Here's an example of a "spicy" take on Knightfall that went 5-0 in a modo league. The 4 maindeck spellskites look like a huge hedge against twin/infect/bogles, and as combo protection against bgx. This was used to reduce the number of paths in the maindeck to make room for chord of calling.
I'd like to draw attention again to the fact that the top placing decks are using Collected Company.

Staticaster has obvious synergy with retreat. That being said, I've never found a spot in a game where I personally wanted the card. Its a good solid option, I just personally have not used or thought it would be useful during play.
Anyone out there using staticaster want to explain what purpose it serves?

I can see it eing very useful against BW tokens, Delver/Pyro decks, Monastery Mentor decks, etc... Having one in the side if your meta calls for it should be fine. It is easily found off of Coco or Chord.
The listed deck featured 1 main and 2 sb, which I can't really figure out. Just seems like overkill to me. This was a MTGO league, so not sure it could be thought of as a meta call.
3 seems like a lot of hate for tokens when kessig already allows us to work through them. I wonder if I'm just missing an interaction that widens its utility beyond tokens. With a retreat and a fetch you can remove X/3s? Is that important given how long such a thing takes to set up?

Got to play the following list tonight at my locals, swept the tournament going 4-0 with no losses.
Played against the following lists which were Skred Red,U/R twin, affinity, burn,
The deck was awesome in my matchup against twin, with all the mana excellerator's (Birds,Hierarch, and lotus cobra) allowed me to go Over the top in the first 3 turns which
put them strongly on the back peddle the entire game.
The retreat combo happened 3 times, which was kinda inevitable since with chord of calling and woodland bellower there was always a knight of the reliquary on the board to win with,
Chord was MVP with all the mana acceleration between my birds and noble getting insane value from retreat with also lotus cobra shotgunning tons of
Mana with a single fetch in a single turn, and allowing turn three knights with chord of calling and searching out silver bullets such as spellskite's , keranos, qasali pridemage, and kataki with chord as well.
Negate's were also an awesome catch all to all the noncreature spells, i.e. cranial plating, blood moon, and spot removal.
Ghostly flicker + eternal witness and we can get back ghostly flicker and flicker something else. Flicker can target lands so it can trigger steppe lynx and vinelasher kudzu turning it into a pump spell. It can also target sejiri steppe for value. You can also get instant bonus retreat to coralhelm triggers. Obviously you can go nuts with thragtusk. At the very worst it can save a creature from removal.
I've seen some lists running Goyf while others do not use him.
Is Goyf a necessity for this deck? Is there ever a reason not to run him? (not counting budget reasons).
It depends on the playstyle you are looking for. Without goyf you are going for value and try to reduce opponent life as much as possible and eventually combo win, with goyf you can play more aggressive and only try to win with the combo if you are able to, otherwise just aggro with goyf for the win.
So basically:
If you are focusing on combo, goyf is not needed. Voice, Spellskite and even Meddling Mage is much better since they protect your combo.
If you don't want to focus on the combo to win and would like it to be your backup plan instead, then i would recommend you getting goyf. A one time purchase and it can be used in all sort of deck since it only require one green in the event you are not going to use it in Knightfall. Even GRIXIS can play goyf too with a simple addition or changes of one shockland.

At least my own thinking is that if you are running nacatl + lightning bolt, run tarmogoyf. If you are running the bant coco version, run voice instead. Lightning bolt and Nacatl are enough to get a 2/3 or 3/4 goyf, where bant will struggle to make more than a 1/2 or 2/3 in the early game when voice would be more useful. No one likes a 2 mana kird ape.
Imo, goyf goes in Blue Naya builds.

