I have been checking in with the MTGO daily results on a regular basis. Its really diverse. I've seen
U/R Storm
Zoo
Red Affinity
Martry/Proc
Jund
RUG Tempo
B/R Burn
Twin Combo
Birthing Pod Combo
Living End
U/W Urza
G/B Rock
Merfolk
Ad Nauseum Combo
All make multuiple appearence in the top, and on a pretty frequent basis. Im probably even missing a few deck lists. This formate is the most interesting and diverse I have ever seen. (ofcourse I haven't checked up on Legacy since the banning of Mental Mistep, so take that with what you will)
I also believe it will stay this way for a long time. I don't think this is a fluke or a result of the format being new. What's your take on the current diversity of this format?
Is it a passing thing or here to stay for a long time?

Hi, nice to see a new perspective fresh with enthusiasm. Personally, I like the format a lot. And yes, as of now it seems very diverse - although you should probably take the MTGO daily results with a pinch of salt because the MTGO meta often turns out to be different than the meta that you're going to encounter at the upcoming PTQs in real life.
Many of the regular posters on the modern subforum are very pessimistic about this format and think that the metagame is the opposite of diverse. You'll probably run into them in this thread. Don't let them kill your enthusiasm.
But for real results we probably have to wait till after the PTQs.
There are a few others I would include in that list
Gifts
Hive Mind
Elves
Boros
Teachings
I know Elves havent been making much of an appearance lately, but with the banning of Punishing Fire, I believe it will start showing up again during the PTQ season.
There are a lot of decks that are competitive in this format and at least a half dozen of those are doing extremely well. I am sure there are a couple of hidden gems still waiting to be discovered. Its hard to believe we have covered everything at this point with such a large card pool.
As for what Beast is saying, well there is a lot of pessimistic talk, but its primarily coming from a single poster who just happens to post A LOT. Ignore the ignorant opinions that refuse to change. Just keep trying new stuff.
Yeah im glad there isnt one main dmoniate deck that has really emerged, and sometimes lots of odd decks with a little something diffrent that you wouldnt expect to do well. I have to get more staples though before i can start being more creative thou. I should try and start up mtgo, since none
of my local stores play it that much, they normaly just play standard.
Does anyone have like a pie chart for the precentages of decks most commonly played/ and won?
Cheers

Standard: pft, i love to see my cards depreciate in value once they rotate :S

Legacy: RDW, Pox
Vintage: Dark Depths, R Grey Orge
First of all, I agree that the format is fairly diverse, though the diversity listed here is a bit "casual" and loose. When the PTQ's start to happen and people are playing for something real, as opposed to the relativly meager prizes of a MTGO Daily, then you will see what decks they truly trust to take them to the top. All of those decks were around and about the same popularity before worlds, but then look at the breakdown of what decks were actually played. Zoo, more than any other deck when it came right down to it, was the deck that people played in order to try and win in a serious tournament. Regardless of the diversity seen leading up to it, a lot of players were not convinced that their Melira Pod deck (example) that they had been testing would get them to the top. The irony in that example is that Melira Pod had the best game by far against it's matchups.
I am not saying that it will be the same for the PTQ, or that more people will trust Zoo, just that (as others said) take it with a grain of salt. A little perspective is all that is needed.
The DCI's goal is that Modern's deck diversity is here to stay. Chances are, Dark Ascension and Avacyn Restored will put some random deck over the top for a while, then the banhammer will hit that deck (or possibly un-hit others) and diversity will come back.
I personally believe Legacy has higher deck diversity, but Modern is looking fairly good so far (at least, until the tournament results come back and possibly show that UR Storm is crushingly good or something--so far, that deck takes up around 1/6 of the Modern Dailies on MTGO, both in 4-0's and 3-1's and 4-0's combined).
format ibs bnrillant , it's very deverse and i think the ptq will show that. P.s storm is not a real deck it's just cheap and severly beatable
You are quite wrong there. It is cheap, it is beatable, it should not receive bans, but it is very much a deck (takes a lot of skill and concentration to play right) and it is far from "severely" beatable. You need to sideboard some hate, and you have a much better chance, but it is a mistake to write it off like that.
No, I do not play Storm. In fact I really hate facing it, and it has beaten me several times, but just because I do not like a deck does not meant I will scoff or discount it.
The format seems to be good right now, we'll have to wait for a big tournament to be sure though. Anyway, even if all the decks you mentioned are really competitive, it's still far from being as good as legacy at its best times.

While I agree with a majority of what you said, in this particular statement I would like to add that a lot of players took Zoo decks because they were already well established and because there is less risk than playing something new.
The diversity is gonna be short lived. Historically speaking, Modern has been one of the most degenerate formats ever.

An ARRAY of degenerate Combo, namely Shoal.
Zoo
The format amounts to a fusion of Old Extended and Pauper, with a bit less diversity for both. The current diversity is gonna be short lived; Pod, Bant, and Storm are on rotation for "Tier 0 Deck," placings.

This lol. Although elves were quite weak. 12post and zoo were extremely domiant, but I imagine zoo still is domiant and it will take a tournement with real players not some random dudes on the internet to prove that. Sorry for the terrible typing lol, new years gotta get drunk sometimes lol.

In life all we can do is try to make things better. Sitting lost in old ways and fearing change only makes us outdated and ignorant.
Peace cannot be kept by force. It can only be achieved by understanding.

Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined and imprisoned; yet we have not advanced one inch towards uniformity.
I also believe it will stay this way for a long time. I don't think this is a fluke or a result of the format being new. What's your take on the current diversity of this format?
I think Modern is looking better and better all the time. Dailies are constantly firing with a great varity of decks at the top. Data is just piling up from all these tournaments, and it indicates a nicely diverse metagame. At some point, even the naysayers will have to accept the facts rather than constantly finding new ways to dismiss them.
Is it a passing thing or here to stay for a long time?
I dont think anyone can say whats going to happen until we see a full tourny that is solely Modern from start to finish. I do like the fact people are trying thing tho. I hope it continues along those lines.

This. There's generally going to be a lot of diversity before the first major tournament, as no one has good data on what the best deck is.

Six of one, half dozen the other. The essence is that they trusted Zoo to get them to the top.
