Favorite Playstyle (Aggro, Midrange, Control, Combo): Aggro, Control, Combo
How Competitive (For Fun, Local Tournament, MTGO, PTQ/GP): Fun, Local Tournaments.
Favorite Cards/Colors: Blue, Black, White.
Budget: Around $100?
Staples Owned: I have mostly cards from standards (Thalia, Hero of Bladehold, Birthing Pod, Elesh Norn, Shouldred, a few titans and thats what I can think of at the moment.)
I want to get into modern but I don't know what deck would suit me and how to obtain cards (other then singles) I need for that deck. I play BG Birthing Pod in standard and I was thinking of a Melira Birthing Pod Deck.
Despite your favourite colours not contributing to Melira Pod, it definitely seems like a good match. We know you like Pod in Standard, and it's definitely a contender in Modern. It's surprising you don't like midrange, that's what Pod is in Standard; It's a midrange combo deck.
It may be a little out of your price range though. Perhaps BW Tokens is more suited to your range, I'm not entirely sure what the prices are at the moment. Still, I think Melira Pod will be a good choice, it's going to be a combo deck that you seem to like, and it's fun to play, since you can do all sorts of crazy things.
If you narrow things down a little more, such as suggesting which playstyle you like (that's wide spectrum) or suggesting types you don't want to play, I can get a better idea.
I was looking at the melira pod primer and I do have some of the cards I can salvage to make the deck:
4 Melira, Sylvok Outcast:
1 Murderous Redcap
2 Entomber Exarch
1 Sun Titan
1 Sheoldred, Whispering One
1 Hex Parasite
4 Birds of Paradise
4 Llanowar Elves
2 Avacyn's Pilgrim
1 Restoration Angel
1 Mikaeus, the Unhallowed
4 Acidic Slime
2 Phyrexian Metamorph
1 Phantasmal image
3 Skinrender
2 Archon of Justice
1 Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite
4 Viscera Seer
2 Grand Abolisher
1 Wurmcoil Engine
4 Birthing Pod
2 Duress
3 Dismember
I can use most of my budget to get some of the lands and other spells I'll need for the deck.
@darksteel
I honestly don't know what midrange is. I'm familiar was aggro, combo, control, mill, burn, artifact and some odd decks like solar flare.
I don't know exactly what kind of play style that I really like (other then pod, something about pod I really like), but if I have to choose I think control is something I want.

i can safely speak for us both and say "go for it".
Hey everyone, thanks in advance for the suggestions!
Favorite Playstyle - I really like tempo decks - ones that create favorable board position via complex decision trees that then allow me to play cool creatures (i play mono G Fight Club in standard, and FairyNinjaStill or reanimator in legacy) (I also am developing a modern ninjas list)
How Competitive: I want this deck to serve as my intro to modern - Ill be taking it to the LGS and playing with it at friends houses and the like.
Favorite Cards/Colors: My favorite colors are B, G, and U - If I could be competitive within a budget (see next question) then I would like to play all 3 colors, but if that might be too difficult, I would prefer B/G (not infect) over B/U
Budget: Variable - I would like this to be a deck that I could build off the bat and upgrade into over time if I love it - for example, when starting blue in legacy, I played other counter spells until I decided to take the plunge and buy the FoW's etc. Having said that, cards like goyf etc. that go for that kind of money would be out of the question at this time.
Staples Owned: I have a bunch of stuff spread over a few boxes - While I might not have the staples, assuming they are reasonable priced, I can trade into them
Thanks so much for taking the time to look over this and I look forward to reading your response!
@Teddy - Midranged decks are decks like Pod, where you don't play super fast and get to just play a lot of cool cards. You play more 3 and 4 drops than you normally would that are more powerful, and often get to play some control elements. You basically play a plethora of different things. Right now, Esper Midrange is a deck, where it takes Delver, Esper Control, and mashes them together. You're going to get Snaps and Mana Leaks, you're going to see Sun Titans, and you're going to see Blade Splicers and Hero of Bladehold as midranged creatures, though Restoration Angel is also showing up a lot too.
@Zach - sounds like you want Delver. It's a good tempo deck in the format, has a lot of wiggle room, and has the complex decisions you want. There are quite a few builds available:
UW - plays Delver, Snap, Restoration Angel, Vendilion Clique, Geist of Saint Traft, Serum Visions, Paths and a lot of counterspells, including Cryptic Commands. It's often going to have no Paths, and at least 12-16 counterspells. I don't know exactly how the creature base is right now, those are just the ones I see people playing.
UWR - take a UW deck, then cut some creatures, the Paths, some counterspells, and add Lightning Helix and Bolt. Sometimes, they'll play Grim Lavamancer, it's good in the mirror. They also sometimes play Isochron Scepter.
RUG - I think you know what this is going to look like. Delver, Snap, Bolt, Tarmogoyf, it's looking a lot like Legacy, except worse duals, no Nimble Mongoose, worse Ponder effects. It's still a decent deck.
Hopefully, you can decide which seems the best for you and what you want to do. Personally, I like UW the most. If you happen to have Cliques, the deck has a lot of Standard stuff. Additionally, only the Cryptics are expensive, but all 3 decks will run Cryptics, so you can buy them and feel good about it. UW also has the least money invested in the dual lands, and if you find yourself wanting a Bolt later on, you can just find Steam Vents and Sacred Foundries to add.
Thanks so much for the reply - of the delver lists that you suggested, I like UW -> UWR delver the most and I will definately be proxying up and fooling around with them to see if it really does suit my playstyle (which will be likely because the decklists are pretty familiar to me).
Having said that, are there any popular or successful decks in the same vein of feeling that run Black and Green as the main colors? If not, I would happily brew up a list with them myself, but a jump off of some successful or popular choices would be fantastic!
Anyway, I think the thread idea you have here is brilliant, and I look forward to being able to contribute once I get my feet wet and begin understanding this new format,
Jund would probably be pretty good for you, but with Dark Confidant, Tarmogoyf, and a manabase heavy on shocks and fetches, it may be a bit expensive. (And I wouldn't play the deck without Bob and Goyf.)