I'm slowly making my way through all the posts in the thread, but I wanted to jump up to the front and ask about three things.
Spellskite maindeck. We've seen two recent well-placing decks run 4 Spellskite MD. This seems like madness to me given how much force it takes from our beatdown plan A. Is it really worth it on account of Twin/Infect/Burn? In my (limited) testing, Twin is about 50/50 and burn is favored post-board.
Meddling Mage. Makes the maindeck? As a 4-of? It's a damn good hatebear, don't get me wrong. But again, it seems like it's mostly here to protect our combo at the expense of pressure. Is that so good that it can take the place of a utility beater like Scooze or a game-winning threat like Geist? Or are people naming things like Splinter Twin or Lightning Bolt with good results? (The guessing game never really appealed to me.)
Chord of Calling. I'm warming up to this one, especially since the instant speed plays well with EoT Chord - KotR - next turn Retreat - combo off. What have people's experiences been? Is it worth having a higher chance of whiffing your CoCos, or alternately pulling your only interaction (Path)? Or maybe even run it in place of CoCo? All that said I really do like it with mana dorks, Retreat to float extra mana, and a high creature count to easily push it out.
Any input would be appreciated!
As an aside, I can echo the enthusiasm for Voice of Resurgence. In my testing I had a game vs. Grixis that was decided on a counter-war over a Retreat to Coralhelm. Knightfall got out-countered, and then won the next turn with the 4 7/7 Elemental tokens that Grixis had to put out not to lose to the combo.

Personally currently I think for BANT Knightfall there's 3 common category.
1) go for chord, cutting coco, have voice, have counterspells, and go for midrange but requires the combo to close the game more then the 2nd build.
2) coco, goyf + more creature and go for slightly more aggressive beatdown that does or doesn't need the combo to win.
3) coco+cord, focus on combo protection with spellskite and meddling mage and depends only on the combo to win.
Apart from the 3 common category there's a few others many consider more creative and personal preference like:
1) having cards that are not usually in the common build. (Like grand abolisher, curser of kruphix and etc.)
2) merging Knightfall with other deck (like bogles which is what I'm doing right now maining unflinching courage and umbra)
4) splashing a 4th color (not including the splash of a single red for kassig wolf run) usually similar to the 2nd one ending up with a abzan coco with Knightfall)

Current Deck(s): TappedOut Would love to have more input to improve!
I do not own all the cards yet, so I would like some input on some decisions before actually buying the missing cards.
1. Do I need 4 Tarmogoyf instead of 3 Voice and 1 Smiter?
I've seen lists running either choice but I'm unsure which one would probably be the better.
2. Should I add another Elspeth to the list?
I've allways liked Elspeth in zoo, and found a slot for one.
Would adding another one be an improvement?
3. How good is Dromoka's Command for this deck?
The meta around here does not have any twin decks, so should I still try to get this card?
4. Birds of Paradise works fine at the moment.
Is it a good idea to wait a while before getting Noble Hierarch instead?
Or should I try to swap ASAP?
1) I've played extensively with both bant and 4C Knightfall. I'm fairly convinced that Voice of Resurgence/Loxodon SMiter are better in Bant Knightfall. I've only used goyfs in the 4C version of the deck, but they work fairly well. I'd give them about a 6/10 in the zoo variant.
2) Your deck runs not enough lands, and too many non-creature spells already in my opinion. You're only running 21 lands with 4 dorks, and I run 22 lands and 5 dorks, and consider that much closer to optimal. I would probably cut all 3 Collected Company from your deck if you were going to add a 2nd Elspeth, Knight-Errant, and add a couple of creatures.
3) Collected Naya usually runs 1 copy of Dromoka's Command, but all the top-placing Knightfall decks I've seen have cut it all together. I run 0 copies, and don't have a copy in the SB either.
4) The exalted from Noble Hierarch vastly outweighs the ability to produce red from Birds of Paradise in my opinion. I run 4 hierarchs and 1 bird in my list. In fact, the only real advantage that birds have in my opinion is being able to fly. Sometimes I'll do odd stuff like block a big flyer with a bird, and then pump with Kessig Wolf Run to trade. Geist of Saint Traft especially needs exalted triggers to punch through, and you're also not running the full 8 bolts + paths.
I'm slowly making my way through all the posts in the thread, but I wanted to jump up to the front and ask about three things.

