Ok so after playing an modern event down at the local store I have been interested in playing modern. During the first event i was in i didn't have the list to play U/R Storm thus I went with a variant of Pyromancer. I would like some help on improving the deck and making more consistent.
Here is the list i'm planning on using next time any ideas?
I'm personally a fan of cheaper cantrips in a Pyromancer Ascension deck like Serum Visions and Sleight of Hand. Those nab Ascension fast if you don't have it and charge it up fast if you do. That being said, Faithless Looting is a good start.
I'll keep all the burn maindeck--it'll tend to be the main way you win. But unless you get cards like Manamorphose and rituals (e.g. Desperate Ritual) maindeck, I don't think you'll ever kill anyone with Banefire.
Speaking of Manamorphose, it and Gitaxian Probe draw cards for free and are pretty good card advantage with an active Ascension out.
Without any rituals or Manamorphose maindeck, I'm also not a fan of Past in Flames, as you'll never hit 5+ mana to make PiF worthwhile.
You could try the infinite turns variety that is really a blue/red control deck. You don't have preordain/ponder, but sleight of hand and serum visions would make a pretty decent variant. You would also need time warp
Remand is probably good enough as a counterspell for this deck. You don't really want much more than that.
I second manamorphose. With an ascension active, you can draw through your deck in a hurry with mana up to cast more stuff.
If you're doing a time warp build, you might want one or two call to mind, and these allow you to go infinite with an active ascension.
Personally, I think your burn suite should include 4 incinerate and 4 lightning bolt. That should be good enough to survive and to win with.
tezzeret's gambit seems sort of weak, as does banefire and past in flames. Those would be the places to start to consider the other one drop cantrips, etc. good call on faithless looting, though.
