I love the Ad Nauseam / Death's Shadow decks, but they never took off in Standard or Extended...any ideas for Modern? Is Zoo a better route? The basic idea is to load the deck with cheap RB spells like Bolt, Shadow, Bob (woah, you can use Bob now), and haste cards like Goblin Bushwhacker (there's a better cheap haste enabler now, correct?)...maybe GG, Thoughtseize...possibly acceleration, too...play Ad Nauseam as soon as possible, draw 10 to 15 cards, drop a bunch of weenies, destroy your opponent's board with removal and use your now-meager life total to drop one or two Death's Shadows with haste for the win.
Any ideas? Is it worth it? What's the best way to ramp into Ad Nauseam?
Dark Ritual, Cabal Ritual, Lotus Petal and Lion's Eye Diamond.
Which is why Ad Nauseum is only used in Legacy. The wincon, Tendrils of Agony, is also Legacy-exclusive. Grapeshot has only half the damage output and Empty the Warrens leaves you open to board wipes.
When you've blown 5 mana on Ad Nauseum, it's going to be difficult to cast anything that you drew, unless you draw into ramp which you can use immediately (so no Birds of Paradise). Unfortunately all the black ramp is in Legacy, the only ramp in Modern is red.

The better idea is to save 5 mana when you have Ad Nauseam so at the end of your opponent's turn, you can cast it and start drawing cards until your life total reaches about 5 (stopping there just in case you might draw another Ad Nauseam). You start your turn, untap, then you should have at least 6 mana open to kick at least one Goblin Bushwhacker and a few hasty Death's Shadow and other 1 mana creatures to swing for the win.
If you could cheat a Platinum Emperion into the battlefield, would that complete nullify Ad Nauseam's drawback? You aren't paying life, just losing it.

Yeah, that's why I saw Ad Nauseum with another card that said you life couldn't be reduced to less than one (on that turn) combo off for a win...
I brought up Platinum Emperion for two reasons: 1> It's got slightly different wording than your original card, and 2> Alternate WinCon.

@gumonshoe, I don't think so, but I might. I saw a different post earlier with Ad Nauseam and Angel's Grace, and I thought it was you based on your first response, but for whatever reason, I couldn't find that other thread. If I mistook you for someone else, my apologies.

It just seems like the AD/AG deck is better. You don't need all the cute nonsense cards.

In case I didn't tell you, I don't care about your opinion I just want your facts. And not the facts that make you seem smart. I want the ones that are actual facts.
I like the AG, I do, but against a control deck, it helps to have other options they must deal with.

This is a little off topic, but a deck was posted to The Source's Legacy section a while ago, and while it was pretty bad for Legacy, I'd think it at least warrants a peek for Modern. http://www.mtgthesource.com/forums/showthread.php?18346-New-Deck!-Seppuku-Samurai-Suicide/page2
Also, don't bump that thread, no matter how much you feel the urge to. It's just going to lead to another flame-fest.
I'm still going to say you need to splash green for Goyf in modern, and the removal of Stoneforge and Jitte is a bit of a hit to the deck. Maybe if you want to play Shadow though, this is your best bet.

Big Johnny.
A bit too slow... but could use some work.

I am petitioning to get players to stop complaining about mythic rarity. Sig this to join the cause.
