This list has some serious fundamental issues. I think his skills carry him through the bad deck building for this list, his mana source is a mess. Jadine played 3 treetops and cut back on red spells. 6 Man lands is crazy greedy
That's a silly looking list. No Terminate, no Decay. The manabase is highly suspect too. Have fun drawing double Twilight Mire, and a Mountain in your opener. Owen you silly.
Five mono-green sources seems bad even disregarding the ETB tapped problem. It must be to accommodate those that he chose to run two Twilight Mire. T3 Lili seems like a stretch too, with only 16 sources for B, and six T3 taplands. I feel like the curve in that build is just always gonna struggle.
OTOH the more I play of Scooze, the better I like it and the more green mana I want. I would not go below three in the maindeck, personally. Makes me think about ditching my basic Mountain for a Treetop--right now I only have the three Ravines in my 24-land build.
Round 1: Against 4c Pyromancer (similar to Decandio's list). Lost that 1-2. Its a matchup where we are behind ultimatively. Game 1 I ripped my opponent's hand apart and deployed a goyf which my opponent wasnt able to remove. His hand was a clunky leftover of uncastable BBEs and Revelers when I killed him. Game 2 I got overrung by Reveler CA, alongside Souls Tokens. It was insane CA from him. At the end of game 2 I had a total balance of 9 action spells and 15 lands drawn. I was quite flooded I gotta say. Game 3 was way more balanced, we both deployed threats and removed each other's threats. Ultimately a Young Peezy stuck on my opponents board and buried me in Tokens. I think the loss was probably on me, since I did not respect Young Peezy Tokens or Souls Tokens enough. I valued Fulminator more and brought them in over EE and Charm, which was definitely a mistake. 4c is susceptible to Fulminator, but removal for their tokens is still more important.
Round 2: Against Burn, which I won easily 2-0. With 2 Finks, 2 CB and 4 IOK I don't fear Burn at all. I dismantled my opponent so hard in both games, it never felt better to Jund someone out honestly. Both games were Turn 1 IOK into Goyf. I had Ooze in one game and had LoTV in the other one. Never drew Finks or CB, but apparently it didn't matter.
Round 3:Against Bogles, won 2-1. Thats the matchup I expected and which I prepared for, my EE, my Charm and 2 Pulses really pulled their weight here. In game I deployed a Goyf (5/6) and a Bob and was facing one bogle attacking me for 4 dmg a turn. I snapped the game by playing BBE, cascading into KCommand, dealing 2 dmg to my opponent, then swong for 10 dmg and finishing him off with a Bolt, as he was on 15 life. In one postboard game I had both EE and Charm in hand, which gave me the luxury to decide whether I want to destroy an opposing RIP from my opponent to make my Goyf bigger again. Ended up not doing it though.
Round 4:Against Elves, won 2-1. Straightforward, won 2 games just doing the Jund thing. I was caught offguard one time as my opponent catched me with an Westvale Abbey which I did not expect. Would have needed to hold up Terminate isntead of deploying Goyf.
Round 5:Against Bogles, won 2-0. Very quick games, in game one I dismanetled him with discard and LoTV. In game 2 I deployed Goyf + Bob while being under Leyline, my opponent build up a huge Bogle, but Pulse let me destroy Leyline and then LoTV made the rest.
All in all I am pretty happy with the spellsuite, but am not sure about the manabase. Today was definitely weird in that sense, that I either flooded very hard, or was stuck on 2 or 3 lands. Only few games played out perfectly. Feel that this needs further testing for a clearer picture.
Round 4:Against Elves, won 2-1. Straightforward, won 2 games just doing the Jund thing. I was caught offguard one time as my opponent catched me with an Westvale Abbey which I did not expect. Would have needed to hold up Terminate isntead of deploying Goyf.

Hi guys! New to Jund and was looking for some advice on tweaking my current list. I have been happy so far in my testing online but will be looking to take the deck to my LGS soon. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!
