Yes, if nothing else, it's a huge upgrade to Burrenton Forge-Tender, which is widely-played in sideboards. I don't think it's a maindeck card at the moment, but it's definitely something I could see sideboarding in.

“Modern has provided us a non-rotating format that is far more accessible than Legacy or Vintage, but still retains many of the qualities that people enjoy in those formats—such as a more stable metagame, the ability to play and tweak the same deck week after week, and simply a much more powerful card pool than Standard.”

I'd prefer forge tender for its ability to sit in play and not get electroloze until you decide to use it, but this new dude protects you from everything so it could definitely be worth making a 1 for 1 swap in the sideboard. I'm probably going to since this will have a date stamped version :3
I know I do. I'll be replacing my 2 Serra Avenger with it
I wont be replacing my BFT with these in the SB... But I feel like this could be a Main Deck option... Serra Avenger seems like the perfect spot. 2/2 spellskite/selfless spirit split seems sweet!
I respect to selfless spirit, I really like it. I have played dauntless escort in a lot of my GW builds in the past and it can put some work in. I think it's a cheap way to get this effect sometimes by surprise with a vial on two, but wouldn't keep my vial there just for that. Drop it as another bear crack it if you have to, swing it sideways if not. Probably best fit in in go wide versions like catmix's lingering taxes or something of that light that can get wrecked by a clasm effect, but still good somewhere in the 75 of just about all versions of D&T. Sorry I took a bit of a break for a week or so, just had to clear mind and had some random things come up in life but I'm here.
Definitely liking Selfless Spirit as a potential option for monowhite lists. Monowhite still lacks that additional maindeck 2 drop option. Selfless spirit has the right mana cost (ie. only one white), 2 power with evasion, and a very relevant ability. If it turns out to be maindeck worthy for monowhite, then that could open up some sideboard slots that are usually filled by forge tender, which is also a bonus (although BFT has lots of other things going for it than just stopping red sweeper as others have already pointed out)
My Modern decks: Death and Taxes, Hatebears, Well Oiled Machine, Merfolk, Nyx Wave, Soul Sisters, Stompy, Matyr Proc, Naya Zoo, Robots (I refuse to call it affinity!), Bogles, Kiki Chord
I really like the spirit as well. 1 toughness is relevant though. I will try it out but I am weary of getting blown out by lingering souls. The sac ability seems very relevant though. Even if it's just a combat trick it can be good. It will probably come in and out of my lists depending on the meta.

So while I am waiting to the new set comes out I decided to brew around a bit and try out catmixs' favorite card in wall of resurgeance. Now I can;t cut blade slicer I love that card for too much to let it go, but i tried to create a version that could use 4 of each....that is a lot of slots for "beaters" but I figured see how it would run. So far I have been very haptp with the list. Mono whit ebeing able to run 3 tec edge is great against tron and control matchups. Having both splicer and wall make the aggro matches much easier. The 1x spellskite is always welcome in the main when I can fit it, even more so with the amount of x/3 creatures in the deck. elspeth wins the grindy games and 9 flicker affects (4 flickerwisp, 3 resto and 2 displacer) are great with the added utility. I am using the mutavault over the nexus due to the fact i am still running blade splicer so a 5/5 first strike is king most games. if only running the wall i would probably go to the blinkmoth nexus.
I've been on the B/W Eldrazi hype train for the past month, but I always feel like I either win handily (3 wins 1 draw/loss) or have to fight my own deck more than my opponents due to awkward hands, at times messy mana and no way to generate card advantage (and going 1-3). Any of the other taxes lists that are less swingy you guys would recommend for someone with a larger wallet than wit?
