I'm going up to a cabin with a friend this weekend, and apparently someone else going also plays Cheeri0s, so I might get to play the mirror for the first time ever. I'll probably proxy up some Sigarda's Aids and Cathar's Shields to test with, and my foil Gaveliers showed up yesterday. My gauntlet, if we actually do any testing, will consist of B/W Tokens, Titan-Breach, Cheeri0s, and possibly Grixis or B/R Storm and Eggs. I don't know what other decks will show up, if any.
I'm the opposite. I got 3 Sigarda's Aid, but don't have any Shields yet. Those should be easy since they are common.
In my testing so far, Aid is huge if you can drop it on turn 1. I've been playing Eldrazi Stompy in legacy, and there has been a big debate going as to whether 3 or 4 is the right number of Eye of Ugin to play, given that it is powerful and game changing, and yet horrible in multiples due to being legendary. Tournament results seem to bear out that playing 4 is the most effective. I'm having the same feeling about Aid, and plan to play 4 as I want to see it in my opening hand every game, and am willing to live with 2 in hand occasionally for the privilege. We'll see how this plays out.
I attended another round of prerelease today and got the playset of Shields together. One of the local shops is talking about doing a Modern with new standard cards allowed Monday night, so if that happens I'll give this a go with the 3 Aids and 4 Shields I have. I don't own the Goblins yet it will have to be Swiftspear for starters.
I tested with 3 Aid this weekend. Didn't get too many games in, but holy crap is B/W Tokens a bad matchup. MVPs were Noxious Revival and the one game I combed (through basically 0 disruption, with 2 Pallies and a Goblin, and a third Pally in hand.) Always want to see Æther Grid in that matchup, but never did at the same time I saw 3 mana.
I did have one game where I got to go turn 1 Goblin, turn 2 Aid, play some stuff, attack for a lot, don't care about not having a Paladin, which was nice. Also, I got to play the mirror for the first time. It was basically the same as any other super non-interactive match, where we mostly just see who can win first and ignore what the opponent is doing.
Are you running 4 retract while playing swiftfoot boots? Can't help but feel that they may not work too well with each other.... Anyone thought about putting in a single cranial plating?
I'm hoping my sigarda's aid's will arrive tomorrow so can start testing as got hold of the shields.

I had two Grid in the board. I think that's the right number.
I am currently playing 4 Retract and 1 Boots, but I think I'm gonna be cutting the boots for a 4th Aid. I have considered Cranial Plating, but I've never actually tried it. It might be worth testing.
Just had a thought, with the introduction of Sigarda's, does it make glaze fiend a viable card choice? Dump all your artefacts to boost the fiend and attach to Gaveleer...

Personally, I prefer my decks to be named after breakfast foods, so I'll continue to go with Cheeri0s (or Cheerios, if you prefer). Now to start brewing a Cheeri0s/Eggs hybrid list so I can play a deck called Modern Breakfast Combo...
I don't like "american armory" because it doesn't tell us what the deck does- i.e. it doesn't distinguish us from a jeskai equipment non-combo deck. Cheeri0s puts the emphasis on 0-cost equipment (as opposed to a standard equipment deck).
I don't have other better suggestions - 'unlimited blade works' fits off the top of my head, but I don't even like the Fate series...
Edit: Would anyone run this deck under the name of "American Armory"? I'm not american myself but I find it quite fitting. Also it makes it more distinguishable from the legacy Cheeri0s. Opinions?
I personally think that the name is obnoxiously centered towards the american (as in USA) community. Cheeri0s is a fun name.
Can you guys explain to me why Muddle the mixture was ditched? Seemed like a decent tutor. Also is there any math in the 20 cheeri0s that are being proposed?
Thing is that I am already deep in testing and I have realized that having more than 15 lands might be detrimental to any combo. But as for my experience I think that 16 equipments might be too low. I was aiming towards 18.
I tested Tuesday night with Swiftspear and lost 5 straight against Delver midrange. I had to "show" him how the combo worked. I was like, this deck is so much worse now!!!
So I went back and re-read a bunch of the middle of this thread and came up with the following, which seems much more competitive:
The Muddle the Mixture can go get a Palladin or a Recall. Many of you will object to the lack of Repeal, but IMHO 18 Cheeri0s are needed to insure we can go off and if I went down to 17 I would probably add another Noxious over a Repeal now that we have Sigarda's Aid and more Shields for protection. I may change my mind with more testing.
I some playtesting last night against Jund(2-0, 2-1) and Scapeshift(2-1, 2-1). I felt completely dominant in both matchups without even sideboarding, except for when I mulliganed into oblivion. The Scapeshift matchup actually seems much easier, even though the match scores look closer. I just had a couple of bad 5 card starters that didn't go anywhere. Establishing a clock and killing them in 4-5 turns usually isn't that tough.
The one-of's Muddle the Mixture and Noxious Revival both did a lot of work, with Hurkyl's Recall being the target for Muddle if I didn't need a Paladin. It's just incredible how powerful the Goblin Gaveleer becomes when loaded up with Shields. I was expecting the big trample damage, but I didn't predict it would be able to live through being double chump blocked by Goyfs! The card is just amazing. I got to play T1 Sigarda's Aid several times, which is right where we want to be. It's so good I'm considering putting a fourth into the deck.
I'm looking forward to testing the more counter based control matchups. There's a Modern PPTQ this weekend and I will be playing Jeskai Nahiri, but Cheeri0s is showing some promise!
Oh my gosh did I get dominated by Blue Tron tonight, just game after game of Chalice on zero and Repeal my creatures. What an object lesson. I now understand the virtues of Repeal. We need playset in the 75 no matter what!
I still maintain that Repeal is the best card in the deck. It just does everything we'd ever want, dealing with hate, threats, or just cycling for free with Opal or drawing 2 for U with a Paladin. I don't think I could ever play less than 4 in the main.
Not to be argumentative, but Repeal doesn't dig into our graveyard or tutor up an answer, so it falls a bit short of doing everything we'd ever want. To your point I'm a now a firm believer in a full playset in the 75, for sure, but 4 in the main involves some tradeoffs.
I tested this afternoon against Infect and Delver aggro, losing close matches against both. I sided in a playset of Silence against Delver and was able to shut him down by casting it on his upkeep three turns in a row, allowing me to resolve a Mentor and kill with tokens.

Haven't got a problem with Anerican Armoury but there must be a better name!?
