Junk 28.3% of the meta? fair enough.
Thanks god the pros have what they want now! I'm sooo relieved that nobody needs to test modern anymore, my million dollar goyfs are safe now

If you look up on this very page you posted on, you'll see that """Abzan""" includes Podless Pod and Hatebears.
Hatebear isn't actually hatebear as listed? and i wonder how many players really believe in a podless pod... Even if almost half of the decks aren't midrange junk the numbers are still of a clear dominance (15%).
But i would give the benefit of the doubt and wait seeing how many "real" Junk decks there are in day 2.

my main gripe is with just how BAD the commentary is.
It's such a shame because Cedric Phillips and Patrick Sullivan at SCG have become some of the best commentators that I know... in Magic, sports or otherwise. They're knowledgeable, professional, funny, and have voices that don't annoy the tits off of me. They're not working this weekend. Bring them over!

I'm not a fan of Phillips/Sullivan. They've always come off as a little airy and pretentious to me, and a lot of times try to drum up false tension by talking too much.
The official coverage definitely could potentially be better, but Ian Duke's coverage has been spot-on for the most part.
Well I called siege rhino ever since its spoiler day. Didn't call it format staple but definitely said something like "very good", and was for sure the one to praise it the most in here :).
Heh same thing with me and Tasigur, the Golden Fang. I said right from the beginning that he was the card I was the most excited about but almost nobody else was talking about him.
Instead there were giant threads talking about Monastery Mentor and Soulfire Grand Master.
Look who has the last laugh now
Hindsight 20/20. By then the meta was filled with TC and Vapor Snag, which is changed now by means of the ban list... A remanded/Vapor-Snagged Tasigur is less good than the current Tasigur.
Well despite what other people said it was pretty obvious that TC would be banned so there is that
Wow, i missed Helen Bergeot's announcement. Could anyone summarize in 2 words what she said?
Modern WMCQs
Thx much. Sounds exciting
Sounds interesting. Though if they were going to add Modern to something, I'd rather they do it for the regional PTQs, because the current one is Standard, the next one is Standard, and the one after that is Sealed. Maybe they'll go for Modern for the one after that, but it would be nice to see at least one season where the regional PTQs are actually Modern. Would encourage more stores to make their Pre-PTQs be Modern.
Does anyone know what is so special about the King of the Hill table?
I believe the way it works is that the person who won the previous "King of the Hill" match stays King of the Hill for the next round, then plays against someone new in said new round. Then whoever wins that is the "King of the Hill" and it repeats. Basically, you keep the "King of the Hill" title as long as you don't lose while King of the Hill.
junk wouldn't have this high a % at a gp. pros play it safe alot. no ban can fix this either since black and green are just the best colors latrly. they need to print some good rw or rb cards
Yuuki Ichikawa is apparently playing Jund right now (won't make top 8 against Living End though).
Why were the commentators saying Ichikawa would be dead next turn if he doesn't win? Although the Living End player had a bunch of creatures on board from a Living End, he already has a second Living End suspended with 1 counter. Therefore, at the beginning of the next upkeep, the Living End would resolve and send every creature on the field to the graveyard, so he wouldn't be able to win and thus the game would've gone on.

Agreed, I had groaned when I heard Abzan deck tech, put it was a pleasant surprise, and quite different from the standard abzan lists.
I've seen Kibler playing with that deck ages ago. It indeed really sweet.
