I play two blood moons in the main and I have hazoret the fervent in one of my flex slots. I am also trying out a Night’s whisper over manamorphose. Hasn’t really come up yet so I’m going to leave it in for a bit longer. On the topic of blood moon: I still like them. If they aren’t relevant you can discard them. Otherwise they can still put a strain on the opponents mana.

Little angel, go away come again some other day the Devil has my ear today I'll never hear a word you say. He promised I would find a little solace and some peace of mind. Whatever. just as long as I don't feel so desperate and ravenous.
Probably not enough more basics to matter to us, but more and more Blood Moon is less of a freebie than it used to be.
UW control can/does fetch basics pretty aggressively, so it mostly shuts down Colonnade until they land Teferi or Cryptic bounce it (plus, if they run EE it gives them a 3rd color to pop BM with). Burn doesn't really care that much about it - an experienced Burn pilot will dump their RW spells first and save their R/RR spells if they suspect Blood Moon. It slows down Tron, but slowing Tron down isn't enough without board pressure. Spirits and Humans have Hierarch/Vial, so it really hasn't helped me much in those match ups either.
The match-ups I've personally seen Blood Moon still shine are GDS for the greedy mana base and Affinity for the man lands, but I've encountered fewer of these (paper) over the last few months.

I'm thinking about using Discovery // Dispersal in the place of Night's Whisper. I think this will help with card selection and also help fill graveyard to help push out a faster Bedlam Reveler. With the rise of burn I just don't think Night's Whisper is a great choice at the moment. I myself have also cut the 2x Blood Moon from my local meta. I found myself side-boarding them out almost every game.
Just curious as to when a Young Pyromancer trigger is considered "missed". My understandingof triggers is that as long as you don't change phases or move the game along in a relevant way, the trigger is assumed and you can still acknowledge it. Suppose you cast any spell with a pyromancer in play, your opponent responds, then you acknowledge the trigger, is it considered missed? What are your experiences with acknowledging the trigger not at the exact moment you cast the spell?
I announce my triggers immediately so I don’t forget. I’m not sure when a trigger like pyro’s would be considered miss but I’d imagine once the spell resolves it would be considered missed. Hopefully, someone who knows will post the official ruling.

The decks popularity dropped because people want to try out Assassin's Trophy in the BGx midrange decks. Doesn't mean Mardu isn't good anymore, just a new flavor of midrange for the foreseeable future.
Regarding the triggers, I'm not a judge but here is some nifty site I found regarding the topic. My interpretation is that once the spell resolves, Young Pyromancer's trigger is missed. It's probably best to get into the habit of casting a spell, announcing the trigger.
2-1 on Saturday night. Lost 0-2 to jeskai miracles. Defeated Jund 2-0 and 8 whack 2-1. Couldn’t seem to draw anything of use against jeskai. Also, turn 1 thoughtseize to see jace, teferi and banslayer with 4 lands. Take jace and don’t draw anything of any relavence. Probably need to mull more aggressively against decks like that.