1) I run 0 copies of Spellskite in my 75. I have a combined 11-2 record with Bant Knightfall at my local modern tourneys, and 9-3 with 4C Knightfall. There are 3 reasons I don't run any. A) Nearly every deck that folds to skites have multiple ways to answer them (Destructive Revelry, Twisted Image, Nature's Claim, Ancient Grudge, etc.). B) Both Knightfall builds maindeck Qasali Pridemage, which answers most of the things that Spellskite does. C) They don't in any way contribute to getting the other guy dead, and I don't like durdling around with hate cards, unless they seriously hose the opponent.
2) I have no experience running Meddling Mage. I'm not adventurous with my builds, so I refuse to even test it to be honest. I consider it way too hit-or-miss, and too vulnerable to common removal. Especially the Bant Knightfall list has a high amount of bolt/pyroclasm resistant creatures, and I like to dead my opponents removal if possible.
3) I don't play with the more midrangey-control versions of Knightfall, so I can't speak on Chord of Calling. Most posts recently that I've seen about it have been fairly positive. I prefer to try and overwhelm the opponent with sheer card advantage via CoCo, rather than run the toolboxy approach. I feel like Collected Junk does that better than Knightfall at any rate.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction and sharing your thoughts, folks! I think the place I agree with Borges the most is on Sejiri Steppe. I just don't see my opponent letting me untap with Knight in play when they have removal for it. The only other time Steppe will protect her is if you can't combo off to kill them, and then they topdeck removal on their next turn before you can finish them off the next turn. Sure, that situation will come up time to time, but compared to the games you lose by drawing a crappy CIP tapped W-only that's not a Plains (can't be sacced to Knight, can't be fetched off GQ/Path) more than make up for that fringe case. I can be persuaded otherwise, but so far I've never been happy with it.
I spent some time last night and this morning tooling a deck more along the Meddling Mage/Spellskite route. I definitely like some number of Chord of Calling in the deck, and I can see running MM/Skite maindeck depending on meta. My LGS is pretty combo-heavy so I imagine they'd pull their weight there. It seems like this version of the deck really sacrifices its beatdown power to play more of hatebears game, which means its more reliant on its combo (or just sticking Worship/Magus of the Moon, which are both amazing inclusions) to win. Which got me to thinking it would be great if we had a way of Chording out the other half of the combo. So… what about including 1 Overgrown Tomb, and running a single maindeck Zur the Enchanter? He whiffs CoCo, but it doesn't seem like he's too hard to Chord out at opponent's end step, and then he can grab Retreat.

I don't think Idyllic Tutor is the right choice. Running X of a card that's only used to fetch (and not cheat in) an enchantment seems on the slow/weak side for the deck. The reason I'm thinking about Zur is that just by running one in your 60, you turn Chord of Calling into a card that can effectively tutor for either half of your win con. (Remember, this is for the control-heavy variants with much weaker beatdown plans.) Plus he dodges Decay and Bolt, which is nice, and if you Chord him he can't be killed at sorcery speed until he's already done his job.
The big downsides are that you need that B splash if he ends up in your hand, and if you don't have a fetch in play, you can't go off with Knight/Coralhelm until the turn after you swing with him. But I think the upside of letting your 3-or-4-of Cord grab either combo piece may be worth it as a 1-of and swapping out one land for an Overgrown Tomb.

I think the biggest problem with Zur, is that you need to attack with it to get retreat, meaning that even if you have the knight you can't combo off until the next turn, which seems slow to me. Have you tested with it at all?
I've been using Commune with the Gods as a way to look for both pieces and stock the yard, and it's been pretty good.
So what do you all think about the new reflector mage? Worth to have in the deck for the tempo - moving away from the naya zoo plan and into a more tempo midrange deck with meddling mage and such?
Reflector mage seems awesome in a bant company shell, essentially removal on a coco compatible creature is awesome, especially with Geist of Saint Traft ready to attack.
I'd like to draw attention again to the fact that the top placing decks are using Collected Company.
