I've actually had a pretty easy time against storm. Due largely to cards like trinisphere.
Generally we just lose to alot of these linear combo decks g1, but games 2&3 tend to be cakewalks assuming we have the right cards in our Sb's and we mull aggressively to find them.
Chalice of the void makes it impossible to lose to storm, just be sure to put it on 2, not 1. Trinisphere is just as powerful against storm for 1 less mana.
Also, always run 4 relics somewhere in the 75. They're also amazing against storm.
Finally, boil is a game ender against alot of blue decks. Turns out it's hard to win, combo deck or otherwise, after a one-sided Armageddon. Especially with a trinisphere in play.
The deck I'm having alot of trouble finding silver bullets for is ad nauseum and to a lesser extent the through the breach portion of grishoalbrand
what list are you running? still the double dragon take down?
on paper yes, i've been testing the trading post list off and on on cockatrice tho. not exactly pleased with it yet, but ill keep at it.
in any case, my current list that i am pleased with:
so im testing alot of different things atm.
commune is something ive been running for some time now, i initially brought it in to provide more end of turn plays for the twin match. course thats no longer a major concern. i generally find it somewhat lackluster outside of matches vs straight control. so im probably gonna cut 1 of the 2 of em pretty soon here.
i've been testing crumble and havnt exactly been impressed. it's nice to have another couple LD spells in the 75, but the part where it eradicates all other copies isnt very relevant. except against tron. which isnt a real thing atm. so i've been thinking about swapping these out for the newly spoiled structural distortion. it does effectivly the same thing while also helping clock the opponent and providing an answer to things like wurmcoil to boot. we'll see how that goes though.
i've already talked about trinisphere, which is pretty great.
new chandra i find to be OK. she's essentially a mini-ugin that leaves our other pw's alone and doesnt require us to build in a bunch of useless ramp. but at the same time i feel like for 6 mana she should come down with 5 counters. idk. shes ok.
mouth of ronom is amazing, everyone should run them in some number.
been toying with the idea of bringing in a 1-of fotd in the side for non-green eldrazi
as a side note, i think goblin dark-dwellers looks insanely good as a replacement for thundermaw, but i love dragons and hate goblins so thats that.

What makes mouth of ronom so much better than a roast draw? The only thing I can think of is gets around pro red maybe. But Roast also hits Reality smasher and 5 toughness Goyfs.
Just curious, as I can't see it being that amazing.
I agree Crumble to dust has been very lack luster aswell. Molten Rain I absolutely love. But it is so bad on the draw. Have you found 4 of in the MB really abo****ely neccessary instead of maybe 2 that you can board out while on the draw? Magma Jet That is a very interesting one. I would like to know how that is panning out for you. I have a few cards in my 60 that I am not fond of. Personally actually don't like hangarback as a draw usually. Even late game when i can slam it down on 4 insteantly. I would usually rather draw a removal spell or a pia or koth or something. Would appreciate your input.
Besides that obviously our decks are different but I find some of your things very interesting.
first of all, my meta is actually rather eldrazi light, folks round 'ere'd rather not invest in the deck knowing it's on the chopping block. so i'm actually able to just bank on not having to deal with too many smashers. thats the reason for roast not being in here.
mouth isn't so much a roast replacement as it is a snow-covered mountain replacement. and atm its my only colorless removal. but ye, its uncounterable, colorless, instant speed. all at the cost of turning a couple red-sources colorless.
i agree on rain not being as good on the draw. but, i still find it decently useful. if nothing else it can help support a trinisphere, boil, or blood moon. being able to snipe that basic land that slipped under the moon, or getting that cascade bluffs after you untap from the boil is pretty sick, but nothing is quite as nice as killing that third land when you have a trinisphere out. though the latter is certainly more rare, it can still easily, easily keep most decks off 6 lands. and at the very least, it can clock for 2.
jet is early spot removal, good for mana dorks, and fantastic for finding hate/sb cards.
First Round 2:0 vs Collected
1. Kitchen Finks -> Bolt, in Response to Persist, Relic -> GG.
Draw nicely Anger and Relic, he never was able to combo, Exiling made this easy.
2.
Boarded in the Grafdigger's Cage for Instantwins but Blood Moon T2 winning the game.
Second Round 2:1 vs MonoGreenStompy
1.
Simply raped by Leatherback Baloth and 3x Rancor and 2x useless Blood Moon in my Hand.
2.
He was flooded and I raced him pretty fast
3.
He floods the battlefield, I draw the mana I was in need of, Anger of the Gods and Skred dealing with the board - win
Third Round 2:0 vs Fish
1.
He is screwed - just one thing to say, never keep One-Landers guys ^^
2.
Pretty risky hand with 2x Scrying Sheets, 1x Mountain, 1x Molten Rain, 1x Anger of the Gods + X (in need for red Mana)
Playing the Scrying Sheets, playing the mountain, mountain gets Spreading Seas, ... my draws where Blood Moon and Mountain - im now having a bunch of Moutain and his board was 2x Mutavault and 2x Wanderwine Hub - having just mountain.
Then its getting interesting, he plays Aether Vial and Island, coming back to the game while i drew badly... his board is around 10dmg and he is in 12life and im on 7life - but thunderbreak regent and Koth on the field, drawing Banefire.... Koth of the Hammmer -2 then I cast Banefire for 12 :>
I really like the DragonSkred, but your list has virtually nothing in the sideboard to combat the aggressive Eldrazi decks. I'd strongly consider cutting some number of Pyrite Spellbomb from the 75 for Roast. I wouldn't main deck the Roast but there are enough decks out there where we could use another spot removal card to alleviate the pressure on the Skreds to hit 4 and 5 damage.
How do you find the 22 lands works when you're running nine 4 mana drops and four 5 mana drops?
After testing a bit more the deck, Im seeing that the hangarback-nalaar strategy works nice, but 4 Koth are too much (I prefer to have 1 koth and 1 removal/creature/other planeswalker rather than 2 koth), so 3 Koth and 1 Chandra Pyromaster should net more card advantage to the deck. And since Im not casting dragons or wurmcoils, I do not need the 4 Mind Stones anymore, so Im going for more utility on these: 3x Magma Jet (scry helps a lot, at the time we kill something or lowers opponent's life) and 1x Faithless Looting (do not need bloodmoon/another Koth/more lands/relic? just draw 2 and discard'em). Relic is great for this build since its a cantrip that can win games against some decks, block snapcasters, lingering souls, tarmogoyfs, kitchen finks, eternal witness, and a lot more: all of that while drawing a card for a total cost of 2 mana. So I included 4, I dont worry, its cantrip.
And 4 relics maindeck means that I dont have to waste sideboard space for them.

