Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
This is my friend's list from Saturday's ptq, another of my friends played it to 6-2 in Sunday night's ptq as well. The deck is very strong and well-positioned against all the Twin that's being played these days
Well, if Boros or RDW became an issue, I might consider Chalice of the Void in the sideboard then. Turning off alot of the cheap burn/removal could be essential.
I don't see why this deck isn't more popular. If you really need removal you could side in Dismember. I haven't ran into many games that are that bad versus Boros.
Annul is great in that Affinity match-up. The only thing it doesn't stop is Tezz, and that is if they even play it.

In case I didn't tell you, I don't care about your opinion I just want your facts. And not the facts that make you seem smart. I want the ones that are actual facts.
I tested against Boros, and the matchup is not good. Similarly, I've had major problems against aggro decks with good 1-drops, especially when I'm on the draw. Dismember is nice in theory, but is dangerous against decks packing Burn.
You could add some life gain into the MD, such as Sword of War and Peace, or Loxodon Warhammer. Other than that, you will probably have to fit your answers in the side.

Everyone knows that good luck and good game are such insincere terms that any man who does not connect his right hook with the offender's jaw on the very utterance of such a phrase is no man I would consider as such.
I honestly think this is the best deck in Modern right now. It beats Twin pretty handily, and Steel Sabotage and Annul out of the board and beat on Affinity.
I've been checking the past Top 8s, and this Fae list has been posting tons of Top 8s, how is it not in Established, yet?

Any ideas on how to improve the Aggro matchups?
I would consider splashing another color. Nothing extreme b/c you still want a high island count for a strong Shackles.
There are a lot of directions to go with Faeries, and it seems like there are a certain subset of cards that are inherently good against the field, then a certain subset of slots you can devote for the purpose of improving the mirror-ish matchups, or beating aggro.
Spellskites and Shackles jump out at me as being the 'best' cards in the deck, which makes me wonder if other tempo decks are possible around that shell (with or without faeries)

I've seen a decent amount of caw-blade decks picking up on shackles. I think some delver decks just don't run enough islands to rely on shackles. The fae easily can.
Shackles is the dirty little secret of modern control. The "weakness" is having to play lots of islands. Too many people refuse to play powered manabases to support the best decks. Spellskite is really good versus Boros. Which happens to be the deck that Stainerson beat in the semi's.

I don't think the aggro matchups are all quite that bad. Sure affinity is no cakewalk, but it's definitely not an auto loss. I would say splashing isn't a requirement and I've been quite happy with shackles, threads of disloyalty, and just basic tempo of the games.
Just a note: I will be updating this thread in the next day or two and doing an overhaul of the lists to reflect what has been tournament sucessful, so expect that in the next day or so.

Good to hear. The thing that holds this deck back isn't the deck but the skill it takes to pilot it right.
What is with all the Affinity and aggro issues? Shackles end almost ever aggro game. Snare and Sprite put a serious hurt on the Delver critters. This deck is by far and away pilot dependent. Don't change the list until you know why your losing. Far too often I see people playing with great lists just to make it worse because they don't take the time to learn the deck.

The real question that must be asked is: why would you choose to pilot this deck over cawblade? Both are the same core of vclique counterspells manlands and instand speed actions but caw has acces to true card advantage (hawks, snap) and a miles and away stronger sb combi
ned with path and snap that make aggro matchups a joke.
For reference im assuming an optimal caw list that is running shackles and tec edges. And speaking from experoencr shackles is just as potent in cawblade, they run plenty of islands.

The Fae have access to true card advantage, too. Wouldn't you like it if your 2-mana Mental Misstep/Spell Snare combo came with a flying 1/1 Faerie attached? You countered a spell, you got a creature--is that not a 2-for-1, especially since Scion of Oona and Pendelhaven will make that gal a threat?
The Fae just tear up combo viciously--imagine pitting your combo deck against a Draw-Go deck, with Faeries. They get to counter everything threatening you play and never, ever miss a beat when laying down the threats (just play them at EOT). I won one match against Enduring Ideal with Fae Twin simply by being the hard permission deck with V. Cliques.
Since Caw-Blade taps out more for stuff like Squadron Hawk, Kitchen Finks, and Batterskull, its game against combo is a bit compromised. It basically has to start playing Hawks on Turn 3 against UR Storm, which is just horrible for tempo compared to flashing in a V. Clique and following that up with a Scion of Oona.
Cawblade actually plays more vcliques than fae (4). And while im not disputing thatfae dominates combo, caw has a positive (while .not AS good of a matchup as fae) against combo of all sorts. Frankly i dont see how that warrents playing muf when caws aggro matchup is strikingly better

Some pretty interesting changes. The one-of's seems so odd, almost like it was thrown together last minute!
Obv, these were tested quite a bit though.

They each only require one red so; 4x Scalding Tarn 2x Misty Rainforest and 2x R/U Shock would be easy enough to put in.
This also opens up; Blood Moon / Ancient Grudge for the SB and maybe 1 Breeding Pool for flashing Ancient Grudge back?

Clearly youre very uninformed considering caw won a 155 person ptq 2 days before that, had 2 top 8s in the mocs, and has won multiple premier events.
