R/G Tron is almost unbeatable. It has better finishers and better clock.
Basically if you doesn`t combo on T3 - you lost.
Running LD maindeck with Surgical Extraction could help with matchup.
Splinter Twin is not the deck to be afraid of if running Linvala maindeck. Ghostly Prison also helps.
If you are running LD maindeck in order to beat Tron - Scapeshift shouldn`t be bad match up either. Kitchen Finks is the best card vs it.
Targeted discard also helps very good. Also - try not to pay life for lands, each fetch + shock untapped is -1 land they should fetch to kill you.
The reason why tron is bad is because they have 4 pyroclasms, 4 relic of progenitus and 3-4 oblivion stones. So all your creatures are going to die or you're never going to get to combo. This deck doesn't put a lot of power on the board, so beating a resolved karn is really hard.
What's everyone's opinion on playing 1 Stomping Grounds and getting a Realm Razor in this deck?
In theory, it's good against Tron and Scapeshift - heck, it's fine VS anything as long as you got a bigger board.
If you want an Armageddon, you could also sac it in response to it's EtB trigger.
It's too slow to be effective against Tron. I'm not certain how effective it is against other decks, but I'd guess it's slow in most cases. Probably most useful against Jund, Valakut, or Flash.

I haven't played it, but I know sneakattackkid likes it.
Realm Razer is awesome. Yes it beats tron allowing it to be a 40-60 instead of a 15-85. It also is armageddon. Armageddon beats a lot of decks including storm, twin, uw control. It also if you are up on the board wins vs every deck.
I've watched replays where he beats people with it, so it's a real card, especially since people don't see it coming. I don't know if it makes the tron match up 25% better, but i'm sure it improves it. I think it's worth trying out if you're sick of losing that match up, it's only 1 slot in the board and the land change is minimal. And realm razor is super cheap (at least online it is).
Thinking about taking this deck to a modern tournament at the weekend. Kind of combines Merlira and Kiki-Pod. There is nothing sweeter than podding Murderous Redcap -> Zealous Conscripts, untap pod, pod redcap -> Kiki-Jiki
Take out the Noble Hierarch and play with more Shamans. You should be able to reliably cast your red spells, so 1 more fetch with a Blood Crypt would help.
Also, I belive Maeltrom Pulse is better than Fiend Hunter in the board. the versatility is probably better than being tutorable.
Maybe Blasting Station would fit somehow, since it doesnt need colored mana.
And since you're playing red, it would be nice to have some Tron hate in the board.
I think the 2/1 split of deathrite/hierarch is fine. If you read pardee's report shaman makes it hard for you to go on the township plan since it can't tap for mana multiple times in a row. I play 4 deathrites and could see dropping 1 for noble. The online price is stopping me from doing that, don't feel like buying hierarchs at the peak.

