead and I teared his Prismatic and tect edged his 6th land
R4-Junk-W, G2 at one life he has a single souls token and wildwood I top deck timely and it gives me the two turns i need to play keranos and rev for like 5
R5 Angel Melira pod-W
R6- Tribal Zoo-W
R7-Kiki Pod-L, Mull to 2 restos 3 Lands game one and I dont interact, G2 Mull and he floods the boards and plays Archmage, that card is like impossible to beat
R8-KCI-W, He mulls game one and resto and snap beat down, G2 double stony silence, counterflux back up and snap beats
R9-Melira Pod-W Top deck wrath of god to wipe his ranger thrun and noble when he has just another noble in hand
8-1 going into day 2
R10-Burn-W,Counterspells and rev carry me
R11-Junk-Draw, These get so grindy but in T5 I have rev and remand on a clear board so I think I would have won
R12-Jund- Lost to Andrew Boswell future finalist, Mull games one and two, No red in g1 and no answer to gofy and lili game two
R13-L- I cant remember but I mulligan all 3 games
R14-Living End-W, Win on the mull to 5 in g3
R15-BG-L, mull down to 6 and 5 in games 2,3
Good afternoon guys. Seeing ad I didn't get much of an answer in my other thread, I figured I'd ask here. I'm working on a list, but currently do not have any fetch lands. What do you think I should use in their place while I am working on getting them?

An interesting mix of cards, particularly Negate instead of Mana Leak. Good if you're expecting lots of Tron and BGx?
