Matchups
RG Valakut (2-1)
Eldrazi Tron (2-1)
BW Eldrazi and Taxes (2-0)
Eldrazi Tron (2-0)
UW Control (2-1)
That 5-0 is impressive. What would you say that are key cards vs eldrazi tron and UW control? I think everyone here would love a brief report of how those matches played out
Two questions for the thread. Why is manglehorn played so much in the sideboard lately? Also, what's the best replacement for hallowed fountain? I'm playing at a team constructed event and my teammate needs the fountain. I've thought about irrigated farmland, but maybe the UW fastland or the 10th fetchland is better.

I think you can afford not to play a Plains-Island Land, because having a Forest and a Hallowed Fountain is not so different from having a Forest and a Temple Garden. You can still cast most of your spells with either of the two combinations, but can't cast Reflector Mage nor Spell Queller.
Has anybody considered changing the Stomping Ground into a Sacred Foundry? Because having a Breeding Pool and Sacred Foundry in play will give us the perfect mana already. UR for Staticaster, GW for VoR, KotR, etc, and GR for Kessig Wolf Run. We'll have to adjust the fetches though, maybe 4 Windswept 3 Flooded Strand, 3 Misty Rainforest.
Vs Eldrazi Tron KOTR is the most important card. He's bigger than anything they can produce. He also finds kessig, gavony and ghost quarter which all have important roles in the matchup. (keeping them off tron early, making your dorks relevant, running them over from chump blocks)
I think hardest thing is post board and having to play around the All is dust. This card can be an absolute beating if you dont have couter magic or a cooc to reload that turn, be aware its an eldrazi tribal spell and can be cast with the eldrazi temples early.
I think the matchup if favourable, unless the get an early unanswered basilisk collar on either the walker or endbringer.
SB:
+2 unified will
+3 reflector mage
+1 manglehorn
-1 selfless spirit
-2 retreat to coralhelm
-2 scavenging ooze
-1 bird of paradise
UW is really hard. I feel like having played alot of durdle control decks has definitely given me an edge whilst playing this matchup. you can afford to sit behind 1 or 2 threats and not do anything for several turns until theyre forced to tap low or out for a verdict or cryptic and then you can company them. Spell queller is very strong but knowing when to counter a supreme verdict or leave it is important (getting you queller instantly pathed feels awful)
Elspeth and gideon are super hard to beat.
SB (unsure about this needs more testing)
+2 negate
+1 nissa
+1 rec sage
+1 izzet staticaster
-1 vizier of menagerie
-2 retreat to coralhelm
-2 birds of paradise
Manglehorn blowing up an artifact is similar to rec sage which was played anyways. but the artifacts enter tapped clause really hates on multiple decks, affinity, tron varients, eggs, lantern etc. its new so I assume people are just testing.
you can play a farmland, i dont think this will hurt percentage points too much as long as you play around it with your early fetches etc.
With regards to Phattrik's question about foundry, not being able to fecth it from 8 of my 9 fetches is why i dont run foundry. The green is far more important i think, when youre casting cards like courser of kruphix.
EDIT: i would probably play a prairie stream over the farmland as it can enter untapped later on
I've been on breeding Pool x 2, temple Garden x 1, and sacred Foundry x 1 it's so much better. Fetches stay the same for the most part because now flooded Strand can actually search up our red mana. You can no longer search for red Mana with misty but lets be honest, the only thing you're fetching with misty is forest and breeding Pool lol.
There was a lit several months ago that played 3 wrath of God and 3 selfless Spirit. If you're having an issue with Elves-sque decks then find more board control. One of the biggest things about kelvins guangzhou list is he hosted 3 izzet Staticaster s and most likely leaving paths strictly for archdruid and ezuri
Hey sorry if this is posted somewhere, is there an agreed upon best way to learn this decks combo? I know in the primer goldfishing is suggested, but anything past that?
Just recently built into the deck and everytime I land the combo I feel like there was a more optimal line to take.
@CausticKorg um, are you referring to the optimal way to kill someone by dumping all ur lands? Or are you talking about the innerplays within the combo you can make? Because if its the latter all I have to say it's super dependent and processing all the lands and mana available alongside tapping and untapping is complicated. If it's how you fetch then it's all about making sure the same amount of forest and plains are available when you begin the combo and then sac all those remaining forests and plains for your utility lands.
How has unified will performed for you vs elder tron? I've always felt weird about bringing it in, seems pretty rough if they land their creatures early and often, but i understand how its huge when they try to land the big big stuff. I've really struggled vs eldrazi tron myself honestly, maybe just need more reps.