I just recently got back into modern and so far I've been able to build melira pod with kiki jiki combo as well.
Im running 2 fire-lit thickets, 2 blood crypts, and 4 deathrites. Also 4 birthing pods, 1 fauna shaman, and 2 chord of the calling. You still have a lot of tools to get him. And pitching him for revelark and then sacing rev to get him, pretty good.
Wanna try a different modern deck, by now i only played URW/patriot delver... i'd like a different kind of playing (to improve myself as a magic player) and i'd like to carry a tier 1 deck.
Do you POD players think POD can be the right choice?
I hate Jund so no way for that. No splinter twin, too (i saw it losing SO MANY TIMES i can't even count them). I love affinity but it is too SB hated... is POD a sufficiently SOLID deck? I tried UW restoration too but it's definitely too slow for actual meta...
Me personally LOVE pod, and any kind of tutoring green based decks. The great thing with pod is you can change a lot of your targets around depending on the meta you expect, which is one of the harder things about it.
I played 5 matches last against jund and didnt lose a single one. Affinity is a little difficult if they stick multiple platings and a champion but kataki in the SB wrecks their day.
The deck is a blast to play and really competitive. I think the skill of the deck really falls onto the player as you have to make a lot of decisive plays on the spot.
Thanks for replying! I hate ignorant decks and i'd really like to play something brainer, but this means that first times i am gonna make lots of misplays... i hope that the deck is strong as much as i need to not make me pass the will to play because of losing every time (while i am learning to play it
In my FNM Meta there are:
1 Jund
1/2 Affinity
2 Tron
1 URW Delver (me)
1 MOnored
1 Splinter Twin
1 UW control
1 POD
so you can see it's pretty various. I usually come first or second, rarely third.
The guy with POD... he is a pretty skilled player, really. but, sometimes he gets top3... sometimes, he get LAST... and this happened lots of times, i mean, he is VERY discontinued. i can't understand it, it seems like the deck's not so solid and that's what i fear the most.
What variant of pod is he playing? And it all comes down to list. The last event I played melira pod was a PTQ last season and in swiss I only lost 1 game, not match, game. You need to have discipline and know your deck. From what I have heard tron is a terrible matchup and thus why you see some people talking about runnin the realm razor.
I believe it is the Naya one. I saw him playing Kiki-Jiki,Exarch, Birthing Pod and Restoration Angel.. and some other things. I believe also that he could run a very standard/netdeck list because he does not have any money problem, he has all the most expensive cards. But incredibly, i NEVER played against him (cpu matches us, as you'll surely know) so i NEVER played against POD. EVen on cockatrice it never happened (or if it happened... well, i have not had a single problem beating it!!!). I never played green because i don't really love its mechanics and it seems to me a little slow ..i know it sounds crazy cause it accelerates mana drawing, but i feel the creatures i tap to draw mana like a waste... a creature i tap is a creature less i can attack with.. i don't know if i am explaining myself and i KNOW that it's not like that, it's just a sensation i have, you know... so i don't know how to play it, basically and prolly this is why it seems to me not funny to play...
Well believe it or not Melira Pod tends to win most of its matches through mid-game beatdown via Gavony Township. Unless you're playing against a deck with limited interaction, rarely will you ever get the T3 combo off; usually it will happen explosively after procing Reveillark. So, if your style is to swing in for the win, Melira Pod might be the Pod list for you. Plus, black gives you access to Thoughtseize, Inquisition of Kozilek, Abrupt Decay, which are great ways to deal with Twin, Jund, UW, and Affinity.
Like Tal said, the Tron matchup is rough, and there isn't much you can do about it except to get lucky and outplay them. Realm Razor is a great option, but getting to him up the Pod chain is tough with all their BS. Personally, I've playtested against Jund, Twin, and UR Storm, and have done very well against all three.
At the end of the day, when playing this deck you have to really plan ahead, and never get tunnel vision while attempting to work towards winning. I still make plenty of misplays, focusing on some fancy-pants way to get out an answer when I can just Pod once to complete the combo and win, or vice versa. Be open to all your options; and believe me, you'll have plenty.
This is what really reflects the nature of this deck, i think. Yesterday i built a NAYA POD list and tried it ...3 games only against a friend of mine who was using scapeshift... he was helping me to learn so i didn't countered sometimes... what i noticed is, you have LOTS of otpions of play every turn.
I am always in doubt wheter to play a creature that can give me mana next turn (Wall of Hierarch) or Pod itself.
Even with Pod you can decide to search very different cards. Is very challenging (which i like) and even very... uhm, tiring. My brain needed some time to relax after a few games. Maybe that's because they were the very first times i played it, and i did not know my list well... but i fear that i could not sustain an entire tournament like that °-°
One thing i noticed, is that as a blue player (so this is prolly my feeling only) i don't have any counter, which makes me feel pretty "nude". I am not used to this situation, and when my friend started to counter at the second game, well, it was pretty frustrating. Pod was going to GY every single time. But i could not wait for him to be tapped because every turn he had lands untapped (we were in late game, and btw, he searched for lands a lot). How do you manage this? To use just Spellskite seems to me too little...
One other thing, is that we have lots of 1x which makes me feel kinda uncomfortable (i always thought 1x meant fragile build)... i think that those are to be played in response to the oppo's deck because each one is pretty hard to play aganst for a particular deck owner. This mean i have to know my list VERY well, and also know what to play against who.
Alright, so, sorry for all of this newbie impressions, they aren't in any way a critic to a deck that wins (top8s tell us so) but a way to know it, it inspired me and i think it could be the only archetype i could play other than my Patriot and Affinity (which i feel TOO FRAGILE to play with... that's why i am searching for another one...)... thanks to the ones who will spend their time to read what i wrote...
This is not how bans/unbans work. Its always the enabler that gets the ban, not the card that is being abused. If you would have Yawgmoths will + whatever cards - it would be Yawgs that would be banned. If you would have Stoneforge and batterskull - it would be stone who would be banned and that is exactly how it works. Furthermore, banning a card in order to unban a different card is a thought process that was and wont be never applied in practical means.
Yesterday got first with 3-1 in local Modern tournament.
Matches was:
Jund 2 - 0;
Rb burn 2 - 0; (Rb burn was at 12 creatures: Guides, Lavmancers, Vexing Devil)
MonoW humans 0 - 2; (did not expect Mirran crusader with sword equiped oO)
RB burn with DRS 2 - 1;
All I changed in my list from last turnament was moving Sigarda into sideboard from main and on her place i put Baneslayer Angel

