I don't understand the DTT ban. This quote from Wizards is flat out untrue: "In Modern, these cards are easy replacements for one another—while a Delver deck might use Treasure Cruise over Dig Through Time, banning one but not the other would do little to change the deck. Dig Through Time and Treasure Cruise are banned."
Well I am no longer playing modern... I don't have a deck any more.
Do I quit?... I mean I spent several years trying to collect a birthing pod deck.. and it was all for naught I mean I couldn't even get it to an acceptable compedative level before it got banned.
Pretty much wasted a lot of time and money since MM1, I am stunned. I just don't know what to do now. What do I do with the wreakage of the deck?
Bans: TC, Pod, maybe DTT.
Unbans: maybe: AV, GGT, sword. These maybe unbans depend heavily on the bans. The more bans, the less unbans. I don't see AV and DTT being legal at the same time with pod and tc banned.
Yeah, and it's just the millionth time I'm right about bans and unbans. I think I only guessed wrong once hehe.
I'm very very sad as I spent God knows how much on my foil Pod deck recently and now it is worthless.
I don't think it needed a ban, but cards should not be left unbanned simply because they cost money. If it is breaking the format it is breaking the format.
What the what?! Can someone explain to a modern newb like me why Birthing Pod gets the banhammer? It's not that broken is it? Also, why did Dig get banned? It's a totally different card than Cruise.
Pod had a large meta percentage and kept winning tournaments. Dig Through Time's ban puzzles me.
Was not saying because it costs money it shouldn't be banned, just that I'm sad I made the choice to buy it all and the gamble did not pay off.
Well, that happened. I guess this just sets the precedent for 15% meta share being ban worthy. That seems... wow. We basically nailed the pod announcement though. All of the reasons we all brought up for a potential pod ban, were in fact wizards reasons for banning pod. I don't think the guy who wrote than ban announcement actually agrees with the bans.

Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.

I guess the reason they didn't unban BBE is that after banning TC, Dig and Pod (i.e. basically all the top decks), they didn't want to risk that hole being filled by Jund.
I admit, this doesn't explain why Rhino is allowed but BBE isn't though.
Jeskai Ascendancy is bad without TC and Dig (no TC = 4C sucks, no Dig = UWR sucks), so there's no need to ban it. Maybe you can play Ideas Unbound in its place, in the 4C version. 1 mana vs 2 mana is a pretty significant difference though.
Can we start talking about a new format? driven by internet without WIZARDS INTERFERENCE PLEASE??
FREE MODERN !!!!
I am going out on a limb and going to say the reaction is probably about split on this in the player base. Wotc has shown the direction they want the format to take.
Anybody want to buy some Dig Through Times and Pods?
I'm not surprised by the bans. I figured if TC was going to go, Pod had to go. And honestly, Dig is not that much different than TC, and can even be better. I was hoping to get a little more time with Dig since I never even played with it in a tournament, but that's life.
Grave-Troll is overdue. It will shake up the format, which will be interesting to see. Just bought 4 Vengevines. Hopefully that pays off.
To all Pod players out there, I'm truly sorry. My best friend plays Pod, and when I gave him the news, he just sighed and said "...guess I need to buy some Goyfs now..."
It made no sense whatsoever what most Pod players where stating here, ban TC/DTT but leave POD untouched. If you act on the one, the other gets the hammer too.
Those clamoring that Junk will take over, need I remind you, the deck is dirt vs Burn?
Yes, because that stopped Jund so well before.
I would have liked some more unbans, but well, overall I am happy.
Understand, Dredge is not really a Magic: The Gathering deck. When a card is playable in it, it doesn't mean it's a tournament playable card. It means it's playable in whatever crazy fantasy world that Dredge operates in.
I don't know how I feel about the bans. On one hand, I feel like Pod was both a fun deck and a pillar of the modern format. On the other hand it was an omni-present, fluid, and resilient monster that oppresses many strategies because it is so flexible from the mainboard.
Maybe more decks that couldn't deal with Pod will surface.
These are good bans. cruise had to go it made delver oppressive. without pod more creature strategies will be viable it needed to go aswell, especially after the printing of siege rhino. as for dig through time well thats just screaming make combo decks OP like twin scapeshift and ascendancy it was a good ban aswell. unbanning blood braid with these bans is a bad idea bg/x is already 1 of the best decks in modern with rhino after these bans lets see how it plays out. Looks like lsv's predictions were accurate asides from pod(which was going to happen eventually) unfortunately I now own alot of dead cards in modern lol
Well, actually, come to think of it, since TC is gone the whole "why bother Thoughtseizing them when they'll just gain CA off TC?" thing falls apart and I can unironically play a hand disruption and counterspells deck if I wanted to.
Yeah, good to see Wizard are going to keep modern healthy!
Because WotC sure kept it healthy by printing two cards only an absolute idiot couldn't see would warp the format tremendously and absolutely to the point they were banned immediately. This isn't even "yeah we didn't see some of these interactions" like SFM or "we were pushing the limits of planeswalkers" with JtMS. This was straight up "we want some cash, you'll give it to us". The only saving grace was that TC was a Common.
They put no distinction that delver would just replace the 4 cruise with 4 DDT. Since delver was willing to pay U2-U4 for 3 cards, their playstyle would remain consistent with just paying UU1 UU2 or just UU for DDT and the end result would still be the same.
TC and Pod ban make sense.
Lack of meaningful unbans is ridiculous.
TC and Pod might disappoint me but I can understand it. Dig and lack of any real unbanning makes no sence what so ever. This just goes to show that wizards wants zero decent card draw/ advantage in the format at all.

SonofaBith - Wizards was so excited about making the packaging for Modern Masters 2 recyclable, they decided to make most of the rares and all but 1 of the UC's recycle-bin ready too. Convenient!

I already have. Why did they have to ban Dig? Even a Cruise and Pod ban I would understand, but Dig?
Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.
