Tried out your list last night after FNM with a few friends. I was beyond impressed with the MB other then + 1 Deceiver Exarch - 1 Pestermite for my meta since we got a lot of hate for flyers. Thanks for the great list Sasky.
Thanks! I'm glad it worked well for you. It is good that you adjusted the numbers of deceivers and pestermites. It all depends on how many bolts you are expecting to face vs paths. More bolts = more exarchs, more paths = more pestermites.
I have since slightly tweaked the sideboard. Angers are pretty bad while explosives are pretty good. The changes are:
-2 Anger of the Gods
+1 Grim Lavamancer
+1 Engineered Explosives
I love disruption, so I run 4 discard spells, 2 IOK and 2 duress. I've added 3 tasigur and with him in the deck I'm going to run darkblast as an early ping and GY enabler instead of thought scour, and test out stubborn denial.

So I gave the white splash a go last FNM. I was playing 4 Path and 4 Geist MB but it just seemed really bad. Perhaps it was just the matchups I had that night or something but I never felt like I could profitably attack with Geist. So I've gone ahead and went back to just UR Twin to see how that goes. Unfortunately I don't own Goyfs so a green splash is out for me. I may try the grixis list out but we have another person playing grixis twin in the meta so I'm not sure about it.
I've been meaning to ask everyone here, but how much does acquiring UR twin on MTGO roughly cost? I've been meaning to get into MTGO just was never sure if i was ready to invest in virtual magic and finally decided i want to.
@ Sasky: thanks for the SB update luckily our meta no longer has affinity or burn so i will have a few SB slots that are free. Also i was never aware of the more paths = pestermite part though so i learned something new today.
@ Dutch253: Any chance i could tempt you to play Grixis to mirror match with the other grixis twin player? im interested to hear the results and your thoughts sadly i'm the only Twin player around here and in the nearby towns so i never get the chance to test those anymore. I tried the white version as well Geist didn't feel worth the mana investment unless i was on the play and could drop it turn 3.
This is my list of RUG Twin that I've been playing recently. It's fairly similar to the list I top8'ed the Richmond Premier IQ with, but with some minor tweaks to the sideboard and obviously the removal of Dig Through Time.
Some things to note: Firespout is likely just better than Anger of the Gods since Pod is no longer a deck. I honestly cannot think of any deck it hates on that is going to be a significant portion of any meta, especially a wide open one like the PT or a modern GP/Open. If anyone has any thoughts on that, I'd be interested in hearing them. I'm still unsure about some of the sideboard numbers. I have liked the Obstinate Baloths, they being a recent addition, and now there is probably even more of a reason to run it in my opinion. I have wanted to cut the Flame Slash from the main deck, but I'm not sure what to put in its place. In the past, I've run Forked Bolt, even before the advent of Treasure Cruise Delver, and it was okay. Some additional options I have considered are putting Izzet Charm back in, playing either a fourth Pestermite or third Deceiver Exarch, and playing a mainboard Keranos. Additionally, I put the Tectonic Edges back in. I cut them for an extra Island and Sulfur Falls before the Richmond IQ to aid in casting DTT (and also because the card is mostly just a colorless land against Delver), and now with that card gone and the format in a fair bit of flux pre-Pro Tour, I like having the Tectonic Edge back in the deck.
Also, I REALLY think that people should be playing Huntmaster of the Fells in the RUG Twin deck. Card is really sweet and is excellent against the grindy midrange decks.
I've been meaning to ask everyone here, but how much does acquiring UR twin on MTGO roughly cost? I've been meaning to get into MTGO just was never sure if i was ready to invest in virtual magic and finally decided i want to.
It's actually toward the higher end of MTGO Modern decks, price-wise. MTGGoldfish has UR Twin lists running around $700 and up.
