On the one hand, I did think Collective Brutality was good. On the other hand, I'm not thrilled it's improving Dredge. Brutality singlehandedly takes it vs. Burn in Game 3.
Next up: Jund vs. UW Control at 1-1. Ryan has to make a comment about "very exciting gameplay" though, despite it being a very interactive matchup. Wish that line of commentary would stop.
Breaking news: Collective Brutality clowns Burn.
Details at 11.
But seriously, good card is good.
And not just because Dredge can abuse the extra discard opportunities.
I knew I wanted some copies for Grishoalbrand, but figured I could always get it for around $1-1.50, so I waited. When he cast that Brutality on Burn, I instantly went to Ebay and bought 4.
I knew the card was good, but being a rare with so many other money rares and mythics, I figured it would not go up any time soon. I just now realized why take a chance at only $6 a play set?

I'm happy to see the RG Breach deck in there, although this player must be soooo much better than myself. I tried it at a SiB 5K and finished horribly at 5-4. This guy took it to the top of an SCG Open. It looks like a really tough top 8 for him though - Jund is probably literally the best matchup out of those other decks.
P.S. - Ayiluss, I know you voted for Jund vs. Jund.

Dredge vs Infect looks like a fun game although I don't like Dredge. Btw who has advantage in this matchup?
I THINK dredge as long as it can hit it's narcomoebas and conflagrates. Probably depends pretty heavily on the dice roll as well. Infect could just steal games though with become immense and protection/unblockable

Big thanks to DarkNightCavalier from heroes of the planes studios for the sig!
Infect is too fast, although the Glistener Elf draw doesn't seem quite the best. The Dredge deck has super quick draws, but more often than not, you just sort of grind until you hit a big Dredge, then you can end it. Of course, you do have those 13 power on turn 2 draws as well, which interestingly enough, Infect could race if they have evasion.
I think the more interesting part is that Tom Ross, aka Mr. Infect, has to play Dredge vs. Infect - a fairly tough matchup for Dredge...well, less than 50% anyway. Obviously in Modern, it is another Die Roll dependent matchup - I'd say that Dredge on the play has a 50/50 shot, while on the draw, it falls to around 30/70. We'll see what comes out of the board, but Infect has little or no graveyard hate because it's quicker than graveyard decks and Dredge has only artifact removal for Inkmoth Nexi and potential Spellskites.

I think tom has a huge edge here though in the fact that he is very familiar with how infect works, while his opponent might not be nearly as familiar with how tom's deck works.

That is indeed an edge, but I don't think it's enough. Infect's great hands and good hands beat nearly anything Dredge has to offer. It's the average hands and terrible hands that can possibly fail to Dredge.

Jund and Dredge are the two decks i have been playing the most. I also added 3 Collective Brutality to my list a few days ago, thought it was real strong and im glad its kicking butt. Although, this worries me, i hope Jund stops top 8'ing everything so i dont have to worry about another ban.

I love it when people say Jund is bad and it then T8s an event.
Who said it was bad?
People love to talk about how Jund is a bad choice because it is too reactive and doesn't have enough answers to Modern's proactive decks. Not everyone argues that, but I do hear it.

That's odd. I really don't understand that, since Jund is actually a great choice in a metagame like that. Plenty of kill for fast creature decks and plenty of disruption for fast non-creature decks along with efficient beats and tons of cards with overlapping utility. The meta where Jund is bad is one where Tron, Scapeshift, other ramp decks and larger Midrange/Control decks are shining.

I don't care if people are saying it with their actual mouths, that's *****posting even in meatspace.

I meant reactive in the sense of selecting answers and cards, not gameplay. As the saying goes, if you pack the wrong Jund 75, you're going home even if a different Jund 75 was the winning formula.

Is that really something people say? Doesn't sound witty enough to be a saying.
All I got to say as someone who played dredgevine is "GO DREDGE GO!" It seems like dredge is favorable against infect since it can just chump block for days against infect creatures.