When you peer long enough through the depths, the depths peer also through you.
I posted this in the Magic General section, and it was recommended that I repost here.
I tought my wife to play about a year ago. We typically enjoy 1vs1 EDH and the occasional game of standard. I want to make a modern deck for her that has as close as possible a 50/50 matchup with affinity. I play Boros affinity with 21 creatures (no Arcbound Ravager) and a hefty removal suite.
I won't be including hosers in either sideboard.
I don't want one of our decks to consistantly beat the other's.
I want to provide an opportunity for her to learn smarter play under aggro conditions, basically, how to use her resources quickly and effectively (without overextending) while dealing with the real threats immediately with the proper answers, and not wasting them too early/holding them too long.
Any suggestions (entire decks or just cards in general) are appreciated...and honestly, we would prefer a budget-minded deck.

I don't know what budget minded means, but Naya lists are really, really fun and can give affinity a pretty even matchup.
The deck is really fun and can teach some advanced concepts like -
exploiting fetchlands , knight of the reliquary, and lotus cobra for maximum value, using knight to fetch up utility lands for value
using removal like Path correctly
using a Fauna Shaman engine to get the creatures you need, knowing when to go for the Vengevine swarm route and when to tutor up silver bullets
This was one of many rotating lists I was trying at one point
4 Knight of the Reliquary
3 Bloodbraid Elf - (this was the only thing I REMEMBER cutting / experimenting with. Everything else is solid gold)
1 Sword of Light and Shadow
4 Fauna Shaman
2 Birds of Paradise
2 Elspeth, Knight-Errant
3 Path to Exile
4 Vengevine
3 Lotus Cobra
3 Arid Mesa
1 Baneslayer Angel
1 Sword of Feast and Famine
1 Dryad Arbor
4 Forest
2 Horizon Canopy
1 Misty Rainforest
2 Plains
1 Sejiri Steppe
2 Temple Garden
2 Tectonic Edge
2 Treetop Village
4 Verdant Catacombs
4 Noble Hierarch
1 Qasali Pridemage
1 Arena
1 Scryb Ranger
1 Stomping Ground
The creature base is the majority of the $$ but the landbase is annoyingly pricey too.. not gonna lie. I proxy most of this deck irl, but it is a ton of fun and very strong.
@Zach, you may find that Jund is a suitable deck as well. It's RBG and plays a lot of sweet spells in those colours. You get Bob and Bloodbraid Elf for tempo, you get Tarmogoyf as a huge creature, you get Liliana and Vindicate to kill things, you even get Bolt and Maelstorm Pulse. You also get access to all the early disruption, so you're going to play some number of Inquisition of Kozilek and Thoughtseize as well.
The only issue is the deck is expensive. You need 4 Bob, 4 Tarmogoyf, 2-3 Thoughtseize, 3 Liliana. You also need a boat load of expensive lands, as your manabase is not user-friendly. It's full of shocks and fetches, the only thing saving is it some filter lands, but the deck is still stupid expensive.
@wubrg, most decks can be tuned to beat Affinity if that's what you want. More so, you can find a way to tune the MB such that it has a 50/50 affinity matchup. The issue is, you want her to learn to not overextend, but to also not use certain resources too early, and it's somewhat conflicting. In the first, I think more of aggro decks, where we're going to go all-in early, and the latter makes me think of control decks, where we have a Wrath in hand and we don't want to play it too early.
The thing with Affinity is that you're likely not going to see them punish you for overextending. The deck doesn't typically play Wrath spells or any major clearing spells, so it's the one that's trying to overextend, actually. Even if you play something like Zoo, where you want to be dropping some guy every turn, or whatever, you're still not going to overextend against Affinity. You'll likely just trade a lot in creature heavy decks.
Personally, Path to Exile is the perfect card to learn to use against Affinity. It's very powerful and really hurting Affinity, but also something that can gain value later. You could stop a few damage now to try to stabilize earlier, or you can try to play it later when they're swinging for 10 infect, or with a huge flier that you can't stop.
