I'd say yes. Helps it dodge some removal and also companion is more likely to just trade with other creatures. We do need a better two drop though. Hoping something gets printed this year to help us out there.
I was actually wondering about Leyline of Vitality for the board as a lolwut card for certain aggresive matchups like Zoo and Burn, which are perhaps slightly favorable but easily lost if we stumble. Incidental lifegain and a bigger ass means our lads dodge Bolt and a Tusker can eat a Nacatl... Also it feeds Aspect like a baws.
Pretty straightforward. Is the 3 defense of Kalonian worth the loss of trample on Garruk's Companion? What do you guys think?
U know I never really liked elder, even though it would theoretically be a good card on paper but in practice I never really find him bigger then a 3/3 and if he does get bigger then that then we're flooding and for three mana you could just play a fourth Baloth, plus it also gives you more devotion and is just bigger most of the time. Just my two cents, I play the deck a fair bit and find this too be more true. Also a fourth tusker is way too good and better then Thrun, he should stay in the sideboard but it also depends on your meta and land cout, you should also bump the land count to at least 22 min. it allows us too hit 3 land pretty consistently which is also a important factor. Last but not least you should put 3 treetop's in here for an extra beater and post wrath threat. Something too think about. You want consistency.
If predictions as to Modern becoming a MUCH more degenerate format with Twin gone and Eldrazi on the Rise (pun intended) are correct, I think it might be time to shelve the Leatherback. Twin was perhaps our last good tier 1 matchup (Burn is fairly 50/50), and with Islands dropping in value, I think the meta is going to become very hostile to us. We simply can't compete if we have to play Affinity, Infect, Storm and Tron all day. I also predict Abzan and Jund numbers dropping drastically, as they inherently suffer against a wide field of degenerate decks. I sincerely hope I'm wrong, but if not - Stompy is still a fantastic and cheap entry-level deck, but the days of winning PTQs and crushing the Online meta are probably over :-(
Gonna take the Leatherback for one last spin next week before OGW becomes legal online - all hail Ulamog!
My meta isnt or should I say wasnt twin heavy (thank god) before the banning's and at most there were about 2 trons deck that showed up fairly often and were always a nightmare too play against, no one in my meta played affinity, expect for the occasional guy, I knew that our match up against the combo decks were a joke since I could never really beat storm or infect, I do thankfully have a storm deck on the backburner i'll just have too update it. Over all this deck is still fun too play and can still get some wins, depending on your meta of course, I did also have the pleasure of playing against the Rise of the Eldrazi deck (Bring on the puns, they're on the rise) and got stomped, wasn't even close, so it is sad too say that this deck will be taking a seat for a little while but yeah with the new direction the format is taking its going too be even harder too try and beat peoples faces :'(

wut. Twin was one of our best match ups... Tron is a winnable match up. You need to sideboard better.
Just a little something against the disappointing pessimism in this thread... I upload some forests for you bros
I think Mono Green Stompy/Aggro/Beatdown has been there forever and will be. Maybe it's just time for some changes? Personally, I decided to speed things up.
My Coco-haste deck has probably more than 100 sequences to kill on turn 3. I was too lazy to write them all down, but here are at least 50.
wowowowowow I'm very impressed by yout list!!!
what resoult did you have?
I don't have the Hierarch but if the list could be competitive I'll buy them!!!
Thank you very much! As it is now, I play the deck since a little more than one week, so I don't have any reliable statistics. It's not tier 1 level, but I feel the pure brutality and fast clock give me potential chances against almost everything. Match-ups I had problems with normal Stompy before, I just race now. For me it's a blast to play, exactly my playstyle. Noble Hierarch is crazy good, so unfortunately there is no replacement, which wouldn't weaken the deck significantly. Birds of Paradise on the other hand could be replaced with Llanowar Elves easily. Sometimes I still think about doing this, but the evasion of the birds is often relevant. Collected Company might seem weaker than in a combo build, Abzan Coco, Elves or so, but in practise, it does exactly what I want it to do: get two hasty beaters on the field to squeeze in the last damage, I'm very happy with it. Sometimes I wish Avatar of the Resolute would be something more aggro, but I didn't find a better two drop or replacement so far. It's good, but not as good as in the normal stompy with all the other counters. By the way, I'm running a "Highlander" sideboard full of 1-ofs at the moment:
Essentially it utilizes white for the best Savannah Lions, Kytheon, which has been bonkers; Path and Voice. Dromoka's Command has been awesome, but it may not be as needed now that Twin is out, same can be said for Spellskite.
I totally agree, its a fine line between being a more versatile Stompy list and a bad Abzan list. That's why I've kept it low to the ground without lieges or Smiters. When I built the deck I just assumed good mana and started upgrading the deck. Kytheon is a better Dryad Militant, and in mid to late game, a much better Young Wolf. I feel a lot better about topdecking a Kytheon, with his indestructible ability, and there isn't much better than going T1 Experiment One, T2 Kytheon and anything else, T3 Strangleroot Geist and flipping to Gideon. I saw Voice as an upgrade to Tuskers, and Path obviously an upgrade to Dismember.
When you move in this direction, you give up the all-in-on-devotion plan, and thus aren't as explosive with your Aspect of Hydras, however once I conceded this, I put in Kitchen Finks and made the list very resilient, and its much easier to play from behind. So ultimately its a compromise on raw power in exchange for utility and resiliency. As far as MUs go, Burn is no longer a frantic race, but instead you become a relentless force with inherently powerful cards such as Dromoka's Command and Finks MD, and you get access to Firewalkers on top of Feed the Clan in the SB, its hard to lose. You still have a fast clock against infect with more ways to interact with their creatures. Grixis generally can't handle all the recursive creatures and Scooze and Thrun out of the board. Tron is something Mono Green Stompy probably holds a better MU against than me, but there is very little in my meta so it doesn't concern me in my case. The affinity MU is still tough, but better with paths and Kataki's (Which will soon be Stony Silence, I didn't buy into them when I should have, unfortunately).
If anyone is interested in going this route, I highly recommend it, as building this deck from Mono G Stompy creates a painless springboard into other decks in modern down the road, such as Abzan Coco or Hatebears
I disagree that he is superior to Dryad Militant. You'd be surprised how big of an impact Dryad's ability can make in games. I saw Stompy beat Abzan last night because of Dryad. A guy used Dromoka's Command to pump and fight with his goyf. Dryad exiled the command causing goyf not to get the boost from an instant in the graveyard and the guy 2 for 0ed himself.
Although this is a minor misplay... Dryad against Tasigur/Storm/Snapcaster/etc. etc. etc. time and time again does amazing things in the maindeck.