maybe this deck needs to be changed a little for the meta right now. feel it's way to slow, either it can't keep up with the fast decks or either it get's outgrinded by uw control.
what do you guys think about adding some arclight phoenixes along with manamorphoses? i know this thought isn't new, but it could maybe replace the slower removal spells like dreadbore/terminate and the likes. it should speed up the deck and make it able to race much better, one of it's weak points have always been the slow clock. and manamorphose synergizes very well with the other creatures - bedlam and young pyro.
i just don't know then if thoughtseize and inquisition have a place in a deck like this? i'm not that good with deckbuilding : p and i don't know if the discard outlets for arclight is really there with usually 4 faithless looting and around 2 brutality. maybe one should add more? and then, why not run e.g. bloodghast. and then maybe it's just a worse version of hollow one...
If you remove discard and add arclight, you might as well change the entire deck to be like the Runaway Red lists that have popped up lately.
The discard suite is a large part of what makes Mardu Pyro what it is - the grindiest of the Black midrange decks. Without that, our disruptive strategy goes away so you need to retool the overall deck.
Yeah, the runaway red lists are much different than Pyro. I think Arclight Phoenix doesn't have much of a place in the deck and Steam-Kin requires too much commitment to red spells to really be consistent (given that a lot of our one-mana spells are black.) But perhaps testing would prove otherwise.
first, i want to say that you are probably right : ) as i said i'm not very good with deckbuilding.
but why "can't" i play discard and cards like arclight phoenix? is it because the nature of discard is grindy and slow and arclight is fast and explosive? discard is a sorcery and helps ressurect arclight, and i can see arclight aiding in a grindy deck as it's recursive but it also adds some explosiveness that people always have complained about in mardu. to show what i mean i have a decklist down below:
in my head this should work as i go down on some slow removal like dreadbore/terminate and one kolaghans, bloodmoons, no 1 ofs. adding manamorphose should synergize extremely well with all our 12 creatures.
would just like to hear thoughts on why/why not this would work!
My two cents... Typically, I personally view the discard as a turn 1-2 play in this deck. You're either stalling their game plan or hitting their removal to protect your threats. Later in the game, usually the only discard I want to see if Thoughtseize since it's better than Inquisition at that point. That leaves you more likely to have your hand full of 2 drops (peezy, brutality) or 3 drops (k command, souls). Manamorphose doesn't really impress me all that much - sure there's the chance you'll draw into another manamorphose but it ends up being really bad if you're hell/heckbent and you draw into a land. Also, drawing into a Reveler or Pyromancer doesn't help you with Phoenix.
Also, with the Dredge menance getting more and more popular, I don't think it's wise for us to be over-reliant on the GY. Bedlam Reveler becomes a brick if they hit Spellbomb/Leyline/RIP. Lingering Souls + Looting get exiled away. Arclight is another one that falls into this rut.
I do think Arclight has potential to be good in burn oriented decks. Gutshot/Spike/Bolt/Looting/Fiery Temper (off of looting) all can accelerate it out better and use it to close the game faster than a midrange shell can.
I am just picking this deck up for the first time. There are a lot of different lists out there and to me it feels like there is no "Stock" list, is that correct?
I do not have a sideboard laid out as of now. I figure i want some number of Molten Rains, Surgicals and maybe Nihil Spellbombs? I am really not sure what to do here because i am not used to playing "fair" midrange decks.
What is the argument for Trumpet Blast over, say, Rally the Peasants or Scourge Devil? Both can be pitched to looting if they are currently dead and be played again.
To be fair i have no actual experience with the deck yet.
However requiring white does not seem like that big of an issue as you need it anyway for Lingering Souls?
My problem with Trumpet Blast is just that you have to keep a "dead" card in hand and have no access to it when you discard it. Rally is something your opponent has to play around, it is fodder for Reveler, pitchable to Faithless Looting.
Personally, if i played either of these cards it would be Rally. The upsides outweigh the downsides by a lot imo.
Path to Exile and Blood Moon is a non-bo. Besides, between Lightning Bolt and Fatal Push we have a good suite on one-drop interaction. Maybe if you dropped the Moon, but I dont know if that's correct.
Does the deck really need an anthem effect? Going wide is probably enough to close out a game and if you feel like you need a anthem, why not run a permanent buff instead of a single turn?
Risk Factor seems okay, but what would the deck remove to make room for it? The deck already runs Faithless Looting and Bedlam Revealer for card draw, do we need another effect? Maybe a one-of for testing? I dont think it will help you if your behind as your opponent can deny the card draw and if your ahead it just seems to not matter more than the other options. I'd be interested in hearing other peoples thoughts on this card or how it's worked in their testing.
It was not. It was in reference to the poster. I was just applying a similar logic to our deck, since BM serves a similar purpose in our list.

It might be too cute, but 8 damage or 4 damage and draw 3 cards or draw 6 cards seems pretty powerful especially since it's an instant.