On another note, I've been trying to make the move to Grixis, and I'm liking the look of the Grixis lists that pop up on this thread. I'm expecting the meta to be heavier on BGx. Grixis seems a little more balanced and it's better at handling multiple Siege Rhino/Tarmogoyf, which is something that straight UR Twin struggles with. This is the list that I'm thinking of running over the next few weeks.
Trying to be a little lighter on the combo and heavier on alternate win-cons, which might be a huge mistake. UR has slicker mana/tempo, but opening up Tasigur and hard removal for big-booty threats should work. In theory. Wondering what tweaks I should make (probably need to make room for Murderous Cut), and the sideboard probably needs help. It's a bit of a pile.
Interest in how your URw list is doing, Magix.
GosT looks nice but historically does not fare very well against BGx deck as they usually get a huge blocker on its way or edict him with Liliana.
I agree that Keranos is a more and more debatable slot in the sideboard.
Tasigur does a really good job to tank BGx and Aggro though. I don't run any discard spell in the mainboard in my Grixis list. I just splash black for 3 Tasigur, 2 Terminate and 1 Murderous Cut. So far it's been rather okay.
In the sidebard, i have duresses and Damnation as well as Rakdos charm and slaughter games. Damnation has been great so far.
I run a Geist Twin list, that does struggle against Junk. Blockers don't bother me too much since I have a lot of removal and 6 mite/exarch to tap them down. Lily is more of the problem, and Dreadbore in the grixis build has my eye. And you still get to hit with 4 with the geist. If you do run geist you need to have Eiganjo Castle as a land. It can help a lot. Remember, if you play W you do get access to Path to Exile. As magix said above, people will misplay against your deck if they only see Geist/counters and resto. I have done this a few times. They thought I was playing American midrange, and then when I pull off the turn 4 combo they are totally confused.

No idea because my favorite decks keep getting banned or having the rules changed against them

It seems your deck is really geared to have better game against B/Gx decks. Have you thought about Thragtusk? My issues with baloth and to a lesser extent huntmaster is before they were good because B/Gx decks would just have gofys to compete but now Junk decks are running Siege Rhino and lets not forget path to exile. Yeah he's one mana more but he's less mana intensive gains you 5 life and even if he gets pathed you get great value out of him. He can also trade profitably with siege rhino
I've been meaning to ask everyone here, but how much does acquiring UR twin on MTGO roughly cost? I've been meaning to get into MTGO just was never sure if i was ready to invest in virtual magic and finally decided i want to.
This shows a little bit of data on the prices. Most of them are $800-$900, but tend to be RUG twin with Tarmogoyf. Along the side is a list of all the recent successful lists. Scanning through that, it seems like a straight UR list could be constructed more towards $400. If you don't like the lists you see, you could also search the cards you would want for your list (and potential toolbox for tweaks) and then check mtgo pricing.
I'm really liking UWR twin so far. It's super fun. This is the list I'm currently running (I also posted this in the UWR Twin thread but it seems inactive and people are talking about the white splash here):
The tapping of blockers with exarch/pestermite to allow geist to attack in happens constantly. Path seems very good against all the goyfs, rhinos, and exarchs running around. My sideboard could probably make more use of white as well, but I absolutely love both Kor Firewalkers and Wear // Tears.
Grixis lists that are appearing seem to lack discards. Are we splashing black mainly for Tasigur alone? Here is the build Im trying out.what do you guys think. I know the sideboard is incredibly iffy. Do comment and help me out. Thanks!
The Discard builds seems to be a bit more midrange and less tempo. Looks like you're really leaning on Bolt for removal. I'd look to get a Terminate in the 75 as it really is one of the things B brings to the table.
There's an argument that discard plays are not tempo plays because your opponent just makes a different play instead. You are disrupting their plans, but not setting them back whole turns like you might in a pure tempo build. It does allow you to perhaps dictate more, and see what is coming so you can take advantage. Proactive v. reactive.