When I think Path, I immediately think:
Bant Aggro, UW Gifts Tron, and UW(R) Delver.
Bant Aggro is going to play a lot of the same cards that bardo suggested, except you're not going to play Bloodbraid and you'll play Geist of Saint Traft instead. They also don't often play Vengevine, I don't remember off my head what they play, but I (or you) can certainly find it on here somewhere, it's probably an established deck in the format.
UW Gifts Tron is control with a few combos. The Boros Affinity matchup is something like 45/55 for Tron, so some editing to the deck would be necessary to make that matchup better. It's also going to be a lot harder to play correctly, it's probably the second or third most difficult deck to play in the format.
UW(R) Delver is also another difficult deck to play, I'm not sure whether it's easier or harder to play than Tron. Snapcaster is definitely one of the most difficult cards to play with. The deck gets to run some Paths in the UW version, while the UWR version is going to have Bolt and Helix. Helix is absolutely insane against Boros Affinity, it kills something pesky AND gives you life, which is important in that matchup.
Additionally, I feel like UR Storm is great to play against this deck. Boros just has to try to race you, because Storm will have them dead by turn 4 maximum, quite often turn 3 and occasionally turn 2. It's also the most difficult deck to play in the format, and it doesn't interact. That said, it's one of the best decks in the format, and ends up like Dredge in Legacy, where they need to dedicate sideboard cards against it or just straight up lose.
You can always find ways to make decks budget. The decks above are probably going to be closer to $300, since they're going to need lands, but if you happen to have Standard stuff, it can get cheaper. Owning Snaps would cut out $60 or so from Delver, that might get there for you. Tron is probably around $400 for the entire deck, including all the dual lands and sideboard, maybe $350 (I just put together this deck, but had been trading for cards for a while). UR Storm, I know, is going to cost under $150, without a sideboard, if you skimp on the manabase. Ideally, it should have like 4 fetches and 4 Steam Vents, but hey, you can often manage without them and it saves you >$100.
Hey all, I've been considering getting into Modern, but have been having trouble deciding what to do, especially since a lot of staples (especially lands) are quite expensive. That said, I'd love some advice on where to start:
Favorite playstyle: Either control or midrange. A deck archetype that could go between the two without too much trouble (or at least too extreme an additional monetary cost) is a plus, but not required.
How Competitive: Mainly local tournaments. That said, I'm open to the option of investing in something I could use at more competitive events. I'm going back to school in a year or so, and would like to get a good baseline deck in case I am unable to spend money on cards as a student and want to be competitive.
Favorite cards/colors: I love white and/or black. I'm not particularly attached to specific cards, but love the controlling aspect of these colors. I don't really like blue, as I find its version of control to be less fun.
Budget: $150-200. This does not necessarily need to include lands. I don't mind playing a janky land version and slowly investing in these after the deck is built. The store I would go to also currently allows proxies, and while I really dislike using them, am not opposed to using them for lands while I slowly invest in the mana base.
Staples owned: Duress, Smother, 1x Dark Confidant; Delver, Pestermite, Negate, Mana Leak; Thalia, Serra Avenger, Path to Exile, Timely Reinforcements; Melira; Tormod's Crypt, Grafdigger's Cage, Sword of War and Peace, Sword of Body and Mind, 1x Sword of Feast and Famine; Pridemage, Spectral Procession, Lingering Souls, Unburial Rites; all the filter lands, all the Zendikar Manlands, Dryad Arbor, Ghost Quarter

the deck most in your colours near your target budget is bw tokens but it's aggro.
there is no non-blue control or midrange deck i can think of that is both competitive and contains white/black.
i would suggest for control looking up UW tron, and RG tron.

