What eggs hate is actually effective? I guess Extirpate is if you're in the right colors; otherwise, eggs plays around hate almost embarrassingly easily.
Surgical Extraction can be played by any deck and can hit them hard. Taking out a Faith's Reward or Second Sunrise cuts their effectiveness in half; taking out a Conjurer's Bauble stops them from going infinite, potentially making it impossible for them to win, depending on what win condition they have in their deck at that point. There's also Relic of Progenitus, Tormod's Crypt, and Thorn of Amethyst. (fun note: their Second Sunrise brings back your Tormod's Crypt)
In the more color-limited front, there's Rest In Peace/Leyline of the Void, Slaughter Games, and Stony Silence.
Sorry, but i don't agree. You can't qualify "works well with Thirst for Knowledge" a reason for keeping them banned.
.
What do you mean by qualify? The artifact lands might be safe to unban, but they have been big problems historically. There is no reason to unban them now and risk the creation of some sort of degenerate deck(s). I don't think that I need to say anything else to justify keeping them banned. Keeping someone on the ban list is very different from adding something to the list, I don't think it requires the same amount of justification.
I knew someone would give me that example
Still, many decks use the graveyard in Legacy, much more than in Modern (or the level of use / abuse is higher). I wouldn't find surprising to see enough SB hate for Dredge as a result of Splash Damage.
But there really isn't. the other deck that is serious about the graveyard is reanimator, and using more versatile answers in creature hate and counter magic is more productive. Graveyard hate is essentially just for dredge, you bring it with you to deal with dredge, not the splash.

What's the big deal? You could have played multiple Righteous Avengers for years now.

I don't believe any of this has been true since the resurgence of BUG decks in Legacy which have shut down Dredge from existing entirely.

But the issue with Surgical is that they just respond with Second Sunrise and Bauble away the card that you targeted (if it didn't come back already). Same with most other GY hate, or they just hit it with Echoing Truth.

It's still an uphill battle. You need a lot of mana in one turn to double Sunrise.
It's a bit like saying "Affinity beats board wipes easily because they have Nexuses". No, it doesn't. It has a chance of climbing out of the hole, but that chance is small.

I wish people would stop coming in here and making claims or hypothesis's without any actual source's to back them up, especially when Legacy is concerned. This is directed towards at least three of you.
Okay, guys. Half an hour to go. Anyone want to start making silly wagers?

Mhjames: mtgsalvation: I DON'T SEE HOW THIS CARD IS GOOD. I KNOW PATRICK CHAPIN USED IT AND WENT 8-0, BUT THAT WAS A SMALL TOURNAMENT. THE CARD IS TOO SLOW. YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE THE OPPONENT HAS A SPELL IN THE GRAVEYARD

You should clap harder, dredge got 9th at SCG invite Atlanta, and 11th at the SCG Atlanta open.

I haven't seen top 8's, I should have been more clear, but I'm glad the deck does somehow exist in a hostile environment to graveyards in general.