Legacy RB Goblins
I´ve been experimenting with UR twin in the last few weeks, I used to play with UWR control and while i really liked having answers for pretty much anything, the lack of a fast killing condition other than 4/4 lands when the game was under control, cost me quite a lot of games so I thought I´d try my hand using UR Twin, I always loved the card Blood Moon, and I have been playing it like a control deck with the combo kill and let me tell you, I love it! Playing control becomes a lot easier when your opponents are not playing their spells to leave mana up to disrupt the combo even if you don´t have it, I´ve won more games without using the combo than with it.
That being said, I still believe I need a lot of practice with this deck, that´s why I have Gitaxian probes maindeck. I was at GP Mexico this weekend and while my result there was not great, it did give me a chance to enter a modern open, my first tournament with the deck.
I believe the sideboard need a lot of work, but i decided to take this deck to the modern open, here´s a quick Recap
Match 1
vs. GBU Infect
Both games were rather easy since i drew spellskite twice, His deck wasn´t anything out of the ordinary and I just outclassed him on both games
1-0
Match 2
vs. Mono black Aggro
Again, both games were rather easy since he had no disruption at all and at both games he tapped out for vampire nighthawk on turn 3 while I had the combo in hand.
2-0
Match 3
vs. Jund
This was a pretty intense matchup, on game one he got a little stuck on mana, but i couldn´t take advantage of it, I started beating down with Vendilion Clique and Deceiver Exarch, he was at 12, and finally found his second swamp, he had Courser in play and played Liliana, made us discard, thankfully I could bolt, snapcaster, bolt for the win, I´m certain that if I hadn´t won that turn, he had the game in the bag.
Game 2 he had a pretty good hand with 3 discard spells crippling my hand, i got very lucky and topdecked Blood moon on turn 3, played it and he couldn´t play a spell all game (I love that card!)
3-0
Match 4
vs. Junk
Again, pretty tough matchup, in game 1 i probed him to see 2 Tarmogoyfs, 2 Abrupt decay and 1 Lingering Soul... tried to battle trough double bolting a goyf and up until the last turn hoping to topdeck splinter twin, I didn´t and he got me.
I won game 2 with him stuck on 3 non-basic lands and me playing blood moon
Don´t remember much about game 3 only that i managed to resolve a batterskull only to have it path to exiled on the last turn.
3-1
Match 5
vs. Merefolk
This match showed me why I chose this deck, game 1 he plays a bunch of merefolk and drops me down to 3 with 4 creatures in play, unfortunately for him he had tapped out, thinking i was playing UR aggro and i was holding the combo in hand.
Game 2 i lost pretty badly with him having 2 troptor orbs in play and vapor snagging my batterkull
Game 3 was a nailbiter, at some point of the game i had batterskull in hand, was at 3 life with a spellskite in play and he had only lord of atlantis, he had already snagged my spellskite 2 turns in a row, at my EOT he snags my skite again, I mana leaked it with 1 land opena, he tries to remand the leak but i had a snare I had just drawn that turn, so i could keep a blocker to stop him from killing me unless he drew a lord, he didn´t on the first turn, I played batterskull and tapped our, he didn´t drew it on the second turn and when I started attacking with it it was over.
4-1
Match 6
vs. Burn
Ohhh burn, I think this deck has an even matchup against mono red but in game 1 i got beat pretty bad and was dead by turn 4, it was one of those draws that you really can´t stop.
On game 2 i resolved a couple of spellskites and stabilized at 7 life, the turn i played batterskull he dealt 4 to me with Boros charm and tried to kill me with lightning bolt, i redirected to spellskite and was left with 1 life, he couldnt topdeck a burn spell and batterskull got him.
game 3 he muliganed to 5 and even so, he got me down to 4 when i went off with the combo, we checked the next card on his library and it was flames of the blood hand, THIS is why i chose twin over UWR.
5-1
All in all I couldn´t be happier with the deck, I realize that luck helped me in some of my matches, but i do realize that by learning to play the deck a bit better I can minimize the situations in which i need luck to bail me out.
