4 removal spells? A lot more than 4 dude. I agree pox is for grinding it out but I would rather remove the creatures rather than delay them with a bridge.
Huh? So you are breaking into the 8Rack core for space? Argument immediately invalidated.
Lightning Bolt, Smallpox, Liliana, K Command, Anger of the gods. It ends up being like 16+ removal spells.
Who cares if you break into the "core" whatever that means. As far as I'm concerned the only "core" is the 8 Racks, Lillies and Thoughtseize/IoK.
THe fact that you don't know what the core is and don't know why its immutable tells me you are a long way from mastering this strat and thus I basically ignore your "advice" and suggest to everyone else to do the same. Its pointless to continue discussion about apples when you want to play with oranges.
It's exactly this kind of close-mindedness and pompous attitude that got you kicked out of your old thread in the first place. Literally no other deck is so xenophobic with notions of "That's not close enough to my definition of ____.deck, GET OUT!"
This was a problem with 8rack discussion in the past and I thought we'd matured since then. I hate to see this regression.
Unfortunately we seem to be still spinning our wheels. Hope we can get out of the burnout box and make our way down the track. (Had to inject some drag racing terminology there, sorry.)

So we have to post a list that matches 52+ cards, or else we can't even talk about it?
Do you realize how much that sounds like "We have to play by my rules, or else I'm taking my ball and going home?"
I had been seriously considering building 8-rack, but I guess now I'm going to look into something else and leave this thread alone.

I dont know what core is too despite holding record for highest modern rating on xmage
Pro tour winner Jeremi Dezani probably doesnt know jund core as he played it to 11th place gp lille without abrupt decay and raging ravine.
The other guy on Infect mulliganed to 4 and 5 on game 2 and 3. I guess you almost never mulligan vs 8rack. Well done to Tom Ross. Waiting for the deck tech!
Spoiler lol, I love watching the matches.
And yes I agree, there shouldn't be such "you're absolutely wrong and I'm absolutely right" attitudes..

I really hope you change your mind. 8Rack is an amazingly fun sleeping deck that flies under the radar. Generally speaking Memory Lapse is a pretty nice guy with a lot of helpful insight into the deck. Sometimes he may be a bit closed minded but that's only because he has put so much time and energy trying out different cards and splashes to figure out what works and what doesn't.
This type of incident isn't a regular occurence in my experience and I hope you stick around. As I mentioned before you can always post in my thread though this thread is usually more helpful.

From what I've heard his main is very close, maybe identical to his previous list (Smallpox, Dismember etc. Sideboard attached.
Imo not enough hate for Dredge, very bad matchup. I dont like Waste Not and Deathmark. Played them, they didnt pull their weight.
His last opponent played bad imo. G1 kept 7 without infect creature, g2 mulled to 4. Only a miracle can help infect win a sideboarded game vs 8Rack with 4 cards. I wouldve kept 5 without lands and creatures.
Also Tom chose to draw vs Infect, I wouldnt
I want to bring up Chandra, Torch of Defiance again. When I see her I see a walker with a power level akin to Jace the Mind Sculptor and Liliana of the Veil. 4 cmc sucks for us and I think it bars her from seeing play alongside Smallpox but otherwise why or why wouldn't we want to play 1 or 2 of her in BR 8Rack? Thoughts?

Dude play whatever makes you happy but I can't pretend to endorse things that have failed time and again for me. Maybe it was a little harsh delivery so for that I apologize, but not the meaning.

I wouldn't have played it like he did. IMO he got lucky the guy mulliganed. He is using a really old list too. Waste Not is not good enough...
tom ross it's one of the most acomplished infect players, and also is known for playing 8rack from time to time with moderate succes
i think its safe to asume that he knows how to aproach that pairing, maybe we can learn something trying to understand his decisions
I don't like this approach where people look at what "pros" are doing and think this is 100% how the game should be played and if that guy did it then it's always the correct thing to do. I think he is the best infect player that I can think of right now, but I can't recall anything other than the one time when he had moderate success with 8Rack. Regardless, just because one person chose to be on the draw, doesn't mean it's correct. I'm sure he had a reason to do it and I'd love to know what it is, but regardless, it has to be measured against casting a turn 1 Thoughtseize/IoK before the opponent has had a chance to play Magic.
Tom Ross is not a god, he is not somebody who never makes mistakes and always has superior decisions. He is just a Magic player, way better than you or me. I agree that something could potentially be learned when we know the reason for his decision to play on the draw but you can't think that it's the correct approach "just because insertnamehere did it and he's a well-known player".
EDIT: Here is the deck tech since nobody has linked it yet and apparantly there isn't some divine plan for the infect matchup that we mortals can't comrpehend. He just plays the deck on the against anything except affinity and tron. I guess that's that.
