Even playing 2 is more than 0 like before where we had 9 fetchlands. I play 3 pushes and absolutely play 9 fetchlands.
fair. My list is net-decked from the team unified Modern deck.
Really liked his list so I decided to go with it. The biggest difference is side boarding decisions.
Do you think Dredge has died in popularity enough to make having no gy hate ok?
I think its kinda dangerous going for a team unified decklist when it comes down to 1-vs-1 normal modern matches. Team unified modern restricts decks in their card decisions, thats why cards like feed the clan pop up here, its not played anywhere else. The card has been played in jund in the past, but this was a while ago and I think it is still not a good card to include, especially because of Collective Brutality printing.

I think FlyingDelver is spot on with that mana base, It's exactly what I'm playing with except I'm messing around with a Treetop Village over a Raging Ravine and a 3/1 Split of Cliffs to Marsh as I'm on the Fatal Push plan. I actually think Dredge has been picking up in popularity recently because of it's matchup with DS decks, but the biggest GY based strategies to watch for in the near future will be Abzan Company and Living End. Company has the new combo and I've seen new lists that can win multiple ways instead of getting completely hosed. Living End just got a ton of new toys and seems to be picking up online and in paper. I think it's one of the most underrated decks in Modern right now but we'll see what happens in the month before Vegas. I would never have less than two GY hate cards in my SB at any time. I approach my weekly Modern events with the mentality that I have a 75 that could compete in a larger event. For example, if my local event had 15 people with six Burn players, I wouldn't shove 8 life gain cards into my sideboard because that wouldn't help me improve my competitive play, it would just help me win my weekly event, and that's not really the goal I'm going for. On top of the two decks I mentioned, both Grixis and Jund Death's Shadow utilize the GY and Storm is now Tier 1, so cut GY at your own risk!
I agree with that, GY hate is what I would absolutely play, 2 copies seem ok. I like Spellbomb most for its versatility. YOu can even bring it in in attrition based matchups because it replaces itself.
I would not play Feed the clan and play at least 2 CB in your 75. Ancient Grudge is also arguable whether you want 2, I personally think 1 is enough right now. Huntmaster doesn't seem like a sideboard card to me, if you want more grindy creatures play more finks or something like Olivia. If you play 3 Fulminators I think you should include 2 Surgicals for Tron. And for extra GY hate (now depending on your meta) you can add spellbombs. Would look like this:
I will play tomorrow at a bigger tournament (6 rounds), we'll see what will be played
Gus
So I went to a Win-a-box tournament yesterday with the exact same list than previous, here are my results :
Game 1 vs GR Tron : 2-0
Game 2 vs Baral Storm : 1-2
(I lost the last one on a miscalculation, I had a two turn clock between Goyf, Ooze and Bolt and I used the Bolt to kill Baral instead of an other removal ... of course he killed me the turn I should won)
Game 3 vs UW Control : 2-0
Game 4 vs Grixis Death Shadow : 1-2
Game 5 vs UW Control : 2-1
(My opponent was at 7 pts whereas I was at 6 so I let him win the game for a potential Top8 whereas I couldn't do it)
Because I'm preparing GP Copenhguen the next 27th May, I talk about my list with some of my friends and relevant players and everybody accorded on the same statements :
* Olivia Voldaren is too slow in the actual meta
* In Day 2, there will have tons of Tron and Valakut (which are popular in Europe) and some control' decks to deal with DS
* Land destruction is really well positioned
So I'll cut my Olivia for the 4th Fulminator Mage, just like Jaberwocki does.
I've been seeing Thundermaw Hellkite more frequently lately, what do we think about it? Pure meta call or it desearves a slot or two.
Also, yesterday I played on a 20ish event with a very poor result, but it were mostly because my missplay..I've played with Chandra ToD for the first time and I love it. She's the real deal for Jund. I'm playing with two 4 drop, in form of Kalitas and Chandra...and this combination were good enough for me.
I've tested Thundermaw Hellkite and I was disappointed because he never broke the game.
* An experienced Junk or Death Shadow Player will play Lingering Souls 2 by 2 instead of filling the board with creatures so you will kill just 2 tokens when your Dragon arrives in play.
* An experienced Junk player will play Gideon for his -4 and finish you with his bigger Tarmogoyf, Siege Rhino and LS 2/2.
* It may die on a simple Path to Exile.
I've tested Stormbreath Dragon too, I prefered him against Death Shadow and Junk (PtE / FP and Decay-proof) but again, a little expensive to cast and not perfect with Bob's trigger.
That's just my opinion and I love those 2 cards but it doesn't fit well in our pack.
Death's Shadow is barely a problem for me. I'm not even sure why that deck is a consideration for Jund in general. As far as Junk, whoever maintains a board presence first usually has the upper hand. So if they want to -4 a Gideon, Ally of Zendikar immediately after playing it, I'm all for it. I'm either already losing and it's a "win more" deal or I don't care.
I don't need to beat the entirety of a Lingering Souls card on one Thundermaw drop. Half of the tokens is good enough for me as long as I can keep applying pressure. Olivia Voldaren also fits in the same slot, but I do love creatures with haste. I mean why else would we bother playing Thundermaw otherwise? Kill a couple tokens and block later? That doesn't make sense.
EDIT: Not to mention, most players will flashback Lingering Souls so Scavenging Ooze doesn't eat it.
I also think playing gideon and -4 it right away seems totally fine with me. If the opponent had board control that doesn't change much, and if the opponent didn't have anything its just a 4 mana spend for nothing basically.
If you can't Support delirium then I don't like Flayer at all. In a delirium based shell with traverses and baubles is the only shell i could see him running, which is not really a consideration for jund.
I've been playing Jund for a month or two now and side events at GP Bologna were my first larger tournaments with it. I attended three, two of them being a "Super" Modern with competitive REL, and somehow managed to top8 (top4) both of them. I wrote a relatively longer blog post (report), you are welcome to read it. Here is what I sleeved for the Super Modern on Day 2.
Has Grixis has taken over Jund's role as the premier BR strategy? Is the BG strategy Abzan better than Jund? Has Jund has merged permanently into DSJ?
Tradional Jund is Tier 2 now, coz it seems it's not the optimal build. No results have been put up lately with the deck.
Yes..I know it has been around for ages, but does it seems pointless to optimise a deck which looks sub-optimal in the first place?
Jund is dead, long live the King?
I don't think jund is dead, I think jund is a way of life. What I mean by that is I personally prefer how jund plays then death's shadow jund and I played a good amount of death's shadow decks I just don't feel it. I own all the cards for both jund and abzan but I just can't quit kolaghan's command. I'm sure that you have herd this a million times but modern is a format where you pick a deck and master it. I have one guy at My Lgs that just plays skred day in And day out and he is a master of that deck.
Also as a side not I have noticed that jund and abzan have been jockeying for the same space on mtggoldfish... Abzan usually takes over lol.

Jund is not dead. Current "tier" structure is based heavily on meta representation.
Although it is true Jund has fallen out of favor.. this isn't necessarily because it is no longer viable.
Jund did top 8 the team event. That list is spicy
I could be highly biased as I just built Jund about a month ago... but so far even against my "bad matchups" I don't feel like it is worse than 60-40. Ever. I loose more matches now to misplays and sideboard errors then anything at the moment.

If you fear dredge, however, then I would absolutely play Anger of the Gods. ALso is great vs Abzan CoCo decks and Elves.

How's that going for you? Is she in the main for testing purposes or coming out of the board?
