what do you guys think of 22 land count with 3 birds of paradise. I will enable turn 2 fulminator mage or 2 spell a turn quickly. Back in the day's of jund, we had that setup to Maeltrom pulse early.
I've definitely thought about it, especially after seeing Abzan playing Noble Hierarch and old school GB playing Deathrite Shaman, but I'm obviously not going to be there person to experiment with that because if it worked, I assume people would have done it by now. When it comes down to the core of jund though, the idea is to play the most powerful cards available in BRG, all the "good stuff" cards, and I don't think Birds fits that description.
Could be wrong.

I think Hierarch fits a different role then Birds does. While it helps to mana accelerate, it also allows Abzan to swing their Goyf into an opposing Goyf and make blocks awkward. I could see Birds played, but I believe it would be a bigger Jund then the classic Jund we're used to. Something that aims to play a couple 5 drops, and maybe even a 6 drop if there is one suitable.
Grixis Control is definitely king of topdecks, followed by Junk, Jund is the better deck overall (although not currently), but it is not the top-deck king
Went 4-1 at a $15 32 person tournament and won. Beat Valakut 2-1, Grixis Delver 2-0, Jund Death Shadow 2-1, was the 2nd 3-0 out of 3, but was paired down against a 2-1 Living End player who was 14th and lost 1-2. Beat the only 4-0 on BW Eldrazi Taxes 2-0 to finish 4-1.

Grixis, perhaps. I don't see how Junk is better at topdecking than Jund when we have reach and recursion in Bolt and KCommand.
I think people mistake topdeck power with specific cards here. Both jund and junk have the same amount of great topdecks basically. Its not about a matchup between junk and jund here. We know junk beats jund, but that doesn't mean jund topdecks less often well.
I'm a little partial to Stormbreath because he just ends the game more reliably with protection from Path, and nothing in Abzan can block him. Worst case scenario, you can block a Rhino with him as well, and eventually he gets bigger and possibly finishes off the opponent with direct damage. Have a friend who argues Thundermaw because it comes down and kills Souls, but I see it falling to Path, or getting clogged up by more Souls afterwards where Stormbreath doesn't have those problems. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
Thank you guys, seems like we have the most important cards to cut, forgot 4 drops obviously. Gonna implement this in the primer.
@Gwathnar Good luck to you, Jund 'em out!
Thanks, wish I had a good report but I only won 2 games haha. I'm not very good at side boarding so I've got to do more reading about that.
Other then that I got mana screwed a good bit (constantly drawing mana instead of treats). I played a mirror match against a buddy with Jund and that was pretty funny, any time one of us got a treat out the other answered it - it quickly became a game of draw/go.

Not only that, it's a dumb argument to begin with.
Either way, I think my point still stands. We're good at topdecking. Once we start running Birds, we lose points there in exchange for a more aggressive playstyle.

If the meta is truly full of Abzan, why not run both?
If your meta is full of Abzan, you serious need to reconsider why you're even playing Jund, that's the hard cold truth. If fun and "I enjoy playing it" is your answer, that's fine. Just understand you're knowingly playing into bad matchups

A bad match is Tron. We are only slightly unfavored against Abzan. Depending on your sideboard, it can be slightly less unfavorable.

So far it's definitely been a learning experience after about two weeks of playing GBx. I mostly played Jund this week on MODO and even though I've lost my fair share of games it never felt like I never had a chance. It's frustrating not being able to find a hate card after mulliganing or not top decking it right when you need it but it comes with the territory. The feeling of winning by Junding them out feels great though. I'm still going back and forth between Junk and Jund but I don't enjoy playing Death's Shadow Jund at all. I haven't touched in since about a week ago and may not for a while. I know it's mostly because I can't get the sequencing down and I end up overextending but I'm still enjoying the midrange style a lot more. Since I'm invested in the deck though I'm now noticing the "Jund is dead" hype that is going around. It can get kind of stupid because unfortunately the modern community loves it's hyperbole, salt and hype but it's a nice feeling not worrying about a target on your back because of whichever card that may get hit with the axe in the coming months or years.
