I started playing MTG almost exactly a year ago, and the deck that got me hooked on Magic was a friend's MW soldier weenie deck. I want to go back to my roots and create a more advanced version of the mono-white soldiers tribal deck, played in a casual-tier 2 format and with a very affordable budget.
It's not a soldier, but have you considered Student of Warfare? It's a fairly aggressive weenie.
Also, I'm not sure if you're hellbent on doing soldier tribal or just white weenie in general, but I've had a lot of success running Mono-W Knights in modern. Here's a list in case your at all interested; http://mtgdeckbuilder.net/Decks/ViewDeck/758334
If you want to stick to the Soldier theme, I'd suggest layering a Human theme in as well and include Champion of the Parish. If you streamline the build a little, the Champion has a good shot of being a 3/3 on T2. Any creature that can grow past a 2 toughness is good for you since Pyroclasm is going to be the bane of the deck.
Also, WW 'wins or loses' on its opening hand and a few draws. You'll want to trim down a lot of those 3 and 4 mana cards for even more 1 and 2 ones. Consistency of swinging for 3-5 damage a Turn after T2 is going to be your route to victory.
Also, the game should be over far before you get to Emeria's requirement, so I'd cut that for sure.
This has a high human count and all Soldiers. 16 might be too many 1 drops, but you SHOULD see a T1 creature almost every hand now. Most of them have no toughness whatsoever, but that is ok. Just swing.
Legionnaire should always be a 2 drop, just pay the life, and even boosted to a 4/x Firstrike lets it push through a lot of creatures. Cathar provides a tiny bit of card advantage and the flip side is still a Soldier. Arrester is a pure tempo cad, but don't be afraid to use it T2 on Deathrite Shaman or mana creature to slow your opponent down a turn. the Entity is like a final shot at a super Anthem if the game slowed a little. Remember that type pumps, Honors and any +1/+1 counters stack on top of it's P/T setting.
The curve now only reaches to 3 on 5 whole cards, so I lowered the lands way down. Maybe 19 would be better?
If you go just human, you can throw a lot of the good Knights into the deck and if you want probably the best mono-W "weenie" in the format, try building Souls Sisters - http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=517123

This is what I come up with:
4 Dryad Militant
4 Field Marshal
4 Icatian Javelineers
2 Odric, Master Tactician
3 Mentor of the Meek
3 Preeminent Captain
1 Ranger of Eos
4 Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
4 Brave the Elements
16 Plains
2 Eiganjo Castle
1 Emeria, the Sky Ruin
2 Ghost Quarter
2 Tectonic Edge
Deck is pretty simple and straight-forward. Cost of the deck is around $100-150, so it's very affordable.
Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!!