The only decks I know of that are competitive and contain both white and black are Melira Pod and BW Tokens.
Melira Pod is a midrange combo deck. It tries to get Melira in play with Murderous Redcap/Kitchen Finks and Viscera Seer and then infinite loop sacrificing one of the two guys to either deal infinite damage or gain infinite life. The deck ends up midranged some times because you do play bigger guys like Sun Titan and Finks can really do a number to a lot of decks. This deck has fallen out of favor as of late, and people are playing a Naya version of it that uses Kiki-Jiki and Restoration Angel instead, to make infinite tokens and end up similar to Splinter Twin.
BW Tokens is a midranged aggro deck. You're going to play Lingering Souls, Spectral Possession and go to town like that.
Currently, dedicated control decks are not present in the format. They're just not good enough to get things done, and as such, the closest deck is probably UW Gifts Tron. It's a combo control deck that plays a few small combo pieces like Gifts Ungiven to fetch Unburial Rites and Iona or Elesh Norn. It, of course, also plays things like Emrakul when it wants to go big. Sadly, you don't like blue, as it's going to run 5 MB counterspells, 4 Gifts Ungiven and 4 Thirst for Knowledge.
There are several other control decks that are maybe second tier, but they're all at least blue. Thing is, if blue is good in a format, then it's going to be the choice colour for control. Counterspells are just too good most of the time, and in Modern, you've got some really good ones like Remand and Cryptic Command. Not to mention that with black, you're typically going to use cards like Doom Blade, which aren't really that good when Path to Exile is legal. Plus, Gifts Ungiven and Mystical Teachings are cards, so they really tend to be popular for control. I can't begin to describe how good Gifts is in this format, even Delver decks are sideboarding it.
That's what I can suggest so far. If you want to play one of them, that's great. If not, you're welcome to provide some more information for me to try to suggest other decks. Modern is really awkward right now because of the lack of a viable control deck. It's mostly combo, aggro and tempo at the moment.
I played B/W tokens in Standard when DKA came out, so I have a lot of the pieces, which will help with the budget (I can invest in better land), and I happen to have a playset of Ajani 1.0 lying around too, which helps some. That said, I wasn't necessarily attached to playing both black and white. Are there any decks that feature just one or the other in my budget? I guess if blue is really needed for control, I'd be open to something w/u, u/b or esper.

WU Restoration Control is very good. Take a look at that. Normally it would be a tempo deck, but some lists dont run delver and instead go later game with baneslayer angels instead. Its very solid but needs a good pilot to play it.
Let's try naming some decks that are in your colours and see what we get. I'll leave off any decks already mentioned:
Jund - RGB, it's an aggro tempo deck. Bob, Tarmogoyf, lots of lands - likely out of your budget.
Aggro Loam - RGB, similar to Jund except we now use Life from the Loam and Seismic Assault - likely out of your budget
UW(R) Affinity - An aggro deck that uses all artifacts and some cards like Galvanic Blast and Thoughtcast - this deck is cheap
Bant Aggro - uses powerful creatures like Geist of Saint Traft, Steppe Lynx and Knight of the Reliquary - is in the middle in terms of expense, it's not too bad, I think.
UW(R) Delver - A tempo deck with Delver and Snapcaster as the base. UW plays counter heavy and potentially 4 Paths for removal. It'll run a variety of creatures, from Steppe Lynx to Geist to Clique. It's a very powerful deck right now. Probably outside budget, it's expensive to get shocks and fetches. The red version is going to add Bolt, Helix and quite often Isochron Scepter
Martyr Proc - A lifegain deck that attempts to use Martyr of Sands and Serra Ascendant to get value and survive for a while. Likely in your budget, a lot of cheap cards and no duals.
Death and Taxes - An odd style of control where you control by limiting the things your opponent can do. You play Thalia, Aven Mindcensor, Leonin Arbiter, Mangara of Corondor, it's a nasty deck that people hate playing against. It's probably in your budget.
Gifts Control - Looks similar to UW Gifts Tron, except we're taking out Tron cards and adding in more control typed cards, like Snapcaster. It's hard to find a solid list because there are many different versions, but because of that, you can go all over the place. A lot of lists may be out of your range based on lands though, as they're often 3 or 4 colours with some of them splashed.
Teachings Control - looks like a stock UB control deck. A big creature or two, some Snapcasters, a bunch of counterspells and spot removal, everything you need out of it.
Living End Combo - A combo deck that uses a bunch of cascade cards in order to get a ton of creatures in the graveyard and then cascade into Living End. Most of the cards aren't expensive, the deck just gets some expense out of lands.
Goryo's Vengeance Combo - A new combo deck that gets to Vengeance into Griselbrand and win in one turn.
Hopefully something I've listed tickles your fancy. If you want more info on a deck, let me know. You are most certainly playing blue in any control deck, so it's probably worth looking up some lists and finding what you like the most. I will remind you that control is near unplayable in this meta. The best control deck is probably still UW Gifts Tron, and it's like a low tier 1 or high tier 2 right now. The meta at the GP this weekend was all Pod and Delver, that was more than 50% of it on day 2.
I'm really new to modern and was interested on seeing how it differs from other formats. Could anyone tell me?
Favorite play style: mid-range, combo, aggro decks that do a lot cool fun things
Budget:really low.
Fav cards: Gideon, Sorin lord of innistrad, Olivia voldarean, sun Titan.
Fav colors: rbw, bw, rg, rw, w
How competitive: FNM, for fun
Decks: I have a low budget bant exalted deck from shards.

