It's not a great deck, but it's really fun to play. Ideally, champion and/or pridemate get big quickly and beat down. alternatively if the opponent has answers, the goal is to keep gaining life and survive long enough to have purphoros come down and combo with norin. worse case scenario, I have the single burn at the stake (which might seem odd but it's won me several games out of the blue). Mentor of the meek is huge in the deck too, card draw is wildly important as the low mana curve allows for the casting of a lot of cards. Thoughts? Oh, and obviously im missing arid mesas, not going to acquire them for a norin deck though, lol
when i picked this deck i made a few alterations thinking how ever my alterations don't leave me feeling like i've left enough threats in the deck.
I swapped out norin and genesis chamber for 4 bitterblossom and 4 lingering souls, my thinking was the flying tokens will do all of my norin triggers for me while giving me flyers to hit my opponent with.
I'm trying to run 6 blood moon effects in the main deck and maybe this is choking up my threat density?

I'm very excited to try it. It would be killer if the trigger was free instead of costing W, but the rest is all upside. It works great with Norin, and it seemed like whenever I got Genesis Chamber out both sides just had a mass of 1/1 and I couldn't get my Pridemates and Champions through. The flying tokens are going to be great.
That pay W can actually be pretty huge, but I think the one sided aspect of it plus the protection from removal that comes with it make it part of the conversation. Last time I checked Lightning Bolt, Lightning Helix, Terminate, Electrolyze, and Abrupt Decay are still very relevant cards in modern. Spirit Bonds will probably improve the match-ups that play a lot of those cards.
So I replace Mentor of the Meek with Squadron Hawk because I don't think Mentor of the Meek is going to play well with Spirit Bonds. Squadron Hawk on the other hand passes the bolt test and gives us non-token card advantage that can repeatedly trigger Spirit Bonds for 1WW. I also chose not to run 4 Spirit Bonds because I don't think it would be good to draw into multiples because of the tax. I don't know if this build is going to be any better than any of the others, but I am going to try it. Any thoughts or critiques on my list?
i'd rather do a 3/2 split of chamber and spirit bonds. even go as far as 3/3, with the full 4 norin. squadron hawk are really a nice idea, and to be honest i wouldn't use the honor of the pure (this deck just needs to attack once to win, either with a couple of massive and trampling creatures or with 20 creatures more than the opponent. i don't think it needs to be able to race.)

Maybe you are right. One of the things that I've really wanted to do for a while is try a blue splash. I talked about doing it earlier in the thread. I just don't own fetches, which is why I've been sticking to 2 color decks. Military Intelligence, however, just has so much potential as a draw engine in this deck since Norin can attack and flicker himself away. It would be a strict upgrade over Mentor of the Meek who just dies to every single removal spell in the format. Blue also has Moorland Haunt, which wouldn't be half bad in the deck either. And then blue also has Ephara, God of the Polis, which seems like it would be awesome with Norin. If I owned fetches I'd be testing something out like this:
in my (very limited to be honest) experience with the deck, i wouldn't go 3 colors. there is just no card quality to justify the mana screw and the non usability of magus of the moon/blood moon, which is one of the strenghts of playing red in the first place. now, a black splash is a completely different beast, confidant is a powerhouse enough in here.
is there any disadvantage to run lingering souls over squadron hawk? I do realize not everyone runs a splash of black, which might be the primary reason.

I see it as something that might run inplace of genesis chamber being 2 to 4 triggers for purphoros, +4 life gain off either soul sister (maybe this sill trigger pridemate as well). plus its tokens can evade with flying. one of my concerns is norin won't show up to enable so many of the decks triggers, looking at lingering it seems like a back up plan to me.

I like that list. I had been moving away from Ajani's Pridemate and Champion of the Parish because of their nombo with Genesis Chamber, but after playing around a bit with Spirit Bonds they're coming back into the deck.
what the prefered method for protecting pridemate and champion?
is running run 2 boros charm usually enough or should one consider running spellskite or lightning greaves for added protection?

At first glance Return the Ranks looks very solid in this deck, but in reality you are not going to get much use out of the convoke after a board wipe. I'm not sold on Spirit Bonds but playing honor of the pure along side it seems like a great option and the indestructibility is very solid and in the case of a board wipe your 20/20 ajani's is sticking around.

I have some brave the elements in the sideboard, can also be used to push through damage if you need it.

This. If you're going to dedicate cards to protecting the beaters, I think Brave is the best choice, moreso if you don't run Genesis Chamber.

If we eliminate Genesis Chamber and Bitterblossom, then that also means that we can begin exploring Honor of the Pure as an option in this deck.
I'm thinking about trying something like this:
4 Soul's Attendant
4 Soul Warden
4 Ajani's Pridemate
4 Champion of the Parish
4 Squadron Hawk
2 Ranger of Eos
3 Path to Exile
4 Honor of the Pure
3 Spirit Bonds
1 Purphoros, God of the Forge
