Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
I'm gonna agree with this. I really feel they went for the ban hammer way to quickly after just a single tournament. The fact that they banned more cards without giving anything back is also depressing.
I agree. When cantrips are being banned the format will suffer. If you look at the banned list you'll notice that it can be translated to: strictly prohibited to have fun. There's literally no deck that hasn't suffered in some way. Even the control decks that will come to live with the banning of Cloudpost will never get the chance to play Preordain, which is a great card for them. Sleight of Hand forces you to keep a card (or forces you to get rid of one), even if you don't want to, which makes it a lot worse than Preordain.

The scathing ridicule of R&D's reaction that you thought I'd implied was not. I really don't like Island or Mountain.
But, for the sake of being on-topic, I feel Past in Flames may end up banned sooner than later. I can't help but feel it will only lead to more degeneracy.

Control still has higher CMC draw spells like See Beyond that are good but useless for Combo.
With the banning of GSZ Counter-Cat is dead, but classic Naya hasn´t lost anything.

Uhhhh.. counter-cat aka charming zoo isn't dead as it was a deck in the old extended season without GSZ before it got that stupid name. Also see beyond is useless for control...think about it.
Lets ban everything until jace the mind sculptor is good. Then ban... (ooh, they already banned jace).
Fine, lets ban everything until bloodbraid elf is good.
Actually BBE is going to make a comeback since Jund will be pretty good.

They need to ban more cards. One time, at my LGS, there was a guy, and he was playing magic, and the magic was modern, and in the game of modern, he played this card, and this card was like a black lotus, and when the 3 turns that it was RFGed were up, he got to play a black lotus, and then he used the black lotus to make lots of mana, and then he used the lots of mana to play dragonstorm, and then he got lots of boggarden hellkites with his dragon storm, and my friend who was playing against him with a mono green basalisk deck died, so they should probably ban lotus bloom and dragonstorm.

lol. I agree to some extent however certain things need to be banned. 12post was obviously broken, and making storm decks unable to win on turn 1 was also a good idea.
Honestly all I want for Christmas is chrome mox unbanned that way my decks aren't filled with crappy artifacts just to make thirst for knowledge work.

See Beyond might appear to be a draw spell but it gives no actual card-advantage meaning it's actually just a hand fixing cantrip which isn't what control decks want.
If you want an idea of how See Beyond is used, I ran it in Pyromancer Ascension and U/G Mass Polymorph decks in standard which are definitely not control decks. If anyone is using See Beyond in this format it would be combo decks.
C'mon slip, we all know you have lots of nice artifacts...lol. You have Tumble Magnet and Chalice of the Void (though w/out Rite, Preordain, and Ponder, it's not that great), uh...you are probably right..lol
I think the ban list is where it needs to be for now. I think once the meta settles with this new list, after a few major events, and literally hundreds online, we can start seeing cards come off the ban list in December. I'm excited for the new format. Now I don't have to worry about UR Storm going off T2 or 12post in a losing position and cuz of Titan, ramp up to a winning board position.
As of right now I am content with the ban list. The only other card I might add is Emrakul but that's more on the basis that he doesn't make the game better in any way. The format as is now is just as I had hoped it would be. Slower clocks and more interactivity.
They should ban more combo cards like through the breach. When aggro is the only deck left, they should ban wild nacatl to even it out. Mono red burn needs to be taken down a notch too.
They litterally banned all the good control and combo cards. This is nothing but legacy if control and combo didnt happen.

Yes, See Beyond isn't net card advantage, but neither Brainstorm is If you draw two potentially relevant cards and get rid of an extra useless land, it's as good as pure CA.

TBQH tumble magnet is way to slow to be relevant. Chalice of the void is only good to stop cards like pact of negation or living end. I guess you could set it for x=1 against zoo if your on the play, but odds are it might just trade with a pridemage not to mention the fact that zoo decks are going to "go bigger" to deal with the mirror.
If my math is correct I need around 3.5 artifacts to every thirst for knowledge that I run to even have a shot at having one for each thirst. this also doesn't count the times that I need to use some of these as for mana, removal or other various effects.
Also I want to have a pretty strong trinket package either main or sideboard, but this is also hard to do since chalice/pithing needle will often times be air against multiple opponents.

That's a very unfair bar to set it against. Brainstorm is better than see beyond in 1000 different ways. See beyond cost two and is a sorcery which makes it terrible unless your afraid of getting a specific card in hand like bogarden hellkite in D-storm. You maybe have a 1-20 chance of replacing a land that doesn't matter with a card that does, but at sorcery speed and in a control decks lands are typically needed as they come.

I guess they decided to cripple every deck from the top 8 at PT philly except Affinity. Wizards apparently wants us to sit there turning creatures sideways over and over again until somebody is at 0 life. This format is well on its way to being standard with a bigger card pool. I got into modern because of all the cool combos and interactions that standard doesn't have but most of them have been banned already and I'm sure plenty more will be on the chopping block soon.
Be careful about making your deck too good! If you make a deck that's too good at winning and a lot of fun to play with, Wizards will hear about it and ban your 2 favorite cards.

lol, not this guy again. combo is still very playable. It just can't still wins on turn 1 anymore. You people and your mindless auto pilot go-fish decks.

We're comparing See Beyond with Brainstorm now? That's just a ridiculous comparison to make. Sure you'll get the odd time you shuffle away a land you don't need, but you conveniently don't mention the times where you get all cards you actually want and have to shuffle one away. Brainstorm at least lets you put them on your library to get later or shuffle with a fetch. In conclusion, See Beyond doesn't deserve to hold Brainstorm's jock strap.

Nah, affinity will lose hard to zoo after they start siding in ancient grudge now that they don't need 5-6 dedicated slots to 12post.

let see which deck that 12 posts player would choose to play and then become the biggest group in modern.
