It is an esper goryo's vengeance gifts shell. Ghost dad with Jace and the instant interactions, much shenanigans were had. I think the list could still use some minor tweaking and if I had the Goryos I would sleeve this up immediately. One of my favorite sequences:
-draws goryo with a bunch of stuff in the GY, passes minuses goryos on ghost dad and swings in for 7(2 from drain) and then exiles ghost dad to it's eot trigger.
-wins the game

@Acissathar, I think my big problem with my build is that Deadeye does not have an immediate effect like Norn does. There are very few scenarios I can think of where I would want to get Rites for Navigator at the earliest moment, since I would want at least two mana up. On a side note, is there room for Moorland Haunt/Misthollow Griffin in a Norn build?
@pzbw7z, Riptide Laboratory is not Modern legal.
Oops, my mistake. I actually knew that - before I forgot it.
Looks like a solid list to me. Lots of early interaction and good selection of Gifts targets. I am a little uncertain on the Compulsive Research. Don't the Liliana's give you enough discard? With some much of the deck operating at instant speed, it seems there may be a better option for that slot. Only other reservation is the Eternal Witness. Seems like green is a small splash (3 Decay, 1 Pulse) but Witness requires double green. If you have it, another Snapcaster Mage might be a better option.
My only other thought is that your Sideboard will be very important in a larger tournament. I recommend 4 Stony Silence, and if you can get your hands on them, a playset of Geist of Saint Traft will totally own the Tron matchup and others where your opponent is planning to race.

Good luck!
Compulsive Research is also great for drawing cards/selection. I've used in the past and liked it, though sometimes didn't find a good opportunity to cast it. Thirst for Knowledge and Sultai Charm are similar effects if you want instant.
I agree that the Eternal Witness could be tough to cast, I've always liked 2 Snapcasters as well.
In my opinion, you are running too much spot removal! I'm counting 10, plus Damnation and 3 Liliana's. Personally I like to play 6-7 pieces only, as they make for too many dead cards in certain matchups. I'm a fan of Sultai Charm's flexibility, but I would be afraid to run 10 dedicated removal.
[e]Engineered Explosives[/c] is another option that gives a tiny bit more flexibility, as it can sometimes be a semi-sweeper. It's good against Merfolk, and can sometimes catch random 4CMC planeswalkers that Decay could miss.
I've switched over to a more pure Esper deck (UBw...g) and I believe it runs much more smoothly than the 4C version. However I'm really missing Decay as Paths are so awful early. Still tinkering around with it and will try it some more. Vedalken Shackles is a greedy choice but super powerful without Decays running rampant.
Do you guys think the Lantern Control deck is going to be a real threat? I haven't encountered it yet, but people seem to be afraid of it (4 Stony Silence??)
I've been looking for a home for Soulflayer for a while now. I've tried dredgevine, other varieties of dredge, and all sorts of jank. It occurred to me the other day that Soulflayer could be interesting in a gifts ungiven deck. There are a few backbreaking creatures that are almost or just as good putting all their keywords onto soulflayer as they are being cheated into play with Unburial Rites. Thoughts?
Regardless of the viability of soulflayer, my testing this deck out with him has shown me just how fun Gifts Ungiven is to play, so I'll probably keep playing with the deck.
I've been playing the following decklist for about two months now after switching from UW Tron Gifts and I find it just fizzles and loses steam fairly quickly if I don't open or draw a gifts ungiven, I really think a Sphinx's Revelation or other card draw effect is missing in my current list.
I also want to like the Life from the Loam/Ghost Quarter combo but it always seems to slow so I am considering removing it. It's not really good until they don't have basics and at that point I'm wasting my land drop until I can eventually turn them into a wasteland. After two months of playing the deck three nights a week it's only ever been that effective once.
I have really enjoyed Jace, Vryn's Prodigy, he's been amazing as a looter and another means to discard your combo pieces you don't want in your hand. I typically hate it when he flips as his snapcaster mode has never been amazing for me in this list.
Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.
I've moved Loam to the side (I keep Ghost Quarter main because of Knight of the Reliquary) and haven't missed it. You do want it in the 75 because there are a few matchups where you want it, but more often than not I have seen it as a dead card in the main.
Red should be burn, Goblins, Dragons, draw/discard, and Standard-unplayable 5CMC cards with insane, lengthy effects that take 10 minutes to figure out what they do and another 20 to actually make their effects work on the field.

The way it is worded, you may cast the exiled card as part of the resolution of the spell. It's like having a card that says you may gain 10 life. You can't just choose to gain it later.
Oh my goodness, this list is a blast! I've played just a couple of matches with it, and it's fantastically fun. I'm positive that I'm piloting it sub-optimally, but it feels incredible when five mana gets you any answer in your deck.
Hey guys, thinking about jumping on this deck. Love the flexibility, and given my favorite deck recently was kiki-pod and this is pretty similar.
Does anyone know of a good matchup analysis? Most of what I've found is sparse at best, or very dated.
Also, is there any good info on Jace v LotV? They both hit the same turn, but LotV just seems soooo much more flexible/powerful.
ok wow, never thought that i would post on this forum again. thought the deck was dead as door nails. been playing lantern control for the longest, and to be honest i love that deck and it is my go to choice for a modern tournament. that being said, keeping people from playing magic has started wearing on my psyche. after reading lsv's article about bringing the gifts i decided that i would give it a try at my next tournament. guess what, i won lol!! leave it to lsv to resurrect an outdated archetype with a new card. bring to light really shines in this deck. with so many silver bullets, we can literally deal with any deck in the format. that's a pretty big deal in a format as healthy as modern. i have to say after milling and pyrite spellbombing people to death it is pretty satisfying to play a deck like this with utility creatures and plain old fatties. obviously i think "bring the gifts" might be a bit vulnerable to BGx it is still very powerful and capable of stellar topdecks. the only complaint i have is that my opening hands always suck. seriously i mulled almost every game of the tournament sometimes down to 4 (i lost that game btw). any ways probably won't hear from me again as i will still continue playing lanterns do to its consistency, but damn turn 4 iona against merfolk just feels right. keep trucking guys! take care.

Tell us more about the tournament that must have been...?
Lantern should totally include an unburial/fattie package.
