i know i'm playing a rare type of "the rock" with primeval tian in my list. but if you are running prim-time in a what should the land composition look like?
Finally managed to grab all the cards through trading and vendors at GP LA! Highlights included a Spanish Bob going for $35, and 2 Chinese Liliana, the Last Hope, for $10 off market price.
I managed to get full playsets of Verdant Catacombs, Liliana of the Veil, and Bob, only having to spend $50 actual cash and emptying my trade binder for the rest. I can finally play the deck I've fantasized about ever since it thrashed me during one of my first Modern events.
My list is below, any general tips/advice for a new Rock player?
A main-deck Spellbomb makes more sense to me that a single Bauble. I also would prefer Languish to Expertise. The extra point may save your bacon. You'll often be Hellbent by the time you have four mana anyway.
A quite solid list though perhaps others will have nitpicks as well.

Thanks! And yeah, it was a toss up, Bauble is honestly just there to pump Goyf a bit more. Definitely will try to get some Languish today at the GP.

I have been playing BW for a long time but planing on switching to BG once I acquire my 3rd and 4th goyf. I would probaly play a list very similar to yours and here are some of my thoughts regarding your 75.
I have been running two nihil spellbomb main deck for a while in bw and it has been great. It gives you an out to all the degenerate gw-decks running around, but it also have many vs other decks such as uw-control: you can exile the grave in response to the snapcaster mage etb, you can exile the grave to delay search for azcanta, you can use it to draw a card in the event that your opponent bonces your liliana of the veil in response to the +1 ability just to name a few.
When do you side in Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet? With an extra spellbomb in the 75 I'd probably consider adding a 3rd collective brutality but that might be because I don't know your sideboard plan.
I would run an urborg, tomb of yawgmoth if I were you: with 4 colorless lands you run run a risk of color screw and urborg can help mitigate some of that risk. You currently only run 4 fetchlands and urborg allows them to tap for mana, this can be relevant in some cases when you need the fetchland later to trigger revolt for fatal push, the ability to tap for mana with out fetching (and paying 1 life) can also be relevant vs burn or if you run in that prevents you from searching or the odd case of mill when you have no fetch-able targets left.
How has Ishkanah, Grafwidow been for you so far? It feels like a card you want vs fast decks to stabilize the board but it seems quite slow at 5cmc and it also requires a bit of setup, I would probably run a second Raking Canopy as that card seems great vs both spirits and arclight phoenix and hollow one.

Thanks for the tips! Definitely putting in a copy of Urborg, I did okay but lost a game or two today at the GP from having no black sources in my opening hand. I honestly netdecked so I'm not sure what Ishkanah is for, but I did try to use her during my Mill matchup today to burn through an Ensnaring Bridge, not a fan tho. The third Kalitas is there because I only own 2 Collectives at the moment, I might add a Kitchen Finks however instead of a second Canopy to replace Ishkanah. What would you cut maindeck for a second Nihil Spellbomb? I already replaced the Bauble with one.
I won against Burn and Mono-Red Phoenix, lost to Sultai Reclamation and Dimir Mill (dude had the luckiest topdeck ever), but I really love the way the deck plays. Both Lilianas are so niceeeeee.

I'm currently preparing for GP Bilbao - where I'm either gonna play Rock or Grixis Shadow, currently leaning towards Rock.
I've been playing the following list at my local meta to quite a bit of success (going 3-1, 4-0 and 3-1) - I am however a bit worried about Dredge, Phoenix and Scales. Because of this I've contemplated cutting the 2 Tireless Trakcers for 2 Wheel of Sun and Moon (or just play it safe and use surgical or more spellbombs). As I've not yet had the chance to properly test against these decks I'd love to get experiences from the rest of you, how hard are the matchups, which things are key - and which graveyard hate would you prefer in each matchup? The reason I'm considering Wheel of Sun and Moon is simply that it should help against both Dredge, Phoenix (nice interaction with crackling drake here) and Scales.
I'm new to Rock so I'm not sure how good my input would be, but I personally prefer Tracker from my experiences from GP LA and using Tracker in other decks. The extra card draw is nice, especially if for whatever reason you don't want to be burned out by Bob, and it's a threat the opponent HAS to answer with removal or disruption or your card advantage goes through the roof, especially with Bob AND Tracker out. Also becomes a pretty big beater fairly quickly, as yesterday I found I usually had enough mana open at the end of an opponent's turn to crack a clue.
For graveyard hate, I found I prefer Grafdigger's Cage against Dredge, as Spellbombs do dent their graveyard, but chances are they'll still be able to keep refilling it afterwards, which makes the Cage a nice buffer until you can find another Spellbomb or a Surgical. For Phoenix, not sure which is better, as Cage also stops them from being able to cast anything from the grave with Snapcaster.
That's my two cents, hope it was okay input!

I don't think you need two spell bombs main and your new list looks fine. BW and BG are two very different decks BW is much more of a control deck that can't close out games as fast as BG. My main point was that spellbomb have relevant text vs many different decks where as bauble only let's you pseudo scry if you have a fetchland.
A split between cage and spellbomb is prob the best as cage also have relevant text vs green toolbox decks where it stops collected company and chord of calling I would run a 2 spellbombs and 1 cage in my 75 if I had 3 slots open.