1. Yeah but then I am going to get rekt by Kor Firewalker (Collected/Zoo-heavy Meta, usually no Eldrazis around), the 3guys playing Eldrazis all said they will stop playing it because its way too strong and boring (but yes, atm we need something like Roast).
2. Playing Skred for a half year now, with 22Lands + 3 Simian Spirit Guides it worked the best for me - just 1-2times I was screwed, thats totally fine

Been seeing lots of lists lately running magma jet, and I must say I am very interested. scry 2 would be so godly helpful in this deck. Your choice of batterskull over wurmcoil is pretty interesting, until I thought about a 5/5 thopter getting in for some damage. Sounds appealing. Also to comment on the fact that you have no mindstones. Understandable but i feel like they are sooooo important for turn 3 koths and turn 3 pias. I really miss having mb relics. But having a hard time deciding between magma jets and relics.

Magma Jet workes so much better for me than mind stones: for killing creatures and for reaching the extra burn that I need to close the game, AND for drawing just what I need.
Why Mind stones? If you not run many 5cc/6cc, I prefer to draw a burn spell that can scry 2 rather than a mind stone. Sure, you can play Koth and Pia on turn 3 but... why? you want to launch a sweeper on turn 3, then Koth next turn. If you hurry to cast Koth, he's in danger. As a control deck, you want to play your turn 3 blood moon/sweeper/bolts, etc, to control the board rather than go on a hurry, BUT, if the matchup is combo/burn/whatever that makes you want to go fast, well... still I prefer to launch magma jet to the face and scry 2 to search a threat.
And about Batterskull, its CC is lower and have vigilance, which is good, very good in this build. And, well, our creatures are too weak to PtE, wurmcoil makes it worse.
PD: I did an incredible INCREDIBLE match, that was insane: opponent (WB tokens) at 70+ life, planeswalker sorin on his side, 3 +1/+1 to all his tokens enchants (each token was 4/4, lol), 4 tokens and the lifelink and deathtouch land. I were at 6 life with a 5 counters koth and 1 thopter. I get emblem and kill 2 tokens, block with 1 and Im at 2 life. Next turn I kill the other 2 tokens, next turn he does nothing, I do magma jet and scry a batterskull, then I started to hit each turn 4/4 lifelink and drawing more and more mountains. Win. Epic emblem is epic. That was the 3rd round, won 2-1.

While I haven't played this in Skred I run a full four in my mono red burn. I can't count the number of times scry 2 has won me the game. And being able to pop a little critter, do combat tricks, and just go to the face with it is just an added bonus, even if the damage is sub par in terms of mana efficiency.
The whole reason to run sheats and mindstone is reds lack of traditional card advantage and draw control, so having a reletively cheap burn spell that also let's us clear useless cards of the top seems like a nice boost to help keep on the gas or find land.

"Of course you should fight fire with fire. You should fight everything with fire." —Jaya Ballard, task mage
I am going to have to get my hands on a few and try it out. with 8 spots I am going to have to test and see what i want out of 4x relic 4x mindstone and 4x magma jet. In my local meta relic isn't really needed as a mb card so I presume i will end up putting relics back in the SB for it. scry 2 makes me pretty horny. Thanks guys.
Might give pyromaster another chance aswell. But I don't really wanna take out a koth for her like previously mentioned list did. Also don't really feel like taking out my 1x banefire.
Is the most oppressive version of this deck viable? For some reason I really want to run a deck with main board playsets of Chalice, Ensnaring Bridge and Blood Moon
Is the most oppressive version of this deck viable? For some reason I really want to run a deck with main board playsets of Chalice, Ensnaring Bridge and Blood Moon
Yeah it is, called "All in Red" playing Rituals, Spirit Guides, and you're hiding some planeswalker behind a wall of early BloodMoons/EnsnaringBridges
Seems like it's just worse than Stormbreath in your maindeck. Casting it for 8 seems awful, but if you play it as a morph you're just going to lose it to a bolt or path or something before you get a chance to flip it.
Is the most oppressive version of this deck viable? For some reason I really want to run a deck with main board playsets of Chalice, Ensnaring Bridge and Blood Moon
It's viable, but it's pretty much a different deck. They don't usually run skred because they don't need to go that heavy on creature removal. Ensnaring Bridge mostly takes care of creature strategies on it's own. They usually play Magma Jet instead because it lets you dig deeper to find your answers. Maybe you could run snow lands to have Skred as a sideboard option?