I'll go the my first mordern fnm tomorrow... my big concern is a lot of players are really good and play the format for a long time... I don't know much about their deck but there is for sure 2 scapeshift and 1 kiki pod, 1 soulsister deck
Now I just read the scapeshift matchup is not good... that's really not a good news for me since the reason I'm playing this deck is because I have everything exept the chords that i'm planning to buy tomorrow... I'd like to stick to that deck.

Thanks for the advice... i do have 3 thoughtseize so i'll put them mainboard.
I don't own the other cards and I won't splash red at this point, simply because I haven't even tryed the deck yet :)... maybe I'll try 2 worship since I have them... But i don't have hight hope cause pyroclasm (or maybe i'm confused with the name... anyway the spell that deals 2 damage to each creature) seems to hurt a lot. Counterspells are annoying. And their wining combo is pretty much just a matter of time.
I do also have a few thragtusk... I'm wondering if putting one maindeck could be good... I realise I'm starting to up the mana curve a bit... I just want to go out of range of a quick scapshift valakut turn 5 or something... humm, also i guess a 4th finks.
hehehe... I'm going to end up with the strangest thing ever :/
Also on a different level... is there a way to abuse necrotic ooze in that deck? (I don't want the druid, quillspike combo) the ooze can do so much...there must be a way to win with it without changing the whole deck!
How good is Leyline of Sanctity? What other matchups does it help except scapeshift?
It is good but it is bad.
Explanation: it shut downs burn and scapeshift combo, helps with jund and a lot of other different decks, but it is only good if it is x4. And it is too much sideboard slots taken.

2 Murderous Redcap
1 Ranger of Eos

1 Chord of Calling
2 thoughtseize

If I had to invest I'd probably go for some chords of calling... but I'm not there yet... any other budget idea? (like under 5$ cards)... if so please suggest what i should remove for them
Also... I'm not buy any 10$ lands... but is my mana base ok like this?
I figured the deck could go combo with the 5 sac outlet + melira or mikaeus
or try the aggro way with a surprise worship to stay alive (just because I like that card)

If you take away G Township, you're playing a bad version of Naya Pod.
At least, that's my opinion.

Yes, it's the 2nd best card in the deck after birthing pod. It keeps you in the game if you don't get your combo or a birthing pod active.

There's a list here that had both combos:

Aven Mindcensor helps, so do Thoughtseize and Fulminator Mage. You could also splash red for Slaughter Games or Sowing Salt. Leyline of Sanctity is another decent option.
