No way. Counterspell will never see the light of standard.

Let's see.. Common/Uncommon that everyoone wants reprinted, yet no one is expecting....hmmm....
In all seriousness, it's most likely some fringe playable card. I mean thematically I can see an Expedition Map reprint happening. Maybe we'll get lucky and get Path to Exile? :\

Expedition map is very on point but there is already a map card and they already have settle the wreckage. Most likely opt? With the average cmc of this set so far being really high we won't be seeing counterspell. Nothing feels worse then casting your 6 mana dinosaur into a counterspell and since wotc is about midrangey green matchups, i'd assume something green or black because that color has been PUSHed as well lately *insert rimshot here*.
When WOTC says "exciting reprints" you have to realize most WOTC employees don't really care about strong cards. They can't participate in most tournaments, so prerelease, cube and commander are sort of the preferred formats. When I read "we have exciting reprints coming" I lean more towards fun, silly thematic cards than expensive, strong and or tough to find ones.
Agreed, that's why I said Expedition Map was a possibility. Literally looking through Gatherer for Pirate related things the only other card I could come up with was Reef Pirates. Everything else has a proper name that makes it so it won't be reprinted, or it has a mechanic Wizards won't want to put on modern cards.

The amount of attention they're giving Vintage lately is rather odd. The Vintage players don't seem to mind (most of the reaction seems positive, though it does seem a decent number disagree with the restriction of Gush and think Mental Misstep should've gone instead), but it's odd to see this (and the somewhat surprising unrestriction of Yawgmoth's Bargain) and then Modern not having gotten any unbans in nearly one and a half years despite there being several quite safe cards on the banned list. While I can at least see some level of concern for Jace, Stoneforge, or Splinter Twin, there really doesn't seem to be any real argument for not unbanning Bloodbraid Elf.
Most likely they're just waiting until the Pro Tour to shake things up with an unban, as people like those a lot more than a ban...
But I thought they said they weren't going to shake up the pro tour anymore!

One guy said as much over twitter, may have been Forsythe I don't remember. The problem is WOTC can still push through a ban or unban and say in the announcement "oh we know it looks like a shakeup, but trust us when we say the data proved it was a problem."

"When you control no Islands, sacrifice Pirate Ship"
As I said, Reef Pirates is the only card I could find that didn't have a proper name or didn't include a mechanic Wizards would not print on Modern magic cards. Also I doubt that'll get reprinted since the ships are being printed as vehicles.

You will not crush my Merchant Ship dreams!
Also, Pirate ships is already modern legal so I'm pretty sure they'd print it on a Modern magic card. (Dandan too!)

They are Modern legal because they were printed as Timeshifted cards. They include mechanics which break modern design philosophies, so no they won't see actual print again outside of rare circumstances like another Timeshifted set.

Possible "surprising" reprint at uncommon:
Maybe a rarity downshift to match Lightning Helix and Countersquall for absorb and undermine. They won't give us 2cmc counters like miscalculation, but maybe these would be reasonable?

Didn't they say they wouldn't use bans to shake it up? Nothing about unbans.

Yep. This is what he said "I hear you loud and clear re: "shake-up bannings" in advance of the Modern PT. No plans for that. We plan to manage the format as we do now." https://twitter.com/mtgaaron/status/887862643645480960
If anything, this is terrifying since their "management" style is fairly lazy, often misguided, and prioritizes a ban-first-figure-it-out-later policy. The only hope is if the Play Design team gets to chime in and help guide the process with some people who actually understand the formats Wizards "manages."
I just want to cast bloodbraid elf, cascade into stoneforge mystic then lose to half the tier 1 decks in the format. With no unbans and the lack of communication about them not unbanning certain cards makes it hard to get excited over modern
