Those going to Madrid I'm curious what your plan is for the Ascendency deck? I have only played it once, and managed to beat it 2-1. But in terms of brokenness its so far beyond anything else in the format right now. I'm currently on the 'side in more counters but still probably die horribly' plan
We are one of the few decks that can beat it (the others being UWR/Esper, Burn, Delver). The turn 3 kill happens but it isn't as common as a lot of people think. We can Remand/Bolt our way to a combo. Early pressure from a Goyf helps, but don't tap out obviously. I have 2 Spell Snare in the SB since we have a JA player at my LGS. The most important thing to counter is Caryatid (besides Wish and Ascendancy). Snare hits Wish and Caryatid, which are both pretty crucial to their game plan.
A newer build uses faerie conclave as one of their mana dorks, as well as fatestitcher recurred from the graveyard. Not as fast but potentially more resilient. Same premises to beat it though.

If they aren't as fast then that is good news for us. If we get to turns 4 or 5 either deck has a shot. If they get the nut draw on turn 2 on the play and we don't have a Spell Snare or something we are just dead (unless they fizzle, which can happen)
The Deceiver exarch 3/2 Pestermite split has done wonders, have had players waste 3 cards in total on Deceiver, 1 remand (got dispelled) and than an anger + bolt to finish him, super fun. Also the Pyroclasms do decent work against a lot of decks.
What do we do vs. Merfolk if we can't find the combo soon enough? I find it an unfavorable mu for TarmoTwin.
The big ones that I would bring in though are Spellskite and Engineered Explosives. Spellskite will be an early blocker and protect your combo from Vapor Snag, and Engineered explosives will wipe their board. EE on 2 hits Spreading Seas, Master of the Pearl Trident, Silvergill Adept, Lord of Atlantis, and Phantasmal Image.
so i noticed going back into October that this style of twin was mentioned but not discussed further since the majority of posts have been about RUG.
I retooled the original list's fetches from 4 scalding tarn 1 arid mesa 2 misty rainforest to fit my available fetches. That change necessitated a stomping ground to become a breeding pool.

If you are on the tempo plan, I would have a 3/3 split of Pestermite and Exarch (or even 4/2, but Lightning Bolt is a consideration). Exarch is not ver tempo-y. How has 20 lands been working for you? I am at 22 and definitely do not want to go lower. Are you running Treasure Cruise instead of DTT because of the land count? I just don't see TC being what we want in a deck where are primary win condition is a two card combo
@venomous 72
Yes it is 4 exarch because of my meta being heavy burn and delver. Some decks are playing gut shot to interact with ascension's mana dorks early as well.
The cruise/YP goes with a game one plan where you can conceal the combo and be looking like you are u/r delver.
This can causes people to side like I'm playing u/r delver.
This list lets me twin when I get it and get pushy or stall with everything else in the mean time. This again is a meta thing because of the high burn and delver in my meta. Game 2 YP buys me time to land batterskull.
20 lands are great with 4 serum and 4 probe.
Something to consider, especially with the advent of new cruise-delver, is volcanic fallout. It wipes their board, can't be countered, and might come in handy for the extra 2 damage.

Leaving for Madrid in a few hours and really gtg sleep now so maybe I'll post some more tomorrow if I get the chance.

Take it down Patrick! Rooting for ya!
I just returned from gp Madrid ( Friday registration day).. I saw a lot of the expected stuff... Delver burn scape shift zoo- tribal.... But I saw too many copies of boogles and ascendancy! I'm going to find room in my sb for at least 1 copy of natures claim and another engineered explosives .. My current version has 2 mb volcanic fallout in place of the 4 dig and flame slash... We'll see how she goes or blows tomorrow:)

I predict Boggles blowing up GP Madrid to be honest. I actually think the top 8 should be fairly diverse. I am really excited to see how Ascendancy does.
I think I'd rather run feed the clan. The blocking effect is nice but you have a bunch of guys that can block delver all day in exarchs and huntmaster tokens or goyf. I mean, if you're going with Tree of Redemption you must be Temur Twin. Frankly the card I've been drilling Delver with is volcanic fallout, although I'm testing new tech in circle of flame. So far circle is terrific against YP and his tokens, not so much on MS or flipped delver.
On a side note, one deck I've had some issues with is BW tokens. I don't know if it's new but twice now I've lost when they cast polymorph and drop emrakul on the field. Maybe I'm just starting to see it, but keep an eye out. Without Twinning there's not much my deck can do with that.

Sure, there is a chance of spending $4 on a booster and getting the Mythic Rare $30 super card. There is also a chance of surviving putting your tongue in a light socket.
Tree of Redemption, what do you think about it as a one-off in the sideboard? Being serious here.
Apart from enabling a two-card combo with your opponent's Twisted Image (a card that actually see a little bit of play), what does it do?
all twisted image will do is counter its ability no switch may happen if its in the grave. That being said there are better options for life gain after all dragon claw is rather easy to defend against burn/delver.for rug twin baloth can be played at the same cmc and gives its bonus a turn sooner, plus I dont think burn can beat splinter twin on a baloth very reasonably. Also has the upside of randomly housing lily otv.

Let your plans be dark and impenetrable as night, and when you move fall like a thunderbolt. ~sun tzu~
So i'm buying into modern and was strongly considering this deck, but I have a question whats you guy's opinion, I really like the tempo version but is the rug version just strictly better for that? Because I would like to keep it just U/R. The other deck I was considering was scapeshift, but i dont really like that if I draw too many mountains I just cant win at least thats how I understand it.
Format is moving quicker with the prevalence of burn and delver, cryptic is too slow for that. It's also too vulnerable to cheaper counterspells, and if you wait to hold up your own counters then it'll be forever before you can cast it.
Also, you are assuming you'll draw DTT in multiples if you run more than 2. We run 4 twin not because we want to draw them together, it's to increase our chances of drawing 1. With 1 DTT you can assess you situation when you cast it and you'll very likely find another one in your next 7, and you can determine whether you want to put those in your hand or if they'll be dead.
I need advice on RUG Twin main deck options. I was thinking what is the current main deck options to accommodate two copies of Dig Through Time. I still prefer to include 2 copies of Cryptic Command, but would that be too clunky? For RUG Twin, I want the deck to create an intimidating board presence, with the back of the combo plan. Should one copy of Dig Through Time is suffice for that?