i dont know how low a budget "really low" falls into but if its as low as i think it is based on how many decks you own across formats i'd suggest that you visit the extreme budget deck thread in the "deck creation" section of modern. all types of decks there that are both cheap and modern legal.
@DarkAvenger - solid Modern decks are somewhat expensive, probably not "really low". If you skip on lands, you can build decks at about $150, not sure if that's what you want or not.
Also, you should perhaps post what you have in that Bant Exalted deck. Having 4 Noble Hierarchs could easily put you toward a Bant deck in Modern, especially given that Geist of Saint Traft is still in Standard and should be reasonable to pick up.
Sadly, there are almost no Planeswalkers played in the format. The only two I can think of off my head are Liliana of the Veil and Karn. Liliana is, unfortunately, played in perhaps the most expensive Modern deck(s), so we won't explore that territory. Karn, on the other hand, is played in a more reasonable deck, if obtaining 4 Karn and 4 Wurmcoil Engines aren't too difficult and still leave you room to obtain other cards.
In terms of what you want from a deck, given the play style, Pod seems like a solid choice. It's either going to be Naya, Jund or 4 coloured, and do a lot of cool things. It'll want to combo out with either infinite tokens or infinite damage/life, depending on which colour choices you make. It's also a midranged deck, much like Standard pod. Aside from that, it has a lot of cool fun things you can do with it. On a bit of a sour note though, it's a very difficult deck to play correctly, and one of the most difficult to play in the format. It's also likely outside of your range.
If you want more sound advice, suggest a budget value and more options/specifics as to what you want. For under $150, you're not going to get a competitive deck, I should think, and it'll be best to find some upcoming deck to play instead. And for $150, you're going to end up with a good deck with a budget build, like Storm, which is fairly linear, complex, and actually not all that fun to play (in my opinion).

Wow! Modern is really a really expensive format! But could you tell me what Modern really is! Is it like standard but with some legacy cards? I don't quite understand. I think if someone explained I'd get a much more clearer idea of what I really have and could get. And I'll post my Bant Exalted deck probably later on today.
I'm putting the Exalted deck into modern deck creation. I realize the decks in my sig arent really Legacy. Could you tell me if this is true? Anyway im putting them as modern which i assume is the right thing?
Looking for a new modern deck to play. I keep looking through developing competitive and established and can't make up my mind.
Favorite Playstyle (Aggro, Midrange, Control, Combo): Sad to say that I like playing them all, or switching up between them. Midrange or control probably my favorite.
How Competitive (For Fun, Local Tournament, MTGO, PTQ/GP): Local Tournament level
Favorite Cards/Colors: Favorite color is probably white. I like all kinds of cards and strategy.
Budget: Doesn't matter. I just got a biannual bonus and want to spend a chunk of it on magic cards.
Staples Owned: I have mono U faeries, Mono W D&T, and U/W Tron. So main cards from each of those. Sometimes I wonder if it'd be better if I pulled cards out of those to save money, sometimes I want to change up and play something not in those colors.
Anyway, any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Grixis Death's Shadow, Jund, UW Tron, Jeskai Control, Storm, Counters Company, Eldrazi Tron, Affinity, Living End, Infect, Merfolk, Dredge, Ad Nauseam, Amulet, Bogles, Eldrazi Tron, Mono U Tron, Lantern, Mardu Pyromancer
I was looking at the melira pod primer and I do have some of the cards I can salvage to make the deck:
4 Melira, Sylvok Outcast:
1 Murderous Redcap
2 Entomber Exarch
1 Sun Titan
1 Sheoldred, Whispering One
1 Hex Parasite
4 Birds of Paradise
4 Llanowar Elves
2 Avacyn's Pilgrim
1 Restoration Angel
1 Mikaeus, the Unhallowed
4 Acidic Slime
2 Phyrexian Metamorph
1 Phantasmal image
3 Skinrender
2 Archon of Justice
1 Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite
4 Viscera Seer
2 Grand Abolisher
1 Wurmcoil Engine
4 Birthing Pod
2 Duress
3 Dismember
I can use most of my budget to get some of the lands and other spells I'll need for the deck.
@darksteel
Best!

