yeah, that above deck is awesome. i'm a big fan of it; i hope it gets to see more attention. As I'm putting together my own build of it, I want to find a replacement to Baneslayer Angel; I just feel it's too fragile. I like all the built-in life-gain with the ultimatum and lightning helix playing against a field of aggro and zoo.
What are people's thoughts on the 4 planeswalkers here?
I am also curious to know how that deck measures up against splinter-twin. 3 rune snags, 3 cryptics, 3 paths, and 2 terminates?
Well you have extirpates and krosan grip too, i didn't play against the deck but it did quite bad in the modern part of worlds so i wouldn't worry too much on it. Still we could cut a Teferi from the SB for a thoughtseize that is very relevant against control and twin.
@Slipknot:
That's what those extirpates are for, if they plan on playing for the long game you can extirpate one of their teachings and suddenly your late game becomes quite better.

Well it will take more than one extirpate to do that because you would have to draw it naturally unless they misplay.

Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined and imprisoned; yet we have not advanced one inch towards uniformity.
So looking into playing 5cc am wondering how good the Teferi plan is. As the old 5ccc ran the dragons which may be to slow, but we could run wurmcoils or suntitian with finks, or Meloku the Clouded Mirror.
Just something that impacts the board as well as Meloku would allow us to create chump blockers if needed

essentially any 4-6 cmc creature is too slow for the deck.Honestly I think the best plan is just resolving cruel ultimatums and using snapcasters to seal the deal by attacking for flashing back the ultimatums.
I just wish we had chrome mox that way I could easily jam 2-3 thirst for knowledge in to support the esper charms because they aren't quite enough, and the rest of the discard is garbage.

news:
punishing fire is banned as of December 20th in Modern.
and.......
Zoo will just run tribal flames which is twice as bad for us. Jund does get weaker so I guess its not all bad news.

@slipknot, i say that for the purpose of pointing out that people are still including punishing fire in their 5cc decklists.
Oh I had not seen that lol. It was something that I wouldn't even have considered....

And why not? There really isnt much reason not to run punishing grove in any deck that can..
Anyway are vivid lands really worth running? CIPT lands seem pretty lackluster to me, we could just improvise with fetches and more shocks right?
I would say they are fine as long as you don't run more than around six of them. More than that and you start getting hands with multiple CITP lands, which suck. I get away with 4-6 CITP lands in my Grixis builds.

In 5cc version CIPT lands are necessary. We have a few tricks to minimize them though.

In the past, like, 6 matches we played...I did not see one Delver.I actually thought you cut them...but you only have 2.
I know you are somewhat suicidal, but you need to cut down on your 3 CMC stuff.
I would cut the Dimir Cutpurse. You know I hate that card. He does put the decks that I play in an awkward spot, I admit it. But he is also a 2/2 for 3. Your deck is playing a fast tempo game (which means it may not belong here ). I would try to jam 4 delver and cut the Cutpurses and play Goblin Guide.
Sword of Light and Shadow is awkward. It is bad to flip with Bob and your creatures are easy to kill, making it the antithesis of tempo. Cut em.
Slagstorm is both awkward for your mana and antisynergistic with your creatures. I would cut both. If you need board wipe, Engineered Explosives seems like it will fit your needs better. EE for will kill a flipped Delver, remember that.
Alright, so what finishers do you guys run? In the op
List it seems wurmcoil+baneslayer is the best choice?
Honestly I think creature finishers are a thing of the past. Ultimatum + snapcaster mage is actually good enough now. We do need a plan B against control decks and hate cards.

So basically we run 4 snaps, 2-3 clique and mulldrifters?
I'm thinking 4 snaps, 2 mulldrifters(or some other draw spell in addition to esper charm).
Veny clique is pretty meh against zoo, but good in other matchups so it is a meta call depending on your meta.
I might also run a single batterskull. I want to run enough artifacts for 2 thirst for knowledge but it is difficult.
