Thx, DrRuler! It's as midrangey as it gets! It got me brewing a little. Just like the cards I pointed out yesterdaythat are really powerful in this meta. So here's the resulting list : http://decks.deckedbuilder.com/d/157818
It's : a Chalice deck that's fairly aggressive and got lot's of removal, all sorts of Bridge enabler (hand, dumped) yet ways to refill, too! In myi maybe 100 of goldfish games streak [1. see how i curve out, and 2. when exactly would i likely stabilize, then, 3. how long do i take to turn the corner and get the kill?], I've noticed the list's surprisingly STRONG synergy with Sea Gate Wreckage.
As anold school control player that has played the deck in the golden age of the Bridge-lock discovery, I know the strenght of the lock. However, there are only four cards that really allow you to then proceed to kill : its Mr Tezz. Well, not only a sea gate wreckage allows us to chcle through our library TWICE as fast, but it also enables EVERY TURN Tar Pit Beats. I might just put it back together and take it out for play.
Edit : sideboard somewhat tweaked against Eldrazi (Torpor orb, Arbiter). And included some MB TKS b/c card is the nuts, so why not?
Also: DISMEMBER its target, in responsr to Eldrazi Mimic's trigger, and the Mimic dies too! WooooOt! Edit again : No, it's a you may.
Inspired by jokers list :3, Coretapper + Power Conduit almost creates a countertop effect with Chalice of the Void. While at it, throwing a silly idea, dismantleling a Darksteel Reactor effectively doubles it's charge counters. The only problem with Darksteel Reactor is that it doesn't do anything else except diluting the game plan and being an unreliable win condition. Surge Node also seems like an interesting artifact albeit it's limited uses and the fact that you have to spend a mana to do it each time. Also with that amount of 0 drops, is it possible/reliable to use Reshape into Lotus Bloom?
Also: DISMEMBER its target, in responsr to Eldrazi Mimic's trigger, and the Mimic dies too! WooooOt! Edit again : No, it's a you may.
I'm sorry, but that is not how it works: The dismember's target will die and when the triggered ability of the mimic tries to resolve it will be countered because it doesn't have a valid target. It would be nice if this trick worked... Edit: I see you edited your post
On another note... I'm still testing and I don't like Mox Opal in my deck... it's too unreliable. I think I will remove the pyrite spellbombs, the moxes and the Academy ruins (I was never using it with death coluds in the deck) and add 1 mana rock, 3 dismember, 1 Damnation and a land to determine (an urborg or a ghost quarter are my options)
Actually, as weird as it is even to me, straight from WotC's website :
"Use the new creature’s power and toughness at the time the ability resolves to determine the base power and toughness of Eldrazi Mimic. If that creature is no longer on the battlefield at that time, use its power and toughness when it left the battlefield. (Keep in mind that those values may be negative, for example if a spell like Spatial Contortion giving it +3/-3 is what caused it to leave the battlefield.)" -- So it's really the "you may" clause that kills the plan.

Thanks! Had not free time for watchin', did you get a chance to? How did its match-ups look like?
Interesting tech :
- Sunken ruins (I'm in love with Sea Gate Ruins in my bridge build, so that helps with that while also helping with double MB Damnation that's really good right now. And Lili.) ;
- MB Wurmcoil, I can get behind that. I started running Batterskull in that slot, though ;
- Ob Nixilis : hummmmm. Slow?
- SB : Eldrazi hate is interesting. Did he get to play against them?
whats the proper use for painter's servant here? doom blade, slaughter, and capsule?
Servant is sideboard for eldrazi to end their colorless triggers. It does pair hilariously with hibernation though, providing you opt for green on servant.

Derp, totally blanked on the "colorless" triggers. Ty for explaining!
Also, I'm glad to see the Ob inclusion. I added him to my list a while ago but haven't had a chance to test it with him included.
So how do you guys think Tezz decks stack up against the Eldrazi menace??? I've been looking for an excuse to build Tezz in Modern for about 2 years now and figured Ensaring Bridge is just insane against them and our animated Darksteel Citadel just blocks all day long.
Us + Reddit theorycrafting + Jeff Hoogland would like to think we're positionned decently. Testinghasbeen limited, however. Your input would be most welcomed

Is ensnaring bridge fast enough? The drop 2 mimics turn one, which turn into 3/2s next turn, which turn into 5/5's next turn. If you have bridge, and if you can cast enough spells you can slow them down. I think something like echoing decay might be potent against their mimics.

Longtime lurker, I've had interest in Tezzeret for awhile. On the Hoogland stream it wasn't looking too good. He lost to Eldrazi G1, beat a Miracles deck G2, lost to Grishoalbrand G3, and was losing badly to DnT G4 when I quit watching. His build looked good on paper, but he was mulliganing left and right, got flooded a bunch, etc. Definitely something to it, though. I'm interested to see where the refinements go.
I was watching Jeff's stream and commented that I thought he needed atleast 2x Thirst For Knowledge or Anticipate. Theoretically, Ensnaring Bridge, Tezz should be good in this "meta", I'd go back to a UB manabase, Liliana's and Disfigure. Keep cmc's low and run IOKs/Thoughtseize along with Smother/Doom Blade. Damnation is also a good choice.
Basically stall and kill the small Affinity, Infect and Burn threats, then drop a Bridge or Damnation on Eldrazi. Spellskite is still good to deal with the Affinity hate that will still exist against us.
I personally hated Jeff's list. I think it just showed a lack of experience wit the deck. His list didn't have enough artifact, and ran odd cards like wurmcoil when using bridge as the wincon. He also has way to much main deck removal in my opinion.

Honestly it looks like one my really old builds, lemme see if I can find one...
This one got featured over here when I placed in a daily I think:
No 2 CMC spot removal was a mistake I fixed later, also this was pre Polluted Delta and Hangarback.
One of the things Hoogland said is he didn't like Thirst for Knowledge since there is already the potential for a lot of card advantage inherently through the powerful spells. I have always liked my playset of Serum Visions since I stopped using Thirst as much since it helps with that problem of those odd starting hands or helping against flood.
Also the reason I stopped using Trinket Mage is because you had to play some sub-par cards like Executioner's Capsule and things like Chalice aren't as good on turn 4. But maybe with some more early interaction it could be better, Disfigure is a great card that seems missing from his list.

i've been out of the game awhile (again), and I keep hearing that chalice is really strong right now - can anyone explain why? I've always loved the card, but it seems if any deck could ever maindeck it it's this one, and if it's really good right now it might be the push I need to really commit to this deck
Because the meta Is shifting to aggro in an attempt to beat this unstoppable Eldrazi threat.that means burn, zoo, boggles, infect, affinity are all up in numbers. And chalice on 1 wrecks these decks. Or 0 on affinity if you're on the play.
That being said chalice has like tripled in price. This deck is very expensive to play between bridge chalice damnation and Opal I'd you play it.
