Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined and imprisoned; yet we have not advanced one inch towards uniformity.
Seismic Swans used Seismic Assault and a maindeck that was 2/3'ds lands. Throw a land at the Swans, draw two cards, pray at least one is a land, then throw that one at the Swans until you either have no lands in hand or enough lands to ping for lethal. It used Cascade spells like Deny Reality, Captured Sunlight, and Bloodbraid Elf to basically tutor for Swans of Bryn Argoll or Assault. It could only use counterspells with 5 cmc or above, though, as a Cascaded-into counterspell would be brutal (I suppose Cryptic Command wouldn't be completely useless, though). Failing all that, Plan C was manland beats.
Dakmor Salvage is a brilliant idea, though; it will guarantee that at least one card you draw will be a land. Then, throw it at the Swans or an opponent.
I played that deck in standard for a bit. It ran 4 Lotus Bloom for a turn 3 Seismic or Beseech the Queen to get Seismic, Followed by a Turn 4 or 5 Swans. Pitch two Dakmor use the first to do 2 damage, the second to dredge so you could get your Dakmors back. Rinse and repeat.
It ran 4 Tolaria West to search out Dakmor, as well as 2 Gaea's Blessing so you could infinitely draw your deck and keep pitching dakmor's for the kill.
THIS 100X!!! If you don't agree with this then there is no amount of logic that will ever convince you that good, non-oppressive, combos should be allowed. If you don't agree with it then just don't play this game, and you certainly shouldn't feel entitled to make any comment on ban lists ever.

Gitaxian probe >>>>> Street Wraith. One get's information and one doesn't. One contributes to storm while the other just sits there. The only way street wraith is better is if you're using a version reliant on cascade spells getting seismic no matter what.
If you want to fix the mana problem just run the alara reborn land cycler's ala sanctum plowbeast and co.
But swans combo in modern will revolve around getting seismic assault + swans in play + some lands in hand or at least one dakmor salvage in hand.

This discussion reminded me of a deck I almost tried building a long while back... It would be hilarious if someone built a 40 land deck with Seismic Assault, Selective Memory and Treasure Hunt.
i think swans combo will be relevent in modern but I don't know if you should be playing so many things that take away from the main way to win...seismic swans.