I was browsing for a deck that could utilize my playset of Hierarchs and Collected Companys, and when I saw @StompBee's hyper aggressive list, I just had to make it in paper. But I did want to implement a white splash and I wasn't really a fan of Boggart Ram Gang. I do really enjoy the synergy between Eternal Witness and Collected Company, but that would just scream midrange and that's not what Stompy wants to do. I definitely want to continue testing it though and it's given me great results! Here's the list:
I don't know if 3 is the right number of Witness. Maybe 2? She's good with Company, but she's also really good with reusing Groundbreakers, Aspects, Paths, and Qasali's. And 8 mana dorks is quite much, so I tested Gavony in place of the Wildwood, but colored mana was an issue...4 Rancors and 4 Aspects should be enough to utilize the dorks though. The deck can be so consistently aggressive in the first 2-4 turns and it also has enough utility to stay strong in the late game. What do you guys think?
Oh yeah! Kitchen Finks does make a lot sense considering this is a CoCo build. I do also play Naya Burn though, and although Kitchen Finks is a pain, playing around it and other sorcery speed lifegain effects are easy to negate with 4x Atarka's Command and 2-3x Skullcrack postboard. So I'm going for Feed the Clan so I can play around that instead! I already have 2 Finks mainboard and the feed the clans have been enough for me.
I actually forgot about Choke! That was one of my favorite sideboard cards back when I played GW Hatebears. I'll try slotting it in place of Thrun maybe. There's not a lot of Merfolk around here. There was a ton of Twin though, but that's all gone and done with.
I'll continue testing the list. I'm already thinking 3 E. Witnesses is too much. Gotta tweak these numbers some more. Also...Groundbreaker and Aspect is such a house!!
And Kalonian Tusker seems a bit weird: its a nice vanilla creature, but I always prefer to draw an avatar or a geist at the first turns; and at mid to late game is too 'meh' to draw a 3/3 withour any ability. Maybe I should try 2x Dungrove Elder for the midrange and control matchups, and 2x Tuskers for the 2nd turn improving? but that would do -2 treetop +2 forest too. Any ideas for this situation? I dont like the tuskers at all, I would prefer to improve my mid to late game a little, but I do not want to lose a lot of speed. Thanks!

I really do like Dungrove Elder -- I've had people basically just scoop to that card, and it takes over grindy matchups in a way that Leatherback Baloth never could.
Currently I run 2x Dungrove Elder and two non-basic lands (1x Treetop Village and 1x Pendelhaven). Only once has it seemed relevant to me that I didn't get an extra power / toughness from having a non-basic forest in play for Dungrove Elder, and in every other case I don't think it has really mattered. It's a really minor nitpick, and I wouldn't go down to zero copies of Treetop Village just for Dungrove Elder's sake. I've been trying it out, and the value I gain from each of those cards to shine in their "moment" is larger than the relatively minor amount of disharmony that they have with each other.