Grixis Death's Shadow, Jund, UW Tron, Jeskai Control, Storm, Counters Company, Eldrazi Tron, Affinity, Living End, Infect, Merfolk, Dredge, Ad Nauseam, Amulet, Bogles, Eldrazi Tron, Mono U Tron, Lantern, Mardu Pyromancer
Anyway, I think the thread idea you have here is brilliant, and I look forward to being able to contribute once I get my feet wet and begin understanding this new format,
Best!

The deck is really fun and can teach some advanced concepts like -
exploiting fetchlands , knight of the reliquary, and lotus cobra for maximum value, using knight to fetch up utility lands for value
using removal like Path correctly
using a Fauna Shaman engine to get the creatures you need, knowing when to go for the Vengevine swarm route and when to tutor up silver bullets
This was one of many rotating lists I was trying at one point
4 Knight of the Reliquary
3 Bloodbraid Elf - (this was the only thing I REMEMBER cutting / experimenting with. Everything else is solid gold)
1 Sword of Light and Shadow
4 Fauna Shaman
2 Birds of Paradise
2 Elspeth, Knight-Errant
3 Path to Exile
4 Vengevine
3 Lotus Cobra
3 Arid Mesa
1 Baneslayer Angel
1 Sword of Feast and Famine
1 Dryad Arbor
4 Forest
2 Horizon Canopy
1 Misty Rainforest
2 Plains
1 Sejiri Steppe
2 Temple Garden
2 Tectonic Edge
2 Treetop Village
4 Verdant Catacombs
4 Noble Hierarch
1 Qasali Pridemage
1 Arena
1 Scryb Ranger
1 Stomping Ground
The creature base is the majority of the $$ but the landbase is annoyingly pricey too.. not gonna lie. I proxy most of this deck irl, but it is a ton of fun and very strong.
Good call...that was really vague...under $300, preferably under $150.

Grixis Death's Shadow, Jund, UW Tron, Jeskai Control, Storm, Counters Company, Eldrazi Tron, Affinity, Living End, Infect, Merfolk, Dredge, Ad Nauseam, Amulet, Bogles, Eldrazi Tron, Mono U Tron, Lantern, Mardu Pyromancer
Thanks!
Draft my cube! (630 cards)
the deck most in your colours near your target budget is bw tokens but it's aggro.
there is no non-blue control or midrange deck i can think of that is both competitive and contains white/black.
i would suggest for control looking up UW tron, and RG tron.
Grixis Death's Shadow, Jund, UW Tron, Jeskai Control, Storm, Counters Company, Eldrazi Tron, Affinity, Living End, Infect, Merfolk, Dredge, Ad Nauseam, Amulet, Bogles, Eldrazi Tron, Mono U Tron, Lantern, Mardu Pyromancer
Draft my cube! (630 cards)
WU Restoration Control is very good. Take a look at that. Normally it would be a tempo deck, but some lists dont run delver and instead go later game with baneslayer angels instead. Its very solid but needs a good pilot to play it.
Grixis Death's Shadow, Jund, UW Tron, Jeskai Control, Storm, Counters Company, Eldrazi Tron, Affinity, Living End, Infect, Merfolk, Dredge, Ad Nauseam, Amulet, Bogles, Eldrazi Tron, Mono U Tron, Lantern, Mardu Pyromancer

Wow! Modern is really a really expensive format! But could you tell me what Modern really is! Is it like standard but with some legacy cards? I don't quite understand. I think if someone explained I'd get a much more clearer idea of what I really have and could get. And I'll post my Bant Exalted deck probably later on today.

Thanks.
