Boarding up to four engineered explosives in tandem with maindeck spellskite and displacer makes your infect and deaths shadow matchups fine, and you even have worship for deaths shadow. Chalice is very significantly worse against affinity and suicide blue than engineered explosives. I could see wanting them against burn, but that matchup is already winnable with racing, spellskite, and wor
I don't play any counterspells - so id cut the counters for Chalice personally. Another option is to play some 'sideboard' cards maindeck to open up more sb slots. I play 3x Engineered Explosives maindeck - I understand that this is probably too many for some ppl's taste though..
Without any counterspells I don't see how you are ever beating any of the big mana decks. I also play in a meta with above average valakut and r/x control decks like Mardu nahiri and ponza so YMMV
But if you really want to beat Valakut, there are better answers than counterspells. Stubborn also is a dead card against Primetime. Search hate, like aven mindcensor, mindlock orb, leonin arbiter, etc are all very good. Going even deeper, Nevermore is possibly even an option

Lets be honest - all the decks you mention are absolute beatings for Eldrazi - it doesn't really matter how you sideboard (or how many counterspells you play) you are are going to get crushed - id play something else if I was playing against land destruction, blood moons and PWs decks all day long..In a warped meta like that id play Burn or something similar. Its no wonder you havent seen the utility of Chalice - if you play in a more normal meta - believe me you will see the power of Chalice..
However, the cards whyjesse mention are all things to consider.
Against Valakut deck/Tron deck metas I was running 3 GQ and 3 Surgical extractions. A couple of counterspells like the ones in your sb arent going to save you against Valakut or Tron. Having said that I think Flashfreeze is your best option - it hits everything in Valakut from Bolt to anger to PrimeTime to Shift - hits everything in Ponza (EE is very good against Ponza by the way) and hits some stuff in Mardu (nahiri, anger, terminate, bolt etc). Sure it doesnt work against Tron but you cant have everything..Chalice on 1 against Tron is pretty good..
Flashfreeze doesn't counter wrath of God and is as good at countering nahiri as anything else, and wrath is literally the point of bringing in counterspells against nahiri. Flashfreeze is equal or worse than disdainful in basically every scenario except blood moon, where you can start leaving up 2 mana on turn two forwards, and terminate, where you don't bring in flashfreeze against terminate decks.

Play stroke if you want. I prefer Flashfreeze as it hits cards in popular Tier 1 decks as well - you can bring it in against Burn, Infect and Dredge to hit conflagrate.
I know we have stirrings but why don't we play serum visions too? I just feel it would give the deck so much better selection and filtering. I'm going to start testing it.
Unless you're playing a RW prison deck, I find supreme verdict to be the more common option for control decks. I also think nahiri and UW strategies are Tier 2 or below atm. Flashfreeze helps against a lot of decks we're weak against, like what other poster mentioned. It also has better applications against Coco decks.
I own a ton of Modern decks, and I want to add a budget-ish version of Bant Eldrazi to my collection. I am following Daniel Hall's 75 from GP Dallas. The only thing I don't have access to and don't feel like buying are 4x Cavern of Souls. What should I run instead? I am thinking 2x Ghost Quarter, 1x Windswept Heath, and 1x Brushland.

What would you cut? Your mana base would likely have to change as well to accommodate the need for early U mana. I'd agree that oath of Nissa would be a better filter card and I wouldn't play Oath personally..

I feel that Cavern of Souls is pretty important and I would be looking to get these. They primarily 'fix' your mana and secondarily provide uncounterability - however - yes - you should be playing 4x Windswept Heath (regardless of cavern). You should also be playing 3 basic lands. You do not need 8 painlands - 6 painlands is plenty..

I honestly haven't even put any thought into the mana base yet. Just pondering the idea.
Guys i have a couple of questions and things to report to you.
1)How are we in matters of Primer progress?.
2)I've been testing 23 lands like Sam, while playing 5 mana dorks. I also recently moved to 1 Reshaper and 1 Drowner for 3 Skyspawners just to see how they felt. The deck feels solid as always, but hands also felt more lean. You certainly flood out sometimes, but nevertheless you mostly find yourself with the exact number of lands and spells.
Right now i would advocate for 23 lands/5 Mana dork configuration.
3)Has someone tried Gideon Ally of Zendikar? What does acomplish in our sideboard?. What about Runed Halo?.

i like the BOP cos it gives us a chump blocker against flyers. have u tried lead the stampede? great card engine. especially when we're flooded.
Here are the followup videos with both decks:
1. http://www.channelfireball.com/videos/channel-pmayne-modern-ug-eldrazi/
Elder Deep-Fiend actually seems pretty good right now and the synergy with a good creature like Kitchen Finks is rather good.
I don't really care for Drowner but losing out on E.Displacer, PtE and the powerfull SB hate is a rather big downside.
2. http://www.channelfireball.com/videos/channel-pmayne-modern-scourge-powder-eldrazi/
I think that Serum Powder isn't worth it and Simian Spirit Guide is just better, otherwise this seems like the best deck to take advantage of Chalice of the Void without any 1,2 drops in the maindeck.
The deck seems really good overall.
And here is another article about the colorless build - http://modernnexus.com/crunch-time-colorless-eldrazi-stompy/
It basically wins you the game vs infect. it's great vs burn. it's reasonable on the play vs affinity.
I would cut 1 worship and move 1 EE to the MB. I wouldn't go all 4 chalices.
