That's a tricky one Vault is seen a decent amount outside of standard, and is a key piece in a few decks. This strikes me as one that is gradually going to rise again over time, perhaps dipping a bit at rotation. If you need it, I probably wouldn't wait for it to drop in price, but I am no expert. I could easily see it rising enough that when it dips, it goes back to the levels it was at a month ago, thus not saving you a ton of money even if you were to wait all the way until rotation (which you don't want to do it sounds like)
I was pining for Mutavault for a while, waiting for it to be a bit more affordable, but I finally looked at the price of Blinkmoth Nexus and decided that it was a better value for play. Sure, it is not improved via tribal pumps, but it is reliable, evasive, and a good price.
I make no claims that it will get more expensive over time, but it is quite a buy for players.

You are right, Vault really does require a tribal deck with lords to shine. Granted the activation cost is quite efficient, you are still left with a vanilla 2/2 at the end of the day, which isn't that impressive in this format. Yes, it is cheap to activate, but if you are swinging with a vault that early in the game you are losing quite a bit of tempo most likely. If I'm playing green for example (and not playing tribal), I'd rather have a treetop village, even thought it comes into play tapped and goes online later in the game.
Nexus is quite good as well, and is definitely a good suggestion as the evasion becomes very big for smaller creatures in this format, especially if you can pump it with something else.
*Edit: to add one final thought to this, Vault is an average man-land in many decks that have better options, but an absolute house/the best possible man land in some very specific types of decks (most of which are outside standard), thus I think it will continue to rise in price over time and will definitely be a card that suffers from price memory despite being printed in a core set.

I can agree with that. The only other thing I would add is that the MM printing of Blinkmoth Nexus is so visually appealing that it really makes me want to use it. Many of the color identified lands are better- my three favorites are Treetop Village, Faerie Conclave, and Creeping Tar Pit, but they all have more specific needs that are harder to meet at times. I think it is good to have a playset of a good colorless manland for times when you need it, and the only three that are decent are Inkmoth Nexus, Blinkmoth Nexus, and Mutavault. The first and the third really need some other aspect in the deck in order to really shine, though when they do they are fantastic, but BN does a decent job all around.

And I can agree with this as well. Blinkmoth is a great land, you're right about that. Plus, it definitely brings the flavor and is enjoyable to play. In terms of price it also doesn't break the bank.
On a side note, it also brings back fond memories of when I used to play super casually back in Mirrodin during college. I built a U/W proteus staff deck with set of blinkmoths being an alternative target to things such as raise the alarm tokens in order to get out my darksteel colossus.
Considering their previous From the Vault cards, I wouldn't expect too much of From the Vault "Modern Staples". I hope to be wrong, though.
Where are people getting this from? I think it's really cool if the next From the Vault series is going to be Modern Staples, but I just don't see how this will actually happen.
What do you guys think about the long term price of thoughtseize (Theros version specifically). They seem pretty cheap right now.

I would say get them now. I don't think they will drop too much more, and will most likely go up again down the road. Plus, if you are putting them in a deck, it's worth having them to play with instead of waiting to save a few bucks short term on a card that will most likely go up down the road.
Curious about a few more cards and where you guys could seem them going in value?
Inquisition of Kozilek, still one of the best discard spells in the format, never has been reprinted, and very specific name so highly unlikely to be reprinted in core sets.
Inkmoth Nexus, very powerful land, mandatory staple in any infect deck, Modern or Legacy. Also useful in EDH and other various control decks. Only printed once, in a small set, has been slowly going up.
Path To Exile, still the best removal in the format, just got a wave from MM, but this card should be going up again soon? Same goes for Kitchen Finks?
I kinda want to build a Naya deck. Right now, Domri Rade is $25 and Voice of Resurgence is $40. How much do you think they will drop when they rotate in October? If you all think they will drop to $10 and $20 respectively, I probably will wait a year before building a new deck.

If anyone at Wizards is reading, THIS would be a good list for reprints in Modern Master 2. And make it actually useful this time - print enough tarmos. Modern was supposed to be accesible.
At least reprint the fetchlands, pretty please. The other five.
EDIT: come to think of it, there are a lot of cards at the end of the list that are bound to lower their prices when they rotate out. I didn't count Standard inflation.

Hey, I was able to get four of them at 5.75 each...on MTGO.
I got a pair out of finally resolving a trade offer I made early on in fall semester at Uni.
And this was while frequently watching the price trends as aggregated by TCGP.
There was this moment where it was a pretty good time to buy paper 'Seizes, as I recall. I think they got as low as $10 per at one point, and in this hobby you gotta be ready to shell out at least $40 or so on cardboard, y'know? Massive improvement over when the Lorwyn print was all there was, at any rate.
Noticed Deathrite Shaman dropping from $15 down to $12. Is it seeing less play, or just a better time to stock up?
I think DRS is a very shaky investment. I am not saying it will or won't (save that for the banned thread), but it is easily one of the most talked about cards when it comes to future bans. I would be leery to buy into it, and don't see it as a big payout relatively quickly. I'm not dumping my playset or anything, but I am not going to buy any in excess to those 4.
Agreed, it sees major play in every format it's legal in. It's also even more powerful in Legacy so even if it gets banned in Modern there will still be demand for it in Legacy.
The problem with that logic is that RTR was one of the most popular sets ever printed. There are roughly double the number of players now than there were back when older sets in modern were printed. So there are far more copies of deathrite shaman than rares printed in older sets.

Deathrite is solid investment, it's the best 1 mana creature in the history of the game and even if it ever gets banned in modern it will be in Legacy forever.
Can people stop saying this? Compare Deathrite to Hermit druid, lackey, Goblin welder and come back to me
Can people stop saying this? Compare Deathrite to Hermit druid, lackey, Goblin welder and come back to me
Hermit Druid is 2 mana. It is better than Goblin Welder for sure and I'd say that it is better than Goblin Lackey, though that probably is the third best 1 mana creature after DRS and Delver.

I would agree with this thinking, the time to invest in Deathrite Shaman was during RTR release when it was barely hitting 5$

It's current value is based on it being in demand in Modern and Legacy (gotta take your word for that, I don't follow it), but if Modern bans it then suddenly it will only be in demand for one. That will lower prices for some time after. Sure, five years later it could be back up, but most people are not looking at that as a viable length for MTG investment.
I have my play set DRS already and I will probably just sit on them for the time being.
WoTC did a good job saturating the market with RtR that players entering Modern later can easily pick up a play set of DRS without much trouble.
In the bizarre event DRS plummets for some reason, gut feeling tells me Grim Lavamancer might spike up.
By the way, anyone ever notice how cheap Lavaman is?
Don't tell me DRS put him out of a job, DRS can't aim shocks like Lavaman can. Sometimes being able to fry bodies is more valuable than edging out more shocks off a given graveyard state!
