It restricts design on all ETB creatures. Rhino is such a great value creature and restro rhino is filthy. I'm glad to see this happen even though my deck was heavily favourite against pod.
I am beginning to belive that modern simply will not be allowed to be a broad format. Good draw and good tutors have been the basis for the most beloved decks and archetypes in magic's history, and I think that WOTC are simply unwilling to allow these decks. Sadly, for me this means that the format that I thought would be perfect for a player like myself, who has been an active player since 8th/mirrodin, is just too homogenous.
I wouldn't be surprised if MM2 contaied goyf confidant and liliana.
At the very least, if it doesn't contain goyf this would mean it's getting reprinted elsewhere.
edit: if no liliana then maybe she'll get her needed duel deck appearance...? Just dreaming?
Liliana cannot get a reprint in MM2, since reprint only go up to Scars block.
Wow, 3 cards banned at once. Can't say I'm a fan of hitting 3 at once, but I can't fault them for banning Treasure Cruise. As for Pod, well, it's such a powerful card and was only going to get stronger, a banning was inevitable, and whatever happens to the meta in the short term, in the long term it will be for the best. Naturally, I just bought 4 pods a month ago. Kinda surprised to see DTT go, I would have at least waited for the air to clear before banning it. It's about time GGT came off, it wouldn't do anything, of course.

Things WotC cares about:
-making certain Standard cards can be played in Modern, therefore increasing their value and increasing WotC's profit margin
Things WotC does not care about:
-keeping the ban list as short as possible
-taking chances with an entire format for the benefit of a single card
-catering to play styles that newer players generally don't like and will lose them more players than it will gain
-keeping the meta balanced between archetypes/colors/whatever
-keeping cards on the secondary market cheap (available yes, but not cheap)
-keeping the meta diverse (as long as a single deck doesn't threaten the popularity of the format)

You think that is bad, I told a guy yesterday in store during pre-release, "Wait a day for the banlist, I don't think it will happen, but there is a chance that Pod gets banned'...Dude went and got the Pods anyway!
What is a better tutor in modern, and can it be used turn after turn after turn?
Why are you asking me for a better tutor in Modern? You said Birthing Pod was the best tutor in the game. You're moving the goalposts now.
Unfortunately predictable response. I'll take your misdirection and argument of semantics as an affirmative for me. That birthing pod is indeed the best tutor in modern. Thanks. You let yourself get riled up over nothing.

You know that deck that plays turn one disruption? yeah, the deck that plays liliana too... The same deck that has the best clock of the format.. The deck with tons of flying chumpblocker... The one deck that has access to the best SB colors..
The name was something like trash, garbage... Really don't remember sorry.

What misdirection? You made the claim that it was the best tutor in the game, an utterly absurd claim when cards like Survival of the Fittest or Demonic Consultation exist. Do you not understand there's a massive difference between "in the game" and "in Modern"?

It probably is the best tutor in Modern (though of course being the "best" at anything doesn't necessarily mean it's overpowered).

I knew there was a reason to keep those Forked Bolts sleeved!
Pod didn't have to become so stupidly good, though; Pod is reliant (Very heavily so) on ETB effects. All it would have taken is two or three more Torpor Orb/Torpor Bird in order to keep it in check...
Banning it is lazy game design.

Oath of the Gatewatch; the set that caused the competitive community to freak out over Basic Lands.
I guess that if they left DTT unbanned, Scapeshift and Twin would wreck everything after a pod and delver ban
No, they would clash with Junk and Amulet Bloom and Zoo and Breachshift and all of the other decks that have been doing well that contained neither Cruise nor Dig.

At least it isn't Bogles right?
Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.
Well that won't be a problem anymore at least... No bogles... I think i love this B&R!

Unban AV and BBE will help Jund and Control to compete with Scapeshift/Twin + DTT.
Unfortunately, WOTC prefer banning cards more than unbanning cards.