I´ve read a lot of comments here that junk is the worst matchup for the deck and i have to agree, that´s why I don´t really feel that playing 3 blood moons is a lot, also if Burn becomes more prevalent i might add a couple of chalice of the void to the sideboard, do you think they are better than Dragon´s claw?
Anyway thanks for reading guys sorry if my english is not that good at times, and if you have any questions or suggestions, ill be glad to talk them over.
The list is really cool but I agree 20 lands? Especially when you're running 3 colors. I wouldn't run 4 of tasigurs that just seems too much and has higher potential for dead draws.
On the other hand two main deck deprive........that sounds awesome I may try it. I don't know if it'll be good but sometimes I wish I had a hard counter for siege rhino and the like.
Ok, so lets go over what we've learned in the last week about Grixis. This is mostly for summary and helping other players catch up who dont read the forums often enough.
1. Creeping Tar Pit is slow and very awkward to activate with 22 land.
2. Discard is not entirely where we want to be, though some players (including myself) think it has a roll. This role might be deligated to the sideboard. Reguardless of its place, the dession to play Thoughtseize over Inquisition of Kozilek has pretty much been solidified, as it hits more problematic cards.
3. Terminate is a power house and potentially the MAIN reason to splash black. However an intrest in Dreadbore to deal with Planewalkers has arisen and mentions of Murderous Cut to help control what the opponent has left to choose from in our GY off a Tasigur trigger too.
4. Tasigur, the Golden Fang is also a power house, and to power him faster 1-2 Thought Scour have been recommended by several players.
5. There is interest in Olivia Voldarn over Tasigur.
6. Sideboarding: Molten Rain Vs Fulminator Mage Vs Spreading Seas - Personally i still thing Fulminator is the choice, fogs out an attack step and removes a land simultaniously and can also be equipped by Splinter Twin "LIVE THE DREAM". Rakdos Charm - All modes seem relivant and strong. Sower of Temptation - Saskey - can be abrupt decay'd lets control those rhinos.
I Managed to go undefeated with both Tarmo and Tasi Twin at a local events.
I think they are about even. Being able to get around Spell Snare, Slaughter Pact, Abrupt Decay is pretty huge while shrinking Gofys is pretty huge.
And Goyf is just Goyf
I do miss some of the Enchantment/Arifact Hate that Green has to offer.
Both Tarmo/Tasi Twin have zero life gain and are both susceptible to Burn Decks.
Perhaps thats when UWR Twin Comes in...
If I can figure out a decent way to deal with Burn decks, I'd probably stick with Tasigur for now. Access to Thoughtseize+Fulimnator Mage is pretty nice against UWR Midrange. I am somewhat leaning towards Dragon Claws... maybe not... Ideas?
Also I have been testing out Pyroclasm vs Anger of the Gods. Being able to deal with Lingering Souls/Geist is pretty nice when on the draw.
If we talk about Pyroclasm vs Anger I would add Volcanic Fallout to the mix. Hits Affinitys Manlands too, UWr cant defend Geist if you draw it later on (despite resto) and it may kill Liliana + Souls if you want it in this MU (not sure about that but it should work). Imo Angers exile clause is no longer needed without Persist guys and Voice.
zoo is a thing where i am so i am using firespout

Deck with Wall of Omens. The article isn't too exciting. The UR one was better, with SB plan and all.

6. Sideboarding:
Molten Rain Vs Fulminator Mage Vs Spreading Seas - Personally i still thing Fulminator is the choice, fogs out an attack step and removes a land simultaniously and can also be equipped by Splinter Twin "LIVE THE DREAM".
Rakdos Charm - All modes seem relivant and strong.
Sower of Temptation - Saskey - can be abrupt decay'd lets control those rhinos.
Notable cards
Izzet Charm
Deprive
Far // Away
Being able to deal with Lingering Souls/Geist is pretty nice when on the draw.
zoo is a thing where i am so i am using firespout