Playing a local paper league, it's 15 rounds (round robin) plus a top 8. I'm currently 7-0 with it. Figured I would write this at the halfway point since my schedule prevents me from finishing my games for the next week, and I don't want to forget some match details.
Here's my list... it's pretty weird, but there was stuff I wanted to try, and metagame considerations I wanted to account for.
Round 1 - Vengevine (2-0). I don't remember much about this, except that in G2 I baited my opponents Lightning Bolt with a T2 Bob, untapped into T3 Glissa, and my opponent was never able to kill it. Plus I had a Spellbomb in hand so I started recuring it for a card per turn.
Round 2 - Zoo (2-0). Took out Goyf's in G2 expecting hate based on the number of cards my opponent was taking in/out (we have each others decklists). Hunch paid off as they had a T0 Leyline. Glissa stabilized the board, then Liliana took over.
Round 3 - Soul Sisters (2-1). Lost G1 to a Spectral Procession I wasn't able to answer as I drew only 1 removal spell all game (despite a live Bob for 8 turns). The anti Lingering Souls plan is pretty good against Procession though and I actually drew properly in the following games. Treetop Village gets an MVP here for letting me keep the board clear while interacting each turn.
Round 4 - Storm (2-0). Shredded the hand, Duress was real good to snipe Gifts and Past in Flames. Not much else to say about this match, it feels like a bye honestly.
Round 5 - D&T (2-0). Opponent was on a variant splashing red. He conceded game 1 super early because his opening hand was Field of Ruin, Aether Vial, Lightning Bolt, Blade Splicer, Blade Splicer, Flickerwisp, Restoration Anel. I went first and opened on fetch, thoughtseize, take vial followed by a T2 Goyf while he missed his land drop. Game 2 was more of a grind fest. I got to loop Engineered Explosives with Glissa and extract a ton of value out of both a Liliana of the Veil and a Chandra. Most of my value ended up going into topdecking lands, but the game ended with me up by something like 12 cards. Just for style points I ended it with a Chandra ultimate into triple Bolt (I had a back up win in hand if that didn't work). The deck has some absurd lines.
Round 6 - Goblins (2-0). Not much to say here, my opponents deck just wasn't functional.
Round 7 - Ponza (2-1). Lost a very close game 1 where I was trying to operate on 1-2 land per turn with double bob on the field. Eventually I trade off the Bobs into blocking Tireless Trackers. I needed my opponent to brick for one turn so I could untap and play a Collective Brutality in hand for a ping to kill them through an active Blood Moon. They hit the 4th Stone Rain of the match though and took out my Swamp. The game went for another 10+ turns past that but I was never able to do anything else and eventually lost to the ETB of an Inferno Titan. Games 2 and 3 went much better for me. In game 3 in particular I was able to loop Fulminator Mage several times and keep my opponent constrained to 2 mana for the majority of the game while game 2 was discard heavy. Despise took a Nissa, Duress got a Blood Moon, and so on.
So overall the decks working great. I know it's a few cards off from the traditional lists but it's working very well. The discard suite has been spot on, removal has been versatile, land drops are consistent, no colored mana issues, and it feels like I always have threats. Even the 5 basic plan has saved me a lot of life.
And then you see that most of the lists putting up results are on 25, then you start to wonder.
I wouldn't put too much stock in that, better players are going to top more often and there's so much variance with such small sample sizes that you can't really draw any conclusions from what people are doing well with other than to say that those are the cards that are popular.
And perhaps the 1 and 3 msns polarization is smart.
Curve is extremely important. The number of lands is pretty insignificant compared to having a good curve. The 1-3 thing is mostly based on the idea of having a hole in your curve on T2 so that you can go land, 1, tap land, 1, land, 3, land, 4. While that's a functional curve I'm not sure if that's the best way to go. Everything in moderation seems to be a good mantra here.
I ran into a GW taxes deck running maindeck loxodons, maindeck crusaders and sideboard auriok champions. Amused by so much targetted hate at the moment.
Beat him though, Bob drew me into endless varied removal. Golgari charm into Thalia and 2 auriok champions rocked his boat.
