Had a first successful FNM with Grixis DS, went 4-1.
Lost to Elves 0-2
Won against Jund 2-0
Won against Elves 2-0
Won against Dredgevine 2-0
Won against Burn 2-1
Felt really smooth and Opt was a good card apparantly.
I want to try a 3/3 split of Opt and Visions next time.
Had a mirror matchup today and lost pretty hard. I am curious, whats the concesus on what to board out in that matchup?
I chose to board to max out on tempo, cutting Denials, Swamp and IOK. My opponent cut all discard and chose to run the controlish way (bringin in more cards that trade 2-for-1)
I am pretty sure my sideboarding was wrong, but am not on cutting discard either. Whats your way to approach the mirror?
Hey, all. Grixis Delver was my favorite deck (possibly that I've ever played) back before the Probe ban. Is Death's Shadow similar to Delver in playstyle? It seems like it, with cheap threats and disruption. One difference seems Devler's use of tempo over straight disruption (Remand vs discard).
Can someone help me with the matchup vs burn?
How do you usually play against it?
I sideboard out street wraith and brutallity in, also flashfreeze and a negate. And didn't see any of them and lost the other day 2-1.
The match that I won, I thoughtseized, inquisition and snapcaster inquisition.
The last match, on the draw (that I lost) I kept a hand something like: snapcaster, denial, denial and two lands. And got a beating. Should I be mulliganing for the discard or the cards that I sideboarded in?
Can someone give me their insight on this?

My approach to the matchup is similarish to that of your oponent and so far all of my mirror oponents have done the same:
I board out all my street wraiths aswell as a fatal push (since I am bringing in other, less narrow removal) and fill my deck with midrange bombs like both Lilianas.
Currently I also cut the K-Commands vs Esper Shadow in favor of Nihil spellbombs but I am not sure how good that is.
The basic Idea is that, since the deck is filled to the brim with very efficient removal and disruption it is highly unlikely you will be able to overrun / outtempo your oponent. Instead the game almost allways turns into a huge grind fest so you want to sideboard accordingly.
One of my friends, the resident spike of out community that also has multiple high profile finished under his belt, goes as far as chosing the draw in UBx Shadow mirror every time.
I´ve recently started to use his advice and so far, against all my instincts, I think it might actually be the right choice
In that case tough, if its a grindfest, cutting discard might be the best way I feel. I wouldn't cut Street Wraiths then, because a) usually the person wins which DS are bigger and b) SWs are huge threats to actually hardcast in a longer game (I played Jund DS a while ago and SWs often won me games in the mirror). I think cutting discard seems good in that scenario then (they are miserable topdecks).

Don't dmg yourself and build up your board with delve creatures. If they burn you down consistantly, drop your DS and win. Basically Burn should collect their Burn spells and win within one turn. But thats where counters and discard help a lot. I would just try to find an early delve threat and discard their paths to not be able to deal with it and then preserve life totals as much as possible and remove all threats they have. Burn is not that hard in my experience.
I think some number of Stubborn Denials should stay in. My inclination says that 2 is about the sweet spot. At 4 sometimes the card can just clog your hand and when you cut them completely there's scenarios when you may need then instead of hand disruption. I used to cut all my discard but I think Thoughtseize is too good of a card in the deck to cut all of them completely. It helps with the race to Shadow life (esp if you take out wraiths) and can hit creatures which is a downside of Denial. I think the best cards to side out are Street Wraiths (some people like to take all of these out but don't forget you can hard cast these in the mirror and they're unblockable), IOK's and a Denial. Depending on how much you value disruption and Wraiths you could also take out Sleght/Opt/Bolts though I like to keep bolts in for the mirror when I play them. Since the draws tend to dictate how you play out your part in the matchup I like to be set up on both fronts for either end.

Okay I'll focus more on getting the delve creatures in.
Any sideboard cards that are good vs burn and other midrange decks?
I run 3 denial mainboard (mostly because of burn) and 1 extra in the side. Don't know if this is right or if I should just play 2 main and 2 sideboard.
I really like the card.
One question that crossed my mind, how many of you are running lightning bolts and versus what is it better against?
I'm currently playing one bolt and thinking on playing more, they might help against some matchups like burn, aggro decks, jeskai control and grixis shadow mirror.
Opinions?

Don't know what you would cut for it. I personally like the extra copies of cantrips in form of Opt better here to draw me fatal push more consistantly which just seems better against Burn and Grixis DS alike.

Bolt is primarily better than the 4th push (or 3rd, depending on your numbers) against 3+ drops that die to bolt. Spell Queller, Reflector Mage, Kitchen Finks, Eternal Witness, Ezuri, Elvish Archdruid, Meerow Reejery, Mirran Crusader especially, 3 mana Thalia, etc. So decks like Elves, CoCo, and hatebears are where you really want to have access to bolt. The ability to randomly burn them out in the Shadow mirror is nice, but having another removal spell that actually kills important creatures is probably better.
I was thinking of replacing 1x Watery Grave or 1x Flooded Strand 1x thoughtscour and 1x street wraith with 1 extra bolt and 2 opt.
Running 18 lands and 6 cantrips and two bolts.
Or maybe 1x terminate to the sideboard and replace one of those with bolt.

My flooded strand are off color but that's actually okay since most of the time I fetch for a basic island or a shockland.
I really don't like cutting Street Wraith. Seems far too important in the matchups where you need to apply pressure quickly. Same for Thought Scour. Both are important enablers to the deck's core plans.
Flooded Strand can't fetch Blood Crypt, which is a problem.
The only cards that you should cut for bolt if you want to play them are the 2 flex slots. Cutting anything more seems a little loose to me. Opt/Sleight vs. Bolt is more of a meta dependent thing and it's only like 2 slots so don't worry about it too much. I'm currently back on the bolt version and it's been fine.
Also I notice the Shatterstorm in your side. How often are you able to cast the card? I cut anger from my side a while ago because I always hated having to look for double red, but more importantly how consistently are you able to hit 4 mana on 4?
Edit: Just noticed you also have strands. If you are going to run double red spells then I would recommend adding a second Steam Vents for the situations that the only fetches you draw are Strands.

I would run more black fetching lands as replacement for Scalding. I personally run Verdant Catacombs, which is able to fetch for all lands except Steam Vents and basic Island, whereas Flooded Strand wont't fetch for 2 Blood Crypt and 1 Swamp, which is one land more you can't fetch. Therefore I would go with extra black fetches.

Hey! I haven't seen many affinity decks in my lgs, so I haven't actually been able to cast it yet and am considering replacing it for something like rakdos charm. But from my experience with the deck, double red on turn 4 is rough.
Can you share your version with bolts?
Yesterday I was thinking about what to cut for opts and bolts and couldn't come to a conclusion. One of my thoughts was going down to 18 lands, leaving one slot.
The other was kologhan's command, I currently run 2 and I think it's sometimes to slow and awkward when I have two of them in my hand.

Doesn't this build basically fold to a Ghost Quarter?
Just how bad is the matchup against Bant Eldrazi and how do I beat it? Do I just need to hope they never draw Drowner of Hope?