I do not mean to be rude, but I do not understand radiant fountain in 2 colored deck with 5 shocks and no basics. Adding 1 basic land would have the same effect as it doesn't force you to shock when you crack a fetch to have it come in to play untapped.
I would prob add some bounce lands as it allows you to re-use the etb effects on your land. Other than that modern is really fast now and you could maybe try Sejiri Steppe to have your titan gain protection from a relevant color and thus unblockable.

Ishkanah, Grafwidow is there to provide multiple blockers with Reach. She can also provide some "reach" herself when you get that boatload of mana that her activated ability requires.
Also total noob question, what's people's advice for taking on big mana decks? I've read the primer sections on Tron but I'd like some personal experiences too. There are two or three regular Tron players and two Amulet Titan players at my LGS. I love the Rock but it's a significantly worse matchup than when I was playing Ponza or Red Prison.

Having looked at the decklists (and metagame) that did well at GP LA - I've come up with the following list that, thus far, I'm planning on taking to GP Bilbao:
Comparing it with the last list I've dropped the Choke and Languish from the sideboard in exchange for 2 Surgical Extractions. I figure this way I should have a good amount of graveyard hate against various strategies - and still have a decent shot at beating both spirits and humans + control.

Tron decks are horrible match-ups. They are the reason I play Ghost Quarter instead of Field of Ruin but there probably isn't any way of making the match-up favorable.
In addition to the Ghost Quarters, one has Assassin's Trophy and Fulminator Mage in the side-board. Surgical Extraction can keep them off of Tron permanently, which will give you a few more turns to beat them.
If you really want to compete with Tron, main-deck Ghost Quarter, at least three Trophies, side-board at least three Fulminators and three Surgical.
@pzbw7z : my point of view about tron match-up is quite different, i think it's now a slightly favorable match-up. They need to tron t3 to win the game easily, otherwise the game will be close. I have 4 trophy MD and 4 FoR, 3 fulmi and 2 surgical MD (and i cut 1 fulmi just yesterday) and i am currently 5-0 against G Tron (1 irl and others on mtgo comp leagues), i think my opponents were not really good tron players because they always side board as if they will have no problem to put tron online. To be honest, now i am more happy to play against t1 urza's land than humans/spirits with Rock.
@jokerstyle00 : Amulet titan is slightly unfavourable imo. obviously that kin dof match-ups are far easier with red prison or ponza aha !
I think the most important thing to remember against both tron and amulet titan is that you cannot afford to simply "trade landdrops". Against tron specifically you really need to land a threat on turn 2. Ideally discard turn 1, into bob or goyf turn two - then on turn 3 you can disrupt their mana with Ass trophy, Field of Ruin or Fulminator mage (post board). Also, worth to note that fulminator mage is still (IMO) the best card we have against them. The game is likely to go for 6+ turns - which means that without actual land destruction it is too easy for them to simply cast a wurmcoil engine, even without tron. We've gained way more ways to disrupt them than in the past, but we just need to be sure to kill them while disrupting them.
Amulet titan is a weird beast - I've won many games against them by landing fulminator turn 3 on the play killing a double land (effectively setting them back 2 turns). The main recipe here is still the same though - except you need to get the dorks and amulets off the table, and your fields and ass trophies get better here as killing a bounce land is not "just" trading land drops but are actually setting them back a turn.
Went 2-1 at my LGS's Tuesday night Modern event, there were only 6 of us tonight, prolly cause most people are still worn out from the weekend's GP. I won 2-0 against Mono-Red Phoenix, 2-1 against Burn, and lost 0-2 against Red Prison.
Red Prison was a weird matchup, partially because he thought I was favored, but also because I also play Red Prison but was unable to perform well...prolly cause I'm still a noob at the Rock xD. Also him getting out a Chandra, Torch of Defiance on the first turn of the second game kinda was hard to deal with. Couldn't smack her before she ult'd. D:
Mercifully did not have to play my buddy's Amulet Titan, but wish I could've gotten some more games in against a bigger variety of decks. Really enjoying the Rock though, people seemed surprised at how well I did against burn.

One thing I do not like about my bellow rock is how vunerable it is to gravyeard hate. While at the same time not really using the gravyeard all that much.
Goyf, Ooze, Liliane of the Last hope, traverse the ulvenwalden do not like seing rest in piece etc. I feel a lot of decks are packing A+ gravyeard hate because of the meta.
Is it possible to buid the deck so the gravyeard is not quite such a problem?

I have dyslexia, no I am not going to spell check for you, yes you have to live with the horrors of it.
@VidarThor : you say it, we don't use the graveyard too much and we have trophy to destroy rest in peace. I think we just don't care of graveyard hate but we have to be careful. By example, i think spirits board in rest in peace against BGX is a bad idea but a lot of people do it so i board out at least 2 goyf and often 4. Liliana the last hope is still good with a rest in peace on board.
