the card itself really isn't worth the card board its printed on...does it serve a purpose? Sure its a blue 1 drop that might not be a 1/1. I would not put it in a list and expect to win a PTQ or GP though.
1 - Easier to meet mana requirement
2 - It keeps flipped delver alive, which sometimes is awesome.
hey, this is intriguing. There must be some reason its not a staple. Is it because against the decks you need to wipe, u generally dont want delvers anyway? Plus it doesn't work well against affinity....
I've been considering a copy of Kozi's return, to supplement the angers.
1) With Abzan CoCo as one of the best decks of the format I can't see a deck running Firespout in the place of Anger.
2) You'll never use the green part of the spell, so maybe Rough/Tumble is better (just with a meta full of Zoo decks the third point of damage starts to become relevant).
3) You'll not be able to kill Ornithopters, Vault Skirges, Lingering Souls tokens, Birds of Paradise and other flying creatures. I think sometimes it's better to lose a Delver and clear their board. You are the one who knows this and could prepare your hand better for the post-wrath game.
On this whole sweeper discussion: What about Radiant Flames? Easy mana cost like Firespout, but being able to control the damage output seems like it could come in pretty handy sometimes (run along with Anger, cuz Anger exiling is too relevant to cut).

after reviewing my past matches over the last 2 weeks, the 3rd point of damage doesn't really come up. What does come up is either being able to exile (finks, voice) and color matters (etched champ, master of waves). I can see why Overturf elected to have 2 magma sprays in the side and am seriously considering it for the abzan match ups.
I may switch my angers to Kozi's return. If Kird Apes and company decide to make a comeback, I'll adjust again. But presently, I haven't seen bushwhacker zoo in my meta enough.

Hey guys Got a short report from Modern Monday last night. Went 3-0.
Round 1, BW Tokens, 2-0
Game 1 was long and grindy, me trying to keep a Westvale Abbey from flipping a good chunk of the game. Luckily, he didn't draw Lingering Souls, so Delver eventually got there, but him gaining 10 life dragged the game on. The turn before I killed him, he drew Sorin, Solemn Visitor, which I Remanded, which totally saved me.
In: Staticaster, EE, 2x Countersquall
Out: 3x Snare (literally 0 relevant 2 drops), Pillar of Flame
Game 2 was much faster. Turn 1 Delver, flipped, turn 3 Angler, he had a slow start and I just kinda ran over him, Terminating and Bolting his blockers, then Bolt+Kommand to finish.
Round 2, RG Dragons, 2-0
Game 1 was insanely fast, I killed him on turn 4. Turn 1 Delver, flip, hit for 3, turn 3 hit for 3, he fetched, turn 4 hit for 3 + triple Bolt. He drew all ramp, no finisher.
We both didn't really have anything good to board in, and I felt favored already, so we didn't sideboard.
Game 2 was similar, but slower. Turn 2 Tasigur got there, double Bolt to finish. He drew all finishers, no ramp this time. He just wasn't fast enough at all, though he did kill my Delver with a Draconic Roar with a dragon in play, which hurt.
Round 3, Burn, 2-1
Last time I played this same guy with the same deck, I lost. I didn't have Snare at that time. I did this time. He changes decks every week, so I didn't know what he was on this time.
Game 1, Snare did it's thing. It completely swung the entire game. Angler got there after a bit of me trading cards with him. It was super close, I was at 5 life for the last 4 turns, him at 15. Once he finally ran out of gas, Angler finished it quickly.
In: 2x Countersquall, Kalitas, Dispel, EE, 1x Anger of the Gods
Out: YP, 2x Remand, 3x JVP (new strategy for the matchup I tried... It was good)
Game 2, I mulled to 4 before I saw a single land, then never saw another one. He had a very good hand as well, I would likely have lost anyways. I died in under 2 minutes, his turn 4.
Game 3, I mulled to 6 and had two landwith double Snare. He also mulled to 6. I just rolled him over with Snare and Tasigur. This game wasn't very close, I was still above 10 life at the end.
Ryan was 100% correct about Snare throwing the Burn matchup into our favor. Otherwise, everything seems very solid, and I'm quite happy with the list. YP overperformed all night, single-handedly taking games. Even as just a turn 3 play and get one token, it was quite good. Just a one of, though.
Out: YP, 2x Remand, 3x JVP (new strategy for the matchup I tried... It was good)
First: The tokens list didn't run Intangible Virtue, Bitterblossom or Honor of the Pure? What list is that? Haha, Snare is the best counter for the anthem effects!
Second: JVP? I can't imagine a world where JVP is better then Snapcaster with 8-9 counters in our deck.

Congrats for the finish anyway!
I don't own any Snaps, so I use JVP. He's done quite well, especially in grindy matchups. I don't feel I've lost much. Once I can get Snaps, I'll use them though.
He couldn't afford Bitterblossom, and was running Intangible Virtue, but I felt rather than have a card that can literally only hit Virtue, I'd rather have sweepers and be aggressive and kill him using Countersquall to get the anthems.
And thank you

It's the plan, but if your opponent could stick a anthem your Staticaster is worthless. I don't know if it's right, but against a BW Tokens deck I will board out 1 or 2 Terminate (since targeted removal is bad against them) and/or Remand rather then the Snares...
Hey guys. I play mostly UR Delver, but Grixis seems like it would be better suited for my local meta. I played Grixis a little bit when Tasigur first came out, since then it seems like a lot of lists have cut Gitaxian Probe. Can you explain why? I'm also curious if anyone has had any success with Thing in the Ice.

Giaxian is not a good card by itself, it's good in combination with YP but many of us don't play any YP anymore. Also our manabase it's painful enough to 2 life being sometimes game defining.
Thing in the ice nombos with our delve creatures and it's better fitted for a proactive gameplan, and this deck runs a lot of counters.
Hi friends!! Im building the deck and it will be a little long journey until it's complete, so Im here to ask what is the best replacement for Snapcasters, I know he's a must have, but it will take a very long time for me to get the playset. I'll be grateful for the answers!

I was at your stage once. The answer given me was quite straightforward: Don't play grixis, then.
However, it should be noted that SageofTheSixPaths has reported success with Jace, Vryn's Prodigy. Perhaps you can give that a go, since the price is sliding significantly. A playset should be about half that of 4 snapcasters.

Kevin Jones is on Grixis Delver and just beat Hoogland on Kiki-Chord in 3 with Ryan Overturf commentating. Hopefully we'll get to see a list or two in the top 32.

Yeah, I just saw the recap of that match. Kikki-Chord isn't an easy matchup either. It's quite interesting that Kevin Jones picked up the deck, it's not typical for him. He must believe it's rather well positioned right now. I think it's in a pretty good spot.