It's been a bomb for me every time. Even on their most creature-heavy draws we tend to have more than them, and it's a life-saver against Ugin and All is Dust while still having the flexibility to work against a TKS or Reality Smasher. Besides with only two copies we're not overloading on them.
as of today im 23-2 in competitive leagues on mtgo.
List was very similar to the previous one posted but DS has been somewhat absent online over the last few days so i cut the blessed to go up to 5 counterspells post board.
My loses were a super bad beats story against UW control. (needed to hit anyone 1 power creature from my company to win. missed)
and to UR Storm where he killed me both g1 and g2 on t3. that deck is pretty miserable to play against for us I think.
Im very happy I made the switch from Green and taxes, despite having a solid win rate (skuttlespike on mtgo) This deck is just nuts, and has so much customization. Anyone thinking about playing it that doesnt already go sleeve up some knight of the reliquary.
EDIT: 27-3
lost to burn, g1 was close, g2 i never drew a 3rd land and he killed every dork i played.
Well the deck is now a T1 deck on MTG Salvation thanks to all the good results lately. That being said, there's like 12 decks in the T1 so that doesn't say much on our deck but it means Modern is very healthy. One thing I love is that our deck is going so Wide in game 1.
Just to weigh in on the land discussion that was happening above, I like the idea of running switching some of the fetches to wooded foothills if you run the sacred foundry. Smooths out the targets a bit over flooded strand and (sometimes) breeding pool. I don't like cutting hallowed fountain entirely though just because it means we depend on 1 land and then just mana dorks for blue mana at that point.
You still have 9 green fetches but now you can search for the sacred foundry with 7 fetches. Having 2 Blue fetches is a bummer, but it's very rare when we have to search for a hallowed fountain. Also, I have not done the math here, I'm just throwing ideas.
Guys please opinions on japanese cards. Lost a 3/3 creature against Japan celestial colonade. This guy played all creatures and spells in english cards, but some cards in his manabase was japanese. I dont registrated this really ( my brain say its all fine and all english to me lets attack his empty board)...and i am sure it is a Kind of legal cheating. It is not ok, but i know legal. I Hate such people. I never forget colonade normally, but with this Tricks it can happen one time in 3 years and such people take advantage of this
If I am a customer spending premium amount of dollars, I expect a premium service. Jund falls into the category of a premium deck costing more dollars than a majority of the rest of the format. I'm not getting the desired performance ratio per dollars spent out of the Jund deck because WOTC decided to make the format more diverse.
@Bentobocx Apologies I didn't see this earlier, thanks for that I'll keep it in mind! And yeah I mostly was looking for the latter but I'll just get more reps in and learn that way.
Has anyone had to go up against the Vizier/Druid combo yet? The couple games I got in last night convinced me I need to adjust my sideboard. Not really sure what's good there?
Tier 1 hype! (even though the forum seems to have a bigger tier 1 category than what most people consider)
Went 3-2 today at local win-a-goyf. Bad beats, manascrewed vs affinity and lost vs two abzan company nut draws, Won vs UW control, esper control, bant eldrazi. Whatever the deck feels great and I will probably play it more the following weeks.
Mainboard is okay, I'm still unsure about eternal witness but seems worth it as a tutor target for the sideboard eldritch evolution. Otherwise, the mainboard is perfect. Courser of kruphix overperformed in several matchups, but wouldn't play more than two.
From the sideboard, still unsure about having no stony silence. Whisperwood elemental is an amazing card and I'll continue testing it in this deck. Whisperwood is to selfless what archangel of thune is to melira - a bigger, better card that dominates grindy matchups. I kind of like it more than the SB walkers that people usually include. In addition to that, it's serious tech vs eldrazi tron, which is a matchups that scares me (sac it in response to all is dust, all your creatures turn into 2/2 colorless surprises)
I don't know how valuable 3-0s are but I've been winning with this list week after week so here it is:
Creatures:
Noble Hierarch x 4
Birds of Paradise x 4
Knight of the Reliquary x 4
Spell Queller x 4
Tireless Tracker x 3
Voice of Resurgence x 3
Selfless Spirit x 2
Spellskite x 1
Scavenging Ooze x 2
Qasali Pridemage x 2
Spells:
Path to Exile x 4

Retreat to Coralhelm x 2
Lands:
Windswept Heath x 4
Misty Rainforest x 4
Flooded Strand x 2
Breeding Pool x 2
Temple Garden x 1
Sacred Foundry x 1
Horizon Canopy x 1
Gavony Township x 1
Kessig Wolf Run x 1
Ghost Quarter x 1
Plains x 1
Forest x 3
Sideboard:
Reflector mage x 2
Kitchen Finks x 2
Izzet Staticaster x 1
Vendilion Clique x 1
Gaddock Teeg x 1
Eldritch evolution x 1
Blessed Alliance x 1
Unified Will x 2
Negate x 2
Worship x 2
This deck and all it's Variants is FUQN awesome lol.
I have some basic questions for the combo lists. How many creatures should we have post board for optimal collected company hits? 26? Are we taking retreats out vs affinity and burn? I know burn will probably bring in revelry's so i could see cutting them there. I assume most lists are playing 28 creatures so i'm finding it hard to sideboard without taking the retreats out. Specifically against things like affinity where i'm bringing in 10 cards. 5 of them are creatures but my creature count falls to 24

Going by your idea, maybe we could do something like this:
2 Misty Rainforest