Round 4:Against Elves, won 2-1. Straightforward, won 2 games just doing the Jund thing. I was caught offguard one time as my opponent catched me with an Westvale Abbey which I did not expect. Would have needed to hold up Terminate isntead of deploying Goyf.
if it was a flipped Westvale Abbey your only out would have been liliana. so no misplay
Well, actually Westvale Abbey was on the BF and he needed to draw the 5th creature, and if I did hold up Terminate I could have killed a creature in response to the 5th creature which he topdecked. It was a classic case of RTFC
Hi guys! New to Jund and was looking for some advice on tweaking my current list. I have been happy so far in my testing online but will be looking to take the deck to my LGS soon. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!
Matches and sideboarding:
2-1 Mono Green Land Destruction
Bob singlehandedly won me this match. Game 3, I'm down to 2 lands with a 5/5 Ooze and Bob against an overwhelming board. He was down to 3 and Bob revealed Bolt and I ripped the fetch on top to get red and win.
-2 Kolaghan's Command
+2 Collective Brutality
I miss Abrupt Decay. Multiple Sprawls is a beating. In hindsight, I should have brought in EE and Back to Nature maybe but I don't know what to cut.
2-1 Gwb Elves
Lost game 1 trying to stablize. He has an Archdruid and a Mystic. I killed the Archdruid and he CoCo in response revealing another Archdruid and Ezuri. It was downhill from there. Jund him out game 2 and 3 with LoTH and Lavaman.
2-0 UR Gifts Storm
Discard into Ooze and Bloodbraid game 1. He misplayed game 2 with 11 Storm count, he casted 3 Piece to Puzzle trying to find Past in Flames which was already in the yard. He discarded it earlier to Lily and forgot it's there. Hit me with Grapeshot for 12. I untap and exiled Past in Flames with Ooze and attacked along with with 2 Goyfs.
I'm not sure if cutting BBE is correct but I certainly don't feel good tapping out on turn 4.
ID UR Gifts Storm
Decided to split but played a friendly game which I lost 0-2. Game 1 was close. Opened with 2 discard removing a ritual and Manamorphose. He was left with a hand of Grapeshot and Noxious Revival. I played Ooze and he Grapeshot it. I played BBE into LotH nex turn returning Ooze. He gifts end of turn. I Binned the second Grapeshot and another ritual with 3 open green mana. I tried to exile the 2 Grapeshots to which he responded with Noxious on the other copy but I did another Ooze activation in response leaving me tapped out. He played Baral on his turn with Past in Flames on hand and comboed off.
Game 2, I mulled down to 4 trying to find interaction. Kept a hand of 3 lands with LoTV. Couldn't do anything else. He sided out all bears for Pyromancer's Ascension and stormed off.
The list is similar to Jadine minus the Abrupt Decays. 25 land was okay. Treetop didn't really shined in my matchups today but it was so good in my testing against other fair decks and Tron as it is good in answering planeswalker. 2 is probably the correct number as it can really be clunky sometimes when drawn in multiples in the opening hand and is worse with color fixing.
Moving forward, I'll try Delver's list with 24 lands and try to squeeze at least a single copy of Abrupt Decay and a 3rd Ooze. Ponza style decks are gaining popularity in my LGS due to its good showing lately and being cheap. Abrupt Decay comes handy against Sprawls and Blood Moon. Scooze was impressive. Reid said he feels like getting away from murder with an unchecked Ooze and I agree. It provides so much utility in the deck. Appreciate any advice and feebacks. Thank you guys!
My sideboard also needs adjustments. No graveyard hate got me punished against Storm. Did't get to cast Surgical, it was mainly there for Tron but the card is just so hard to setup. even against Storm unless you get to discard their payoff cards. I'll try 2 Nihil Spellbomb and 1 Cage next time.
Thanks Delver. I'm gonna give it a shot. I will post my results here. Also, I was wondering if you had any plans to add additional matchups under the sideboard guide? Like maybe Colorless Eldrazi, Bant spirits, Faeries, Grishoalbrand etc. My meta tends to be wide open at my LGS.
