Terminate vs Dismember is another interesting decision. I think that Terminate is really really good but the fact that dismember is a lot easier on your mana base (since our base is most intensively in blue, not as much black or red) and can be cast through blood moon(which is fairly relevant) and if your really up against it can be cast for 1( sometimes comes up vs delver decks who lock you out after you both reach 2 mana, with their counters. Or when you have to kill multiple things per turn. or when you want to kill a colonnade and hold up as much countermagic mana up after). I think a 2 terminate 2 dismember split seems pretty reasonable.
hey everyone im struggling to find a really good 4 drop for the deck. Something that would sort of be our version of ajani vengeant a very versatile (both a fairly decent win condition, and something we can use to also stabilize) card that doesn't exceed 5 mana. i feel like it cant tap us out too much ( which is the problem with 5 mana.) I was thinking maybe a 4th cryptic but that alone cant really win a game. Does anyone have any good ideas?

its just so expensive, Like adding a batterskull i suppose is the alternative, but its much stronger when its 4 cmc because it comes down earlier but also you can still hold up disruption like mana leak after playing it in the midgame (like when ur at 6 mana). Like i guess an example is against decks like scapeshift or tron, you really want a clock against those decks but u also want something that doesnt just die to bolt or something similar (clique is fantastic dont get me wrong but it does do a lot of dying.) and a tamiyo at 4 cmc is really attractive there because it taps one of their lands down which is significant disruption (so less fear of them resolving something scary) and it lets your later turns be safer because you dont have to tap out for anything else assuming tamiyo gets there, so you have access to more mana to disrupt their scary spells.
i mean the mana cost is important to me for a lot of reasons, maybe 5 cmc isnt as bad as i think it is, but tamiyo does seem just too expensive in cmc to me atm. Something about it i cant get past.
has anyone done significant testing with tamiyo in modern? i assume its not that great but i guess i could be wrong.
I think I'd rather play Dark Confidant or Young Pyromancer in lieu of expensive planes-walkers. As a control deck you either want to get in quickly for good effect (barring Spell Snare), or else be able to protect them turn 4-8. PWs in Modern are a little bit more resilient than creatures due to the deck lists out there, but there's still a decent amount of PW removal.
I browsed through the card-pool and I found Trade Routes. Has anyone tested this card? We are sometimes flooded, and especially late-game it will turn bad draws (lands) into good draws (spells). Additionally, land destruction becomes less intrusive.
I've noticed that many lists run X/4 creatures now, presumably to avoid being in bolt range. While Lightning Bolt is still awesome, has anyone considered reducing the count?
You stay alive until you untap. Against combo, this means that you make sure that your opponent can not take off (counter magic), or have a stripped hand (hand disruption). Against aggro, it means that you have to have swept everything off the board prior to casting her.
The PW stays alive. Otherwise, you have a very expensive (5 mana) sorcery speed spell with little effect. How much would you pay for "Freeze tgt creature, gain 5 life"? Most of the time, this means playing into a board of no more than one strong creature.
Tamiyo was good for a while in Standard when mid-range was a thing. In those match-ups, she could hold down the fort against their one big creature. Modern is by far not a mid-range format, which explains why she is not good in Modern.

I think that he real problem is that in the Midrange matchups, Keranos is much better.
Charm is better against Living End (because indeed it's a surprise given they don't play hand information spells)
idk, given that living end maindecks 4 fulminator mage and around 2-4 beast within, are you realistically most of the time going to have access to both black and red ? it just seems too easy to deny you at least 1 of these colors.
also in matchups where ur not sure to bring gy hate in, since relic cycles bringing it in wont punish us that bad ever.
maybe i just like it because it has the potential to keep the gy empty for a longer duration.
that assumes you play relic on the first turn, i dont think you have to do that though, they generally cycle the first couple of turns, so after your satisfied that theyve cycled 3-4 creatures, thats when you would want to play relic, also if it gets beast within'd at that point u can nuke their graveyard and draw a card. I dont think we shouldnt play any spell because of the risk of our opponent depriving us, but when we have the option to take less risk, its at least worth considering. also if u only fetch for basics that doesnt play around them beast withining ur basics.
i still think charm is fantastic against living end, i just think theres times when ud want the slot in ur sb to be relic instead of charm, and vice versa. so maybe having access to both is great. Also given that i've had games against living end where they blow up my last black source, and im forced to rakdos charm or have my rakdos charm shields let down until i can draw another black mana. I just feel like id rather not play that game of chicken where they can force my hand because of my lack of black or red mana to fire off my charm, and then respond to my rakdos charm with their violent outburst. I guess id just rather not let them have that angle on me so i think relic is a decent way deny them that angle.
also it should be noted that the nuke ability on relic is still instant speed.

I wish Tamiyo, the moon sage was a 4 drop :/ would be almost perfect.
keranos, god of storms might wanna try this out

Possibly a SB slot against Pod but terrible in a ton of MUs where removal is even moderately used.
Why are you so hung up on the mana cost? It doesn't make a lot of sense.

Very explanatory.
Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.