Has anyone tried grim flayer with BBE to help manipulate cascade triggers for more vaule? I have been debating on finding a way to find a spot for a couple of them. So was wondering if we could manipulate the top cards enough to get more guaranteed vaule out of BBE.

The value you potentially gain by manipulating the top of your library is nullified by the inconsistancy of grim flayer itself.
I find grim flayer very weak and unreliable without support, therefore this is not for me.
With Storm and Hollow One being quite present I am not a fan of Surgical now. It just doesnt do enough in real gy based decks. Surgical is basically the bare minimum you can bring in but alone it isnt enough. The win percentage you get against tron dont outweigh the win percentage you loose against hollow one and every other gy based deck. Go for spellbombs and cages totally, this is not the time for surgicals.
I will add them gradually, right now I am busy working on a decklist template and sideboard template update.

A new keep and mull poll post for everyone interested. We got 5 hands, and 2 questions for each hand (either keep or mull). Pls only vote once for each hand, to be able to have accurate results. Here are the hands and situations:
Hand #1: Against Burn, otp, G2: 1 Swamp, 1 Forest, 1 Blackcleave Cliffs, 1 Goyf, 1 Liliana of the Veil, 1 Abrupt Decay, 1 Terminate.
Hand #2: Against Unknown, G1, otp: 1 Verdant Catacombs, 1 Bloodstained Mire, 1 Ravine, 1 Blackcleave Cliffs, 3 BBE.
Hi, i think you missed an important information on pre board/postboard games. In my lokal meta, but also in larger tournaments (~100 Players) i walk around and look at the decks other players play and try to remenber, so i know game one what they are playing.
I don't exactly know what you mean by that. What did I miss? Those hands aren't necessarily all hands I had in the context where I placed them in the Keep or Mull.
Overall i think the hands were not boardeline enough and 3 out of 4 Matchups are pretty favorbale for us anyways, but if Hand 3 and Hand 5 were swapped i would mulligan both.
You don't have to participate if you don't find it borderline enough. Why should I only focus on bad matchups? That doesn't make sense if we are talking about general keep or mull decisions here. What you basically say that correct mulliganing is not really important in favourable matchups which is wrong.
It looks like the one people are disagreeing on is hand 4. Bolt and push are awesome against humans, we’re on the draw and we run a bunch of geeen sources. Turns 1 and 2 we want to play bolt and push, so we have 3 draws until we find a green source, and if we draw a Bob, terminate, lily, or K. Command we want to play that turn 3 over goyf anyway. I’d keep this hand.
This list has some serious fundamental issues. I think his skills carry him through the bad deck building for this list, his mana source is a mess. Jadine played 3 treetops and cut back on red spells. 6 Man lands is crazy greedy
Grixis Death's Shadow, Jund, UW Tron, Jeskai Control, Storm, Counters Company, Eldrazi Tron, Affinity, Living End, Infect, Merfolk, Dredge, Ad Nauseam, Amulet, Bogles, Eldrazi Tron, Mono U Tron, Lantern, Mardu Pyromancer
OTOH the more I play of Scooze, the better I like it and the more green mana I want. I would not go below three in the maindeck, personally. Makes me think about ditching my basic Mountain for a Treetop--right now I only have the three Ravines in my 24-land build.

The value you potentially gain by manipulating the top of your library is nullified by the inconsistancy of grim flayer itself.
I find grim flayer very weak and unreliable without support, therefore this is not for me.
I will add them gradually, right now I am busy working on a decklist template and sideboard template update.

I don't exactly know what you mean by that. What did I miss? Those hands aren't necessarily all hands I had in the context where I placed them in the Keep or Mull.
You don't have to participate if you don't find it borderline enough. Why should I only focus on bad matchups? That doesn't make sense if we are talking about general keep or mull decisions here. What you basically say that correct mulliganing is not really important in favourable matchups which is wrong.
